Chestnut Lodge Care Home

The staff at Chesnut Lodge have been amazing! My Dad has dementia, and was really struggling after several months in hospital before he moved into Chesnut Lodge. The staff have been really attentive and caring, helping him settle. They routinely help him with his everyday needs such as showering, getting
dressed and eating and drinking, which can be challenging but they handle it well, never forcing him just encouraging him.

Chesnut lodge is always clean and tidy and the staff make a lot of effort to engage service users in activities should they want to join in. I was incredibly anxious when my Dad first moved in, but everyone has been so kind and considerate, that it's really helped to put me at ease and know that my Dad is getting the care he needs.

My dad came to Chestnut Lodge in Nov 2024 and both the facilities and staff are second to none!

When visiting him, it is clear that he is well looked after and they understand all of his needs. They are keen for us, as his family to be involved in any activities they have for him.

If we have

any concerns or suggestions, we have no worry about approaching any member of the team and feedback on any action taken is given back to us in a timely manner.

I highly recommend Chestnut Lodge Care Home.

This is an excellent care home. The staff go over and above to ensure my brother's care needs are fully met. My brother has a complicated history, and he can be prone to challenging behaviours. However, the staff have ensured he has help to satisfactorily displace his pent-up frustrations, despite his
behaviour sometimes falling short of what is expected.
I consistently receive a warm greeting from all staff. They remember me by name. Updating me with my brother's needs is no trouble whatsoever. They are to be congratulated for working exceptionally hard despite the challenges presented.

Ensuite room is a disgrace. The room is so small. It has a sink in it and a toilet. They have placed a shower hose on a wall in the small bathroom. There is no partition to separate the shower from the the toilet pan or sink. Anyone stands under that with water coming from it then the floor floods
out with water. It is not safe for a very vulnerable adult like my relative who is has a severe mental health condition. He cannot navigate or use this hose on the wall to shower. He could slip in there and have a serious accident. I have told adult safeguard and they will go and see it. I asked for my brother to be moved from there. He is trapped on the first floor and staff are busy. The lift is run by a key and even I as a visitor feel trapped when I go to see my brother. No fruit is offered to my brother since he has been there. They recently removed a juice machine. I find this place miserly and petty. I do not think it is run well. Certainly no kitchenette for the residents.

Since I have written a review about the care home they have now restricted me from coming to visit my severely disabled brother whom I usually visit once a week minimum. This has caused him and I great distress as I am not able to phone him either and he is in a room with no WIFI access.
