Mapplewell Manor provides residential, dementia, respite and long-term care for up to 87 residents in a modern, purpose-built setting in the heart of Mapplewell village.

Located in a quiet cul-de-sac just five minutes’ walk from local shops and cafés, the home is laid out across three self-contained floors, each with its own dining room, lounge and kitchenette. All bedrooms are single occupancy with en-suite facilities, and residents are supported to personalise their space with familiar belongings.

The home features wide corridors for accessibility, a café bar for socialising, and on-site amenities including a hair salon, therapy rooms and landscaped gardens. The central Victorian-style courtyard, complete with a water fountain, provides a calm and sociable space, while the raised flower beds and wildflower embankment support seasonal gardening activities and outdoor events.

Dining is flexible, with freshly cooked meals, 24-hour snacks, hydration stations, and regular themed events. Residents are actively involved in menu planning and mealtimes are a valued part of daily life.

Excellent care. Excellent staff who are kind, supportive and caring. An excellent wide variety of activities and entertainment. Opportunities to attend theatres, concerts and outdoor events. A cafe-bar encouraging socialisation and lovely drinks.

I have only visited four times. I have always received smiles or a good afternoon greeting. There is always entertainment with the residents and staff joining in. I have visited various homes over the years and there are no offensive smells when entering the building. I cannot comment on a few areas
as I am unable to due to only visiting four times.

My mother has been a resident at Mapplewell Manor for almost a year.
The facilities, accommodation and food are of the highest quality and the activities proved to be both entertaining and enjoyable for both residents and their families.
I was particularly impressed with the staff in my mother's
final days; all were caring and went the 'extra mile' in giving dignified care at the end of her life.

I honestly do not think my elderly uncle would still be with us today had he not had the care and attention given to him at Mapplewell Manor during the past 8 months or so since he was discharged from hospital with final stage kidney failure.
It's expensive, but you get what you pay for!

Mapplewell Manor is more like a 5* hotel than it is a care home. I would highly recommend this care home. The love, care and support my mother received in her two-year stay was above and beyond their call of duty. In her final days, they looked after her in such a dignified way it was overwhelming to
see. Not only did they support my mam, but they also supported my dad and our whole family. I can not thank you enough for the love, care and support you have given to her.

My sister truly enjoyed her life at Mapplewell Manor. Accommodation, facilities and food were excellent. But, most importantly, her family sincerely believe that the love and care that she received from staff during her three-and-a-half-year stay could not be bettered.
It was particularly heart-warming
to observe them going out of their way in order to enhance the latter stages of my sister’s life. We will have no hesitation in recommending Mapplewell Manor to anyone looking for a care home.

I was lucky enough to be able to spend nearly a fortnight in one of the best rooms to experience living in a care home. Unfortunately, an infection occurred during my stay so an accurate assessment was difficult to make as it was not functioning normally.

I would like to thank all the staff at Mapplewell Manor for all the time and effort they put in to celebrate my Mum's 80th birthday. Nothing was too much trouble. They went above and beyond all expectations. They provided entertainment and a wonderful buffet. Also asked Mum what she would like for her
birthday. She said a ride in a limousine, which they also arranged. Thank you to everyone involved.

Early morning I don't always want to go down for breakfast. So staff always bring me breakfast in bed, which is lovely. My morning routine is breakfast and then a steady walk to café bar. Coffee and biscuits and I read papers, nice relaxing me time. At 1pm I go for lunch with my group of friends we
all sit together, my favourite time of the day. There is entertainment most afternoons which I really enjoy. But some afternoon I rest.

This home has a brilliant atmosphere. Happy people and staff. My wife is stimulated and her mental health has improved and she's eating more. My wife enjoys all the activities and she dances and sings along. She mostly loves the children's visits. Overall, very happy and content.

Clean and contemporary in style and decor. Mapplewell Manor is a breath of fresh air when compared to other care homes in Wakefield and Barnsley districts. Staff are well trained, have a caring and supportive attitude to all residents in my opinion. Highly recommended for consistent care delivery, quality

The home is like a hotel - excellent facilities, good sized rooms and a relaxed feel to all aspects and good, clean decor. Staff are friendly, but professional and take a genuine interest in the health and wellbeing of residents, as well as in keeping the resident's relatives informed and involved.
The extra cost is outweighed by the high standard of the home and the care given.

Mum has been in Mapplewell Manor for almost a year now.
It is good to feel that you can trust the home to take good care of her while feeling that you are involved in care decisions. I hope I end up in a place like this if I ever need residential care.

Overall the care of our mother is great. The only issue I have is the lack of activities recently. One or two days is not keeping her stimulated. I have asked if it is possible to let the residents watch old musicals whilst sitting together in the lounge. They are sat in front of a large TV screen with
a pink background smooth radio playing. Most of them don't know the songs. Would be better playing music from 40s, 50s or even daytime TV.

My mum's care is second to none but I'd expect that.
My mum's medication is professionally administered but I'd expect that.
My mum's hygiene is a priority as it should be.
My mum's safety is paramount to all concerned.
But what I didn't expect was my mum's personality, sense of humour and nature
to be so specifically catered for to ensure she remains close to the woman she once was.

Teamwork is essential in a care home environment and Mapplewell Manor provides this in abundance. Individual care of dementia patients is second to none! Anything that can be done to improve and facilitate the resident is always done with care and compassion.
I always feel well informed regarding my
mother's care.
Mapplewell Manor is of a very high standard with regards to facilities and living conditions.
It is immaculately clean at all times with cleaning staff always at hand.
The food is first class and the outside spaces are beautiful.
