From the moment my father moved into Stour Road, he has been treated with such care and dignity. His dementia has meant that he had been confused and his behaviour difficult and erratic but the calm atmosphere of this home has encouraged him to relax and find a level of contentment. The staff are
delightful and exceptionally well trained and seem happy to work there. They know each of the residents so well, and gently encourage them to engage with each other so that the feeling is of a home and not a 'facility'. This is an exceptionally well run care home and I could not recommend it highly enough. My sister and I are so grateful that our father was placed here. Thank you to the Care Home Manager, Stacey and all her team.

I wish to leave a review for this carehome because of the excellent care my brother is currently receiving. The staff are very welcoming, diligent and attentive at all times. When we visit, usually 2 or 3 of us, we are made to feel part of a lovely family. Any medical problems are promptly dealt with
in a loving and caring way. I feel that my brother is very lucky to be part of this environment in his latter and most needy years. Also I would like to complement the management and catering staff for their excellent care.
Reply from Nikki Nash, Home manager at St Anne's Care HomeThank you so much for your review. It is a pleasure to support your brother, he is a lovely gentleman and deserves the very best care. I am also happy that you all feel so welcome as that's as important to us as the care we provide. I am very proud to lead such an amazing team and it's so nice that their level of care and commitment is noticed and acknowledged so thank you very much, I will pass your review onto them.
Hope to see you soon.

I have found the care home to be a very caring home with the nicest of staff, who are willing to always go the extra mile for the care of your family member, In my opinion the food cooked by two excellent Chefs l would say is delicious and lots of options, the cakes are perfect. Logistics l would like
there to be another room option l feel too much has to happen in one area , The activities are very well thought and implemented with professionalism. Thank you for all you do for my family member in his journey.

It's a pleasure to be able to support your family member and they always bring such joy to the team.
I agree with all that you say regarding the team and the food, they really are an amazing team, the food is also amazing and prepared with such thought.
Sadly we are unable to provide an additional room but understand your thoughts on this, we will look at how best we can utilise the space we do have.
Thank you again for your review and the kind comments about our home and team, I will pass these to the team as it means so much to them.

My husband has been a resident at St Anne's for nearly three years. He had been previously been sectioned and was very aggressive.
The care home may seem quite small, but it is very homely. His care has been fantastic. The carers are very kind and thoughtful, very patient and look after his every need.
Even in trying situations they keep their cool.
The activities are well thought out and relatives are always invited to join in, although my husband does not participate.
The carers make you feel welcome and it is almost like being in your own home although obviously this is not possible. Every birthday is celebrated and BBQs are held in good weather. The food the Chef prepares for this is amazing. Very glad
Reply from Nikki Nash, Home manager at St Anne's Care HomeThank you so much for your glowing review.
It is a pleasure to have your husband living at St Annes. We are a smaller home, but this enables us to offer person-centred care that is also strengths based. The care staff, as you say, are very patient and always calm no matter what time of day. We pride ourselves on the level of care we deliver alongside the personalised activities and wonderful catering.

My husband has been a resident at St. Anne's for the past three years. He came straight from being in hospital for months, where he'd been sectioned and had round the clock security. He hated personal care and was very hard to handle. With expert care and great patience, although he still shouts
at times of personal care, he is generally much more trusting and fairly docile. The carers are brilliant, and very adept at handling those with challenging behaviour. Therefore I'm extremely grateful.

My mum has been a resident here for nearly 10 years, and I honestly cannot express enough how much this care home has transformed her quality of life. From the very beginning, the level of care, compassion, and attention she has received has been truly exceptional. The staff are absolutely outstanding
- kind, attentive, and genuinely invested in the wellbeing of every resident. The support they provide, not just to my mum but to us as a family, gives us complete peace of mind knowing she is in the most capable and caring hands. The facilities are excellent and always maintained to a high standard, creating a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment. It truly feels like a home, not just a care facility. We feel incredibly fortunate to have found such a wonderful place for our mum, and we are so grateful for everything the team does every single day.
I would highly recommend this care home to anyone looking for the very best for their parent or relative.

Chestnut Court has such a lovely, homely feel from the moment you walk in. The staff are incredibly caring and supportive , nothing is ever too much trouble. The beautiful garden is a real highlight and always so well kept. My mother can be quite fussy with food, but she absolutely loves the fresh,

My mum has been at chestnut court for over 4 years, she has loved being there and has engaged with the manager and staff and has been fairly independent, but in the last year she has declined due to Dementia, but all the staff look after her very well, and go the extra mile to ensure she is cared for
especially the manager who I have found to be very warm and caring and communicates with me at all times, as I don't live close by. I would recommend highly lovely Home and staff

My sister was a resident at Chestnut Court for almost four years. it was a place that made her happy. It gave her security. They took her in as an urgent placement, decided to offer her a permanent place there and she then thrived. It was an absolute blessing for her to have been located at Chestnut
Court, as the staff are the loveliest people and their Manager is professional, approachable and caring. I really cannot recommend this particular care home highly enough.
The home is situated in a lovely part of the world too, it has the most amazing staff and they are led by an equally amazing manager.
Even after losing my sister that support and help has continued from Chestnut Court and that's a rarity. It also shows what a wonderful place it is.
If you're looking for a care home for a loved one then I recommend that you go and have a viewing. It has such a homely atmosphere and it's a really special place.

My Mum Ivy is so well looked after by you- all the care helpers have been really EXCELLENT!
She is going to be 98 this year and you have all looked after her sooooo well! She's been in the care home due a stroke for 7 years and she's such a placid person and loves all the sociability with looking
at peoples faces in the lounge. Sometimes she has her nails painted and always has her hair washing and then curled. It makes her feel young even though she's the oldest resident in the care- home! See has been through Covid and many other things, sometimes she gets a couple of chest infections because she's old but she always get better you always sort these important things out. She loves to sit in the lounge and have her Christmas dinner with a Christmas red hat on. Later on on Christmas Day she gets a present from you from charity someone organises.
She's always being very well fed and she looks plump and rosy cheeked. Your BRILLIANT with her THANK YOU!!!!
Reply from Stacey Williams, Registered Manager at Stour Road Care HomeThank you so much for your kind and thoughtful review.
Mum is a pleasure to care for, and we're so pleased to hear how happy and comfortable she is with us. It's lovely that she enjoys time in the lounge, as well as having her hair and nails done, those moments really do make a difference.
We're also glad she enjoys our special celebrations, especially Christmas! Supporting her health and wellbeing is always our priority, and it means a lot to know you feel she is well looked after.
Thank you again for your lovely feedback, it's truly appreciated.

The staff are very kind to both the residents and their families. The carers in my opinion are amazing. Their gentle approach has gained my husband's trust and they have worked with him to carry out podiatry, hair care, wet shaving and showering something that he hadn't allowed anyone to do during the
past 7 months whilst he was in hospital.

I find the management approachable and willing to work with you for the best outcome for your loved one. I feel able to raise any concerns I may have.

Since my husband took up residency there has been a family party at Christmas and my 5 grandchildren were made very welcome. There were Christmas crackers and a live singer on new years day and this weekend the home is celebrating st valentine's day with a cream tea and a live singer.
It isn't a hotel type of nursing home, has a more homely feel and whenever I visit (which I do most days as there are no restrictions on visiting times) the carers always give a lovely welcome

Reply from Nikki Nash, Home manager at St Anne's Care HomeThank you so much for you lovely review.
We are always open to improve the care we offer and are glad we have made such a difference to not just your husband but to the support we are able to offer you too. We are working on improving the facilities in the home but this takes time as you know.
The support network with our families is growing and offers an open platform for you all to chat and enjoy the activities on offer each week. All families and visitors are welcome anytime of the day or night and we are glad we have made you and your extended family so welcome, we love the visits especially from the younger members of the families.
Thank you again for your review, it really means a lot and i will pass this onto the team at St Annes.
Best wishes
Nikki, home manager.

Our relative has been at Chestnuts for nearly two years. We looked at other homes before we found this one. We wanted a small place homely atmosphere, which was evident on our initial visit.
During this time our relative has had many health issues. The Manager and staff team have been thorough, thoughtful
and kind in dealing with her needs and care. We have been notified whenever there has been a change in her health.
There is an activities co-ordinator during the weekdays, who organises visiting entertainers and activities.
Food is prepared from scratch, home made soups, cakes and meals, it looks lovely, smells good too.
The home has a close working relationship with the Health Centre, weekly visits from a dedicated team provide preventive care.
As a family, one of us tries to visit on most days, we are always made to feel welcome, we have got to know most of the residents.
Chestnuts has provided a caring home for our relative and has given us peace of mind too.

My Mum has dementia and moved into Chestnut Court in Spring 2025. I am really pleased that she is there, she is well looked after and safe. The care home manager and staff are all lovely, friendly and welcoming. There's a wide range of activities running every day which are all excellent, my Mum enjoys
these. Chestnut Court is very clean, Mum has a lovely room and the home is really well run. I feel very reassured that my Mum is in such a good care home; I visit regularly and the staff are always kind and caring with each individual resident. It's a homely and happy place.

My dad has been a full time resident at Chestnut Court for approximately 2 years now, and he receives excellent care and attention from all of the team there.

The staff are extremely caring, friendly and welcoming when we go to visit my dad, and a cuppa and biscuit are always offered.

The activities

team work really hard to keep all of the residents entertained, with family orientated events such as garden tea parties and trips to the beach.

Also, a special mention to the Chestnut Court manager who went above and beyond to be there for the family when my mum passed away recently.

Overall a fantastic, well run and extremely friendly care home.

We had to look for a care home for mum at 91 after she broke her hip and was diagnosed with vascular dementia. It was an emotional and difficult decision as mum wanted to stay living independently in her bungalow. I visited many care homes and immediately felt Chestnut Court was the home for mum with
its homely atmosphere and welcoming and friendly staff. The carers and myself supported mum settling in. Mum has been living at Chestnut Court for over 2 years and is very happy there. The carers are the loveliest people who all love mum and give her excellent care so that I don't have to worry about her. The care manager, an ex carer herself, is very hands on with the residents and carers. She is very open to any suggestions that I make and is a very caring person. Mum enjoys all the activities. The food is excellent and mum eats well and has put on weight eating all the homemade cakes and puddings. With its homely, community atmosphere, I would highly recommend Chestnut Court.

My poor husband suffered so much in the last days of his life. This place is awful, the end of life care is dreadful. Three days before he died I found him in agony with his head on the foot of the bed. He was crying and said to me for gods sake help me. When he died he was left eyes bulging mouth wide
open, it was like a horror movie. Bad management all the way, no one should end up like this. I am sorry I have nothing good to say about this place. I have many more stories, none good. The experience has shaken me.
Reply from Lisa Shaylor, Home Manager at Chestnut Court Care HomeOur staff are committed to providing the highest standard of care. We take all concerns/complaints seriously, using them as opportunities for reflection and continuous improvement. Upon being made aware of this complaint, we commissioned an independent Health and Social Care consultant to conduct a thorough investigation. The findings confirmed no evidence of unprofessional conduct or poor practice in relation to the sad passing of our resident. As part of the investigation, external healthcare professionals who regularly support residents at Chestnut Court were consulted. They confirmed that they attended on a regular basis, no concerns were found. The investigation also determined that some of the claims made in the review were not factually accurate. Whilst this person was a resident, their care, respect, and dignity remained our utmost priority. We understand that losing a loved one is an incredibly difficult time, we extend our sincere condolences to the family during this time.

The overall care from all staff - nurses, cleaners to management has been excellent. My husband has been unwell on several occasions - it has been picked up quickly, medical attention has been sought in a very quick manor. They always call me so I can attend and on the last occasion we decided to treat
in the home they were seeing him every 30 minutes to hydrate and turn him.
Any issues are dealt with promptly and with no fuss. Activities are daily and they encourage residents to join in which I couldn't achieve at home. He's now needing help with feeding and has become incontinent and these have been managed before I even realised they were an issue.
