My wife was in Prestbury House for respite care. She seemed to settle in well and was quite happy. Care was good, as was the overall experience.

I felt the nursing home was under-resourced and as a result, there was insufficient time given to residents. In addition, my mother stayed for 2 weeks during which time she broke her leg and after her hospital operation, we didn’t want her to return to the nursing home as we felt she wasn’t happy there.

From the moment my mother arrived at Prestbury House, we were made welcome and could see that it was very well managed care home and had a peaceful, happy atmosphere. She was only a resident for a short time, but formed new friendships with residents and staff and received excellent care. Her room was large and comfortable and she had a sunny, welcoming lounge and dining room quite close by and the company of other people.
Flexibility on medical care and their own excellent nursing staff meant that my mother's health was well managed and she had some relief from her serious condition. She had a very peaceful, comfortable passing in the best of places.
Staff were always welcoming to visitors and being able to visit at any time was a great advantage. The small ground floor bistro was a bonus and always busy.

In particular, all staff, in whatever role, were open, friendly and helpful. I am happy that the final few weeks of my mother's life were spent at Prestbury House.

Our friend spent nearly 6 weeks in Prestbury House for end of life care but we were very satisfied with the care.
The staff quickly assessed her needs. We were given good advice on end of life care. Our friend stayed in Prestbury House when hospital admission would not have been appropriate or necessary.

The home seemed a happy and friendly place with plenty going on for less poorly residents.

Generally good. Some problems occur due to bad communication between staff - although only minor issues.
Need more staff.

Overall Experience

My mother has been a resident at Prestbury House Care Home in Macclesfield for almost 3 years. Initially, the care was good as were the activities. In the past 6 months, this has declined greatly. The carers do their best but are understaffed. Activities are depleted and there are none over weekends and bank holidays now and this is the period where it is needed most. Management is non-existent and I feel the staff are unsupported. There is no continuity of care and no communication between staff and relatives.

Prestbury House Care Home gave my mother the respite care she needed after a fall had left her both fragile and lacking in confidence. Her drugs were regulated, appetising meals were regular and the social side gave Mum the support she needed to recover.

My wife was resident for an 8 day period on 'end of life' following a month in hospital suffering from severe pain due to gangrenous leg ulcers.
She was made most welcome and was treated with great kindness and compassion by everyone from doctor to cleaner.
Her stay, though short, was tranquil and comfortable.
All staff were excellent, obliging and concerned that she and all our family gained the best possible results.
Her death, though inevitable, was treated with dignity and respect.

Well done.

My mother was transferred to the home after several weeks in hospital, albeit she was only in the home for a week until end of life.
The staff were kind, helpful and very accommodating.

She was treated very well and had her dignity to the end in calm, pleasant surroundings.

Although only in the home for one week before passing away, the care my mother in law was given was excellent.
She was treated with respect and dignity at all times, even to the point of being visited by the chef in her room as she was bedridden, to find out if there was anything special he could cook for her.

A big thank you to all members of staff.

Our mother was a resident for only 7 weeks before her passing but she was treated with the utmost respect and dignity from start to finish. The home is like a four-star hotel with a calm ambience. Every member of staff was friendly, caring and helpful and I know Mum was extremely happy throughout her stay.

Dad was in Prestbury House for 5 years due to having Parkinson's and dementia.
Whilst Dad was already a shadow of his former self, the staff would get to know him and his former life from relatives and friends and Dad himself.
His care and the interaction from staff were lovely to see.
He bonded well with so many of them and not just the carers.
Front of house, maintenance, activity and household staff alike all showed and shared friendships with him - a very loving and caring home.

Thank you.

I came to the care home for 2 weeks in order to let my wife have a short holiday with friends in Tenerife. My health, in general, is good but I am disabled and unable to walk. I have managed to get to get around very well in my wheelchair and the staff have been so helpful.

Nishi GottliebJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2023

Hello, my name is Nishi, and I am the Home Manager here at Prestbury House.

I have over 30 years of experience working in hospitals across the world and worked as a Registered General Nurse and midwife in India from 1990 to 1994. I have worked in care home management for over 15 years.

Working in various roles across different organisations, primarily within a care home, has given me a deep appreciation for creating a nurturing and joyful environment for our residents. I am most inspired by the opportunity to make a meaningful difference, where each person feels valued, respected and celebrated for who they are and the journey they’ve lived. My goal is to bring warmth and happiness, to make our residents feel safe, well-cared for and uplifted. Being in a care home should feel like the beginning of a fulfilling chapter, where every resident’s wishes are honoured and their days are filled with joy, dignity and purpose.
