Overall Experience

Our Dad was at Austen Court for the last 5 months. Although his condition worsened continually, the staff would always be there to attend to him. He had a smart room that was modern and spacious, and the staff would regularly visit him while he was in there. When he spent time in the lounge, he was always being looked after with snacks and drinks - the carers would sit and keep him company. Whenever we visited him, we were made very welcome and fed and watered ourselves. Austen Court was regularly in contact, and would always let us know about developments and any change in Dad's condition. It was a continual comfort to know that he was being cared for there. Our great thanks go to everyone at Austen Court.

My mother-in-law was a resident at the care home. She was there for almost 3 years. She passed away 7 months ago. When she was admitted to the home, she was only given 2-3 months to live. If it hadn't been for all the staff there, she would not have lived. A big thank you to you all. Six staff members in particular made her life so very happy, and she loved you all very much. Plus, there are so many more people from the cleaners, laundry, kitchen staff, and activities staff to give a big thank you from all of the family.

I cannot praise this care home enough for the care and compassion they gave my dad. He was with them for about 12 months and right from before he even arrived with them they were supportive of us as a family. Every single member of staff from the Manager and clinical staff to the housekeeping staff were absolutely amazing and genuinely cared for my dad. The support and care we received as a family during my dad's last weeks, which were extremely difficult, was absolutely outstanding and I would recommend them to anyone. The home was clean, tidy and we felt he was in a 5-star hotel and treated like a king.

Our Mom has been at Austen Court for 5 years now and as a family, we couldn't wish for anywhere better for her. The care and dignity she receives is excellent and tailored to her particular needs. The staff are warm, caring, friendly, always welcoming and approachable and nothing is ever too much trouble for them. They are there if you ever need to ask anything, or even for a chat and any questions are answered and sorted out straight away. Mom has a beautiful room that she has made her own and the staff are respectful of all her property. She enjoys her meals, tailored to her vegetarian needs and participates in the many activities on offer, including a mini on-site cinema, again by the caring and thoughtful activity staff. She also makes use of the hairdresser and Chiropodist, who visit the home on a regular basis. We feel content and relieved that Mom is always safe and cared for very well, as well as her independence encouraged. Thank you to all the staff at Austen Court.

I have no doubt my grandad is cared for by the staff and my nan is always welcomed when I bring her to visit. However, on my last few visits, I felt the cleanliness of the home was poor. Whether it be carpet or furniture.

My mother was resident at Austen Court for two years. All staff were caring, polite and helpful, from nurses and carers, to laundry and maintenance staff. My mother couldn't have wished for better care. The rooms are spacious and kept very clean.

In the last days of her life, she received so much love and attention from the staff, and my brothers and I were supported too. We are very grateful that we were able to be with our mother when she died, in calm and dignified surroundings.

This is how care should be! Although a sad time for the family, Austen Court and all the staff were extremely caring and thoughtful to my mum and us, the family. We could not ask for any better. Thank you.

My mother was a resident at Austen Court for only a short time but they could not have been more caring and considerate to her needs at the end of her life.
Dignity was observed and the staff were very friendly to me when I visited.

It felt like a peaceful place to be.

My wife was taken into this care home after her assessment. All I can say is that we have been very impressed indeed with the quality of care provided.

It is a truly excellent place for her to be.

All the staff are polite and helpful, so I shall take this as an opportunity to say thank you all very much indeed.

During the three plus years that our mother has been in Austen Court, my sister and I have paid hundreds of visits. We have always found Mum to be happy, comfortable, well-groomed and well-fed. For this, we are most grateful. We cannot speak highly enough of the staff and management of this superb and well-run home. Thank you all.

Dad moved to Austen Court Care Home two weeks ago. It was not an easy move for the family as a whole but the manager and members of staff have been so reassuring. My mum and I have spent time sitting with the manager and her staff to discuss needs. The manager has helped coordinate doctors appointments through emails (long after hours). We have also had reassurance from an owner. Dad tells is it's a very comfortable place to be.

My father, who had dementia, died recently in this lovely care home where, without exception, the staff took a personal interest in his care and comfort. His surroundings were delightful and he did not need the addition of his own furniture as the room had been so well thought out. The communal areas were also very attractive and not at all institutional. Having looked at several care homes as soon as I entered Austen Court, I knew it was the one. One sad aspect of his death is that he did not have more time to enjoy this amazing facility.

My husband moved to Austen Court in 7/9/18 His room was just amazing. He used a large wheelchair and he was able to drive in - full 360 turn in front of kitchen area onto his own sitting room area, turn again, straight out into its corridor to the dining room. To have the space and be allowed to do just that was 100% what he needed.

We enjoyed a fabulous film afternoon with extended family to watch dvd of film that grandad was in. Austen Court just so special.

Mum was admitted to Austen Court from hospital late on Thursday 29th November for palliative care. We received a phone call Friday morning asking us to come in. We were treated with care and support and were able to spend mums last hours with her in comfort. The nursing and care staff treated mum with great care and dignity and provided us with care and support. Mum spent her last day in comfort. Thank you for making that possible.

Staff are fantastic and very patient and understanding.

Have never seen such a pleasant atmosphere in such beautiful surroundings.

More like a first class hotel than a care home.
