On behalf of our family, we would like to thank the Manager and their fantastic staff. Dad was admitted to Ramsey on 26th January 2022 for end of life care, the care and attention that dad received was exceptional, all of the staff treated dad like he was one of their own family, we were all allowed unlimited access night and day which allowed all of us to spend some time with dad. When dad was getting close to passing I had a call from the Manger to say it would be a good time for the family to come and say their final goodbyes, there were fifteen of us and the Manager gave us the staff room to gather which again was very kind. The whole family cannot thank him and his team enough for making the whole experience more bearable.

Thank you

I have been visiting my brother for a while now and find him very happy and comfortable. The management staff are all very caring and social (through difficult times too). I am also made very welcome. I also see they all work very hard to make residents as comfortable as possible.

My father-in-law was at end of life and had been in the hospital for six weeks ahead of being admitted to Ramsey care home. He received outstanding care during his three-week stay. The staff could not have been more caring, and the service and care were excellent. He was treated with dignity and respect until he passed.

As a family, we couldn’t be more grateful for the care our Mum received when she was transferred here from Colchester Hospital. She was transferred with a view to building her up and getting her ready to return home.
Within 24 hours it became obvious that Mum was nearing her end of life and she couldn’t have been in safer hands. She was cared for as if she was family and as her family, this comforted us no end.
Nothing was too much trouble!
The Managers and their team were also very supportive to us as we said our goodbyes. We felt we formed a strong bond with them in the short time Mum was with them and we can’t thank them enough!

Thank you once again from the bottom of our hearts

My mother was transferred to this care home from Colchester NHS hospital. The care staff were helpful and friendly and when my mother passed away a few days later they could not have been more supportive and caring and could not do enough to help my father, my sister and I.

Overall Experience

My mother was sent to Ramsey Step Down and Care Centre at the end of October 2021 when Colchester hospital was trying to create extra space in case it was needed for Covid patients. The Centre owners had some space and kindly agreed to take her. We were hoping this would be a step to her being able to return home but unfortunately, she took a turn for the worse 3 days after she arrived. The care, consideration, and support we were given as a family, especially in my mother's final day, could not have been better. In every respect, I can not fault the owners and their staff, who were nothing short of brilliant. I will never be able to thank them enough for how quickly they adjusted to our situation. From day one they gave us covid safe access to be able to try and get her to eat and drink (which was what we had been doing in the hospital) and when things deteriorated they were once again quick to react and call us in to be with her. The care and support they showed her and us sets the benchmark for others.

Overall Experience

My wife was admitted on Friday evening from hospital. Over the next two days, my wife deteriorated and ate very little and drank only soup or orange squash. The home could not be more helpful in providing the appropriate food and drink. My wife was made very comfortable in bed. On the third day, my wife took a turn for the worse and died early the following morning. The home was very helpful and considerate and looked after us very well with food and coffee throughout the night.

Overall Experience
My Niece has been at Ramsey for about a month, in that time she has received excellent care and attention. She has received support with eating and tasks she can no longer manage on her own and it has all been delivered in an encouraging and enthusiastic way. The staff are all extremely friendly, helpful, patient and kind. They really care about the people they look after and it shows.
The unit has a very pleasant atmosphere and my niece has settled in well and is happy. The food is excellent and varied. The unit is very clean and my niece's personal hygiene is also excellent.
I have no hesitation in recommending Ramsey, I was very worried about my niece moving in but the staff have made it an easy and worry free move.

Keep up the excellent work and Thankyou.

I’ve been very impressed with the care that my nan has been receiving, the staff are very friendly and keep me updated with my nan's progress. Despite my nan being unwell she always has a smile for the nurses and care team. My only recommendation for an improvement would be for the home to have a computerised booking system for visits.

My husband came to Ramsey Step Down Care after a long spell in hospital after a stroke. He arrived looking very unkempt and with bedsores. He has received very good care, carried out with a friendly chat which has helped him settle and feel happy in his new surroundings. His bedsores have now got better, due to the care of staff and nurses dedication.

Overall Experience

My dad recently spent his last few weeks at Ramsey Step Down Care Centre. Prior to his stay, the manager gave us a tour of the facilities and we were able to choose Dad's room which was light, airy and very clean. Throughout his stay, the care he received was attentive and compassionate. We received regular updates on any health concerns. The food was good and they even popped out to get some doughnuts; one of his favorites. If you are searching for a local, well managed and caring environment then make an appointment for a tour/pre-visit to see for yourself.

All anyone wants for their loved one is for them to be cared for as you would care for them. The biggest endorsement of any residential care is how content the residents are and my father-in-law was content with being at Ramsey Step Down Care. As for our family, we took great comfort in knowing he was well looked after. Even the owner and his wife took time to sit and chat with him. Thank you so much.

Overall Experience
From the moment the manager invited us to look around, we knew that we had found Grandad somewhere that could offer a kind, caring and compassionate home for his final few weeks.
The staff are incredibly passionate about what they have set up and their common-sense approach to providing a safe and caring environment for their residents was evident immediately.
Every single member of staff who contributed to Grandad’s care was superb and all remembered our entire family’s names quickly, offering a friendly and reassuring presence whenever we visited. Nothing was too much trouble and there was a genuine sense of wanting to help from everyone.

We are so lucky as a family to have found Ramsey Step Down and Care Centre, Grandad couldn’t have wished for a more caring and loving home. We can’t thank all the kind staff enough.
