other privately arranged healthcare. Should you require an escort to hospital appointments, we may apply
an agreed hourly charge for this service.

The care, compassion and level of service given to my father; is exemplary. Every member of staff has been compassionate, especially during these difficult times. Mum has been living at The Potteries for almost a year now and is happy, contented and fulfilled. This unprecedented awful worldwide pandemic has meant that living in a care home has taken on a whole new dangerous meaning, but the staff have been incredible. Weekly FaceTime calls, visiting through the
glass by phone, making sure Mum remembers us and keeping her daily activities fulfilled. They have strictly stuck to the rules for hygiene and so far have kept CoVid out! This has included an early lockdown, strict rules on staff hygiene, face masks and cleaning. I worry every single day currently due to the pandemic that the phone will ring with news of illness but all is well. I and my family thank all the wonderful Potteries staff from the bottom of our hearts.

My wife moved to The Potteries direct from hospital. She had frontotemporal dementia and she rapidly declined over 3 weeks and died on 29th April 2020.
Management and carers all treated us both with compassion, respect and patience, especially in the care end of life period. This made my life of a
journey of 4 years as the sole carer more comfortable knowing that my wife was receiving excellent care.

My dad needed to go into a home late August last year and we wanted something special, obviously. The Business Manager welcomed us and showed us around. I instantly had a good feel for The Potteries and although I didn't want dad to have to leave home, it was by far the best choice. Dad settled well
and the staff have been brilliant adapting and catering to dad's quirks and needs. I think he has brought some laughs to the staff with some of his antics. I have been really happy with the care and attention dad has received from the staff and it has been obvious how much they have warmed to him. I have felt really comfortable at The Potteries each time I visited and any issue dad has had, has been addressed with thought, care and kindness. The staff are attentive, relaxed, kind and friendly. Dad was only there for five months and right up to when he died he had the best care. Thank you to all the staff.

Mum went into the dementia ward at The Potteries from hospital in December 2019 and then moved the following week onto the nursing suite. Mums care was excellent and could not be faulted. The team at The Potteries are caring, kind, attentive and very much in tune with patients and family needs. They
always listened to our wishes and made sure mum was comfortable at all times of the day and night. It takes special people to carry out the work they do so efficiently and I would not hesitate to recommend The Potteries to anyone. Mum, unfortunately, passed away on Boxing Day and again the team were excellent. We were comforted by the fact mums last days were in The Potteries being looked after so well by such lovely people.

It was a huge decision for us to move mum into a care home and we visited many. The Potteries offered everything we were looking for for our mum who needed a secure and active home.
It has only been a couple of weeks but mum is so very happy. She speaks so highly of all of the staff using words like
“wonderful and caring”. Mum is so positive about her room, the food, activities and how independent she feels.
It is still early days but it has been such a comfort to see her so happy and to know the wonderful staff at The Potteries are there for her and us! Thank you for making such a difference.

Four months on from my Mother being received into the Potteries care home, I couldn't recommend them highly enough. It's like a 4-star hotel. The staff are brilliant and the facilities are first rate. Being an ex-hairdresser, I'm able to take my Mum down to the salon in the foyer and pamper her, before
taking her to the complementary cafe in reception for hot chocolate or coffee.
She really feels like she's had a trip out after all that. There is also a cinema on the ground floor with a massive screen and cosy chairs and a big selection of DVDs to choose from.
On the first floor, the residents have two lounges a TV lounge and a Kitchen. Food and drink are also available at any time on top of the main meal times. The staff are always asking if Mum wants anything to eat or drink.
Mums room is spacious, warm and clean and has its own ensuite.
Like I said earlier, it's like living in a 4-star hotel. After a year of looking for the right place for Mum, I couldn't be happier.

Having lived at The Potteries for just over two months, I feel happy and contented. The care and attention from all who work here is very good and all of them manage to keep a smile on their faces, even in difficult circumstances.
I feel the two main meals of the day are rather close together and with
the approach of summer, wondered if they could be a little further apart.
The only other thing, I would appreciate a serviette in the room or more tissues.

My mother passed away on Wednesday 27th February 2019. The care she has had over the two years has been outstanding by everyone in the care home. All members of the team have been brilliant and also so welcoming. However guilty we as a family felt at having to place mother into The Potteries, the team
elevated this. The commitment that the team have is so well over 100% and this has been seen on many issues that have arisen and people have stayed on duty when needed. Even though I was too late to be with my mother, my niece was contacted and sat with her in her final hours, also the team continued to check on her whilst having other people to attend to. The team became part of our family. I will never be able to thank everyone at The Potteries for their professionalism, care and love that they give to all.
The Potteries is a wonderful place for any person to enter when needed and feel that the person will continue to have a life until the end.

All the staff at The Potteries care home, from the office staff, carers, cleaners and nursing staff are very approachable and friendly. They have an in-depth understanding of the elderly and the dementia care that they provide. The staff have been very understanding of how difficult it is for families
when an elderly parent moves into residential care and have been very supportive throughout that transition period. Both of my parents are settled, with a high degree of care and their individual needs are well catered for. Another reason I chose this particular care home, was as both of my parent's health conditions increase, this care home has the facility to provide nursing and end of life care. This means they will not have the trauma of having to move later on.

First impression through the doors at The Potteries...a good feeling about the place. Having been shown around, that good feeling remained and we agreed this was the place we wanted my Mum to live. Arrival day was special, every member of staff greeted Mum with smiles and her name. Her room was very
welcoming, Mum's favourite drinks/biscuits waiting for her together with a lovely bowl of fruit. We were also made to feel very welcome and stayed for dinner, which is something you can do whenever. Mum is happy at The Potteries, staff are lovely, having a certain way with residents whereby they bring smiles to their faces. Rooms and facilities are excellent with many places where residents can wander or sit. There is a cafe on the ground floor that is available for residents and visitors so we can still take Mum for afternoon tea. They are always doing various activities for residents and have many different entertainment visitors. A lovely place to have your loved ones cared for.

My mother was a resident at The Potteries for 5 months. The standard of care she received was of a very high standard. Nothing was too much and all her visitors commented on how friendly the home was. Sadly she passed away at the end of September. The care she received for her last days was superb.
The staff really went much further than would be expected and did much to accommodate relatives during this sad time. Staff, including senior staff, actually sat with her when relations weren't around. We always felt welcomed and nothing was too much for them in caring for my mother. At her funeral last Monday, staff attended to pay their last respects.
I have a lot of experience of care homes, having worked in the care sector, and nowhere else have I seen such a well run establishment with such a caring workforce.

It is difficult to put into words how much I appreciate the care, compassion and support provided by the wonderful staff at The Potteries. Our mother had no wish to leave her flat and move into a care home and after a difficult experience with another provider, we chose The Potteries. The freedom she
enjoyed, along with the friendly, relaxed, caring attitude of the staff, transformed her life. She was able to enjoy the activities she loved such as quizzes, music, dancing and she became happy again for the first time in many months. As her health declined, the staff made her feel loved and comforted her. The Potteries had become her home and the staff made her feel like she was with family and never alone. On behalf of my mother and the whole family, I'd like to express our sincere thanks and gratitude to the wonderful staff who cared so magnificently for her and who always made us feel welcome.

The Potteries were able to take our Aunt at very short notice. The whole admission procedure was thorough, professional and friendly. During her stay we found the staff to be attentive, caring and every effort was made to ensure her needs were met. The Potteries has a homely feel and has been designed
thoughtfully with the elderly in mind. We were grateful for the care she received, and the way in which she was encouraged to maintain her links with the outside world, whilst being given 24-hour care in a secure environment.

We were looking for a care home that could cope with the differing needs of our mother and father. The Potteries staff were able to reassure us as they have different levels of care on different levels within the same building.
On arrival, both my mother and father settled in well. The staff have been
lovely and caring. This extends from the manager of the home, through caring staff to the gardeners and general maintenance staff.
The 'coffee shop' is a lovely spot where my mum and dad could meet.
There are several private rooms seating approximately 6 people which are lovely to use for visits from family and friends.

Job Title: Home Manager

I began my social care career as a carer and worked my way up. That’s given me a very helpful perspective and understanding of what my team does. Even now, I’m always ready to roll up my sleeves and help if the need arises.


I believe that effective care is personalised care. Our team gets to know each resident well. We know what they enjoy doing, and we help them to continue to experience those things.


It’s also vital to keep up-to-date with developments in care so that we can bring benefits to residents. We recently took delivery of a Tovertafel, or ‘magic table’, which uses the latest technology to enable residents to play simple, fun interactive games, either on their own or with others. The tables have proven benefits: helping people who are living with dementia to develop their communication and cognitive skills and mobility.
