Fremantle Court

from John T (Husband of Resident) published on 20 August 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My wife, of 66, was a resident at Fremantle Court for the last 20 months of her life. On her last evening, she was comatose. During the night, the nurse called the doctor, who sent her to hospital. I was with her at 7:50 AM, still comatose and in no pain. She died at 8 AM. On admission to Fremantle,
my wife was entirely lacking in mobility, was totally incontinent and had mild dementia. Swallowing food was a problem. I saw her almost every day. She was extremely fortunate. She could not have been more carefully or more lovingly cared for and nursed. My family and I have lots of gratitude to everyone who works at Fremantle - the management, the cleaning & gardening staff, the maintenance, the carers, nurses, doctors - they all demonstrated a commitment to the welfare & happiness of the residents.

My mother was at Mulberry Court Care Home from August 2023 (initially for respite care) until her death in June 2025. Mum's room and ensuite was always clean, well decorated, and bright. The food was always hot and nutritious, and when my mum developed difficulty in swallowing this was catered for too.
I felt my Mum's needs were assessed daily and any deterioration in her health was picked up, acted on, and discussed with us promptly. The staff were amazing and treated Mum like their own mother. All the carers were welcoming to me and we were encouraged to join in with the organised activities e.g barbecues, and quiz nights. Mulberry Court is small enough that you knew all the carers and other staff but large enough to have good facilities and varied activities. I believe Mum was happy at Mulberry Court and the staff were always courteous and respectful to her. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Mulberry Court to anyone looking for a Care Home for their elderly relatives.

We have been so very happy with Mulberry Court. They have looked after our Mum so well. The staff are very caring and really take the time to talk to and get to know the residents. They also put a lot of effort into organising activities for the residents and events which family members can join too.

I feel mum could not have been in a better place in Lent Rise House for the past couple of years. She has received the highest standard of care and has been treated with kindness and compassion at every stage of her time there. It has been important to us as a family that we have been able to consistently
with the same members of staff (at every level) throughout mum's time of residence; we feel that having families faces around has been good for mum. Mum also particularly appreciated the fact there was a cat in the house! Many thanks

Just want to say what a lovely home for residents this is. The garden is beautiful and very therapeutic. The residents are lovely and most get on with each other. They are all well cared for and I can see this in my mother-in-law's care that she is receiving. No sooner had I questioned a red eye was
it attended to. The residence all have their independence around the home in around the grounds. The carers are exceptional.

Mulberry Court

from Tony M (Son of Resident) published on 23 June 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

My 98-year-old mother has been living at this Care Home since January 2025, after being forced to leave her own home due to serious mobility and health challenges that made it impossible for her to live independently. She initially tried a larger care facility, which did not meet her needs, and then
chose this smaller, quieter home for a more personalised environment. As a fiercely independent and strong-willed woman, the transition was not easy. However, thanks to the consistently patient, attentive, and compassionate care provided by the staff, she has gradually become more settled. Despite a few health scares, the standard of care has given both of us peace of mind, and we now feel confident that this is the right permanent home for her. That said, one area that still needs improvement is her ability to get outside more regularly for fresh air and a change of scenery, and I find it frustrating to experience long waits at the entrance due to having to rely on busy carers.

Reply from Emma Cole, Home Manager at Mulberry Court

Thank you for your review. We have a great team of staff here who rightly put all residents at the heart of all they do. It is lovely to hear you and mum recognise this. We will continue encouraging your mum to join in with any activity and will encourage her to spend some time in the garden for a change of scenery and fresh air, now nicer weather is here. The main entry doors are closed for security and safety, however I have passed on your feedback to the team so they are aware and can improve their response time when answering the door to you and other visitors.

Very happy with mum's care. She is always clean, and all her needs are met. Her room is always clean and tidy. Some belongings disappear, some turn up again, some don't, even though they are all labelled. Mum seems happy, which is our prime concern.l

My grandmother unfortunately had to move into a care home unexpectedly. However, despite it being a big change for my gran, the staff at Lewin House were exceptional. I visited today. I was quite shocked at how dirty the floor was in my mother-in-law's room. She doesn't move out of her chair much and it was obvious no one had cleaned underneath it. Care staff are very nice, food is adequate but not very inviting.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. The Housekeeper has now rectified with immediate action, staff to check daily around her chair. Please do not hesitate to speak to me anytime regarding any concerns regarding cleaning. The home is very homely. All the staff are very friendly, helpful and kind. At times there is a shortage of staff which makes it hard work for remaining staff. Although it is probably due to rotate staff around the different sections it would be nice to have one permanent member on each section because
they get to know the different needs of each resident.
