Saffron Gardens Care Home

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
We have recently moved my Granddad to Saffron Gardens from another home in Bristol & we are blown away by the difference. His room and ensuite/wet room are so much bigger and decorated very nicely. The design of each unit is so well thought out and homely. The kitchen area is genuinely like being at
home and not in a home. There is a very evident effort to have daily activities that engage the residents and the activities organiser is so enthusiastic and clearly puts a lot of time and effort into what happens.
The set up of staff is also far better than we have experienced previously, with a dedicated unit leader who knows their residents really well; it is very person centred care. On his unit there are 12 residents so having a dedicated manager who's office is right in the middle of it is brilliant as they are in the thick of it and not tucked away in an office somewhere else in the building where you cannot see them. The continuity of care is so much better.
Reply from Samantha Lloyd, Home Manager at Saffron Gardens Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share your experience and kind words about Saffron Gardens. We are delighted to hear that your Granddad has settled in well and that you've noticed such a positive difference.
Creating a homely, comfortable environment and delivering truly person-centred care are at the heart of what we do, so it's wonderful to know that the room design, kitchen spaces, and daily activities have made an impact. Our team works hard to ensure residents feel engaged and valued, and your comments about the enthusiasm of our activities organiser and the continuity of care mean a lot to us.
We're especially pleased that the dedicated unit leader and the close-knit team approach have helped provide reassurance and familiarity for your Granddad. Your feedback will be shared with the team-they will be thrilled to know their efforts are appreciated.
Thank you again for your thoughtful review and for trusting us with your Granddad's care.

Very clean and tidy always. Food available all the time and good quality. Staff very caring and helpful. Staffing levels are stretched. Activities are good and the local churches etc are very welcoming.

I have found Robinson House to get better over the last year and there are a number of staff who are wonderful and really care. Sometimes I go in and there is no one around but they do have a lot of residents in rooms. The rooms and decor are much improved as the fees, albeit competitive are massive
and the system stinks. There should be more help or tax breaks for people who have saved all their lives. The home is very convenient for me and although mum is asleep a lot in the days, she goes on some fab trips organised by the team who are amazing. Also the food and kitchen staff are great. I am happy with it now as didn't feel it was being managed in past year very well. Would recommend.

I've been visiting for the last 5 yrs and have always found staff polite, caring and approachable whether they are part of the care staff, housekeeping, kitchen or admin.
Individual rooms and facilities are always kept clean, the wet rooms could be modernised but perfectly functionable however, would
also be nice for Mum to have at least a weekly bath.
Food is always good, sometimes a little repetitive. For a small charge relatives can also eat, a daily menu of soup , choice of two main courses and dessert is always confirmed in advance and the kitchen staff can be flexible if necessary and able to offer an alternative to the daily menu.
Activities are varied including occasional trips out and monthly entertainers which Mum enjoys. Relatives can join in too. Sadly in the last few years both the tea room and quiet room have been repurposed.
Care is good but staff levels seem low which, in my opinion, feels staff no longer have time to just sit with residents for any length of time.

Mum has only been a resident for 3 weeks. We looked around about 6 care homes and chose Robinson House as it felt the friendliest home. They were the 1sr home to offer us a cup of tea. When we looked around every member of staff we saw spoke to us. It felt warm and welcoming.
As I said mum has only
been there for 3 weeks but looks better than she has for ages. She's clean, food is excellent (we have even been offered a meal if we ate there at the time. The staff are lovely, friendly and very helpful.
Would recommend it to anybody looking a home for a loved one. X

The care staff are excellent in the way they look after my mother. The only concerns I have is regarding the administration as we were chased for fees due from a dentist who carried out work which we paid to the care home but was not forwarded to dentist who was chasing. The last increase in the fees
were not passed on to my brother until after the arrears had built up over 12 months. He never received notice of increase.

The only drawback I have with Saffron Gardens is that when I phone to speak to my mum, its very difficult ie the phone is rarely answered. This could be due to being short staffed. In general my overall experience is that management/staff are very helpful and caring towards their residents. I could
not wish for a better place for mum.

Dad has been here for quite a while, he was in hospital for a long time and become aggressive, I was anxious about him settling at first here, I could not have been more wrong. when I ask dad his views he says "brilliant" "adequate".
