The team at Westwood court were great in the care for my mum who had vascular dementia, they made everyday life easier for us knowing that she was being looked after properly. We are also eternally grateful for the care they gave my dad who visited everyday, they made sure that he was doing okay and
supplied him with a meal every lunchtime ensuring that he had at least one hot meal a day.
The nursing team would make sure that we were aware of any changes to mum's care and would always make us feel welcome when we would visit.

My dad has been well cared for. He is clean and seems comfortable and settled. Information regarding him is relayed well and there is no problem in asking questions to staff.
Activities are delivered to residents on a daily basis by friendly and approachable staff. These are thought through and staff
try to provide a variety to appeal to interests and needs of clients. My dad enjoys the events that include singers and has had sessions meeting ponies and dogs .
My only negative is that I would like my dad to be up more to experience more social interaction with others in the lounge. Even though communication is hard he still likes to watch what is going on.
Reply from Nicky Vaughan, Manager at Westwood CourtThank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're pleased to hear that your dad is well cared for, comfortable and settled, and that communication with our team has been clear and supportive. Ensuring families feel informed and able to ask questions is very important to us.
We're also glad to know your dad enjoys the activities and events we provide, especially the visiting entertainers and animal sessions, which our team works hard to tailor to residents' interests and needs.
Thank you for sharing your constructive feedback regarding social time in the lounge. We appreciate you raising this and will take your comments on board, as supporting meaningful interaction and engagement is a key part of our care. Please feel free to discuss this further with the team so we can explore how best to support your dad's preferences.

My mother has been in Westwood Court for over 2 years and I cannot fault the care and attention she receives from all the staff. We were forced by my mum's previous care home to move her and chose Westwood Court and we couldn't have been more pleased as a result. Previously my mum was forced to wait
to be taken to the toilet, often 20 mins, in Westwood Court it's only about 2 mins. Carers are a plentiful in the lounge, many on 1-2-1 with the residents, again not what we experienced by the previous home. Activities and entertainment are plentiful and cater for patience different needs. My mum unfortunately has dementia but at Westwood Court she has the best life possible.
Westwood also cared for my father from April 25 to Dec 25 when he sadly passed.
I would and do regularly recommend Westwood Court to anyone needing to place a loved one into a care home.
Reply from Nicky Vaughan, Manager at Westwood CourtThank you for taking the time to share such a thoughtful review. Your kind words mean a great deal to everyone at Westwood Court.
It has been a privilege to care for your mum over the past two years, and we're delighted to hear that the care, staffing levels and activities have made such a positive difference to her quality of life. Providing responsive, compassionate care - especially for those living with dementia - is central to everything we do.
We were also honoured to have cared for your father during his time with us and are very sorry for your loss. It was truly lovely to support both your mum and dad here at Westwood Court.
Thank you for your trust and for recommending us to others - feedback like yours is incredibly meaningful to our whole team.

My wife has many COMPLEX PROBLEMS and we needed a Care Facility after spending 13 MONTHS in and out of Hospital. We were given a few Options to choose from and the LOCATION to be with her , a Place to meet all her needs , and Care to be CONFIDENT WITH all these Ingredients, were required .
The
Care Home ROYAL PARK is immaculately Clean , Staff very reassuring , Secure and Safe , Parking a delight .
My wife after just a few weeks changed and is more RELAXED , AND IS GETTING BETTER although a long way to go yet , a long way . We are CONFIDENT for her stay here till things Improve within herself .
I have visited every day and watched my wife improve as we go along , such a change from being HOSPITALIZED .
I have looked at other Care Homes and I KNOW i have CHOSEN WELL and would thoroughly Recommend this particular Care Home to anyone with the COMPLEX NEEDS of my wife .
Very Pleased after just 3 months .

The care home in which our mother is a resident is overall very good. (Our mother has Dementia) The reason I haven't given it 5 stars is that, although our mother can he difficult, our gripe is with her hearing aids. At times when we visit, she hasn't got them in, and times like when I went to visit
her yesterday, she did have them in, but they weren't switched on. Another small gripe is that some of her clothes go missing only for us to see other residents wearing them, even though her name and room number is inside the garments/shoes.
Reply from Natalie Lamoon, Registered Manager at Riverlea HouseThank you very much for your feedback and for bringing these concerns to light. We have invested in sensory training and 1-1 training sessions for the hearing aids, as some are not clear and different to generic aids often in use. We, of course, can not force anyone to wear an aid, but are committed to finding a non-distressing way to manage this area. Our laundry team are dedicated to resolving any mishaps, and we will be investing in clear, sewn in name tags to prevent the spread of ink / deforming numbers in a dignified manner to prevent re-occurrence of missing items.

Riverlea is a wonderful home. It's light and airy and very clean, it doesn't smell. The carers and cleaners are absolutely brilliant. So caring. They have regular activities and most importantly they don't treat our elderly as children. They treat them as their elderly parent - they have a small bar
called the Drunken Duck and if somebody wants a glass of wine or beer they can have it. My mum doesn't have dementia, but the home is mixed and everybody gets used to it and help each other. Best care home I could have hoped for - and I saw a few before I decided this was best. Mum loves it and I know staff are loving mum as she's a feisty old bird that will give them a run for money. I'm saving up for a room - it's really good.
Reply from Natalie Lamoon, Registered Manager at Riverlea HouseThank you for your lovely review. I have passed your comments on to our team and will continue to strive to provide the highest level of care and support. We also look forward to supporting you in the future.

The staff are what really makes Riverlea House. Super helpful, caring, patient, interested and professional at all times. We have been very impressed with and grateful for the help we have had in transitioning Mum to residential care, they have been with us every step of the way, nothing has been too
much trouble. Even to the extent of accommodating Mum with her particular likes and dislikes, e.g. brown bread, fresh fruit etc! Riverlea House is in a lovely location, nestled in the very picturesque village of River with a garden backing onto the River Dour. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

My mum had recently had a stroke and heart failure and was not well enough to go home post a hospital stay. The staff have gone above and beyond to improve mum's health and well being following this long stay in hospital. Nothing is too much trouble and they really " care" about all of their residents.
The warmth and professionalism of the staff is just amazing, we have really seen an improvement in mum's health whilst she was there. The facilities and care are good and I would highly recommend.

I have nothing but praise for Riverlea Care Home, especially the manager. Our situation was complex, but she supported us every step of the way, ensuring my mum's smooth transition from an inadequate placement. Thanks to her dedication, my mum has improved significantly.
A professional involved in
our case recently described Riverlea as the best care home he has seen since Covid.
The staff are welcoming, creating a true sense of community within a safe and nurturing environment. There are a range of activities and events. Food and drink are plentiful.
Moving my mum to Riverlea last year was the best decision we could have made. I'm truly grateful for the care provided and highly recommend.

Have excellent relations with staff, all speak to them clinical, cleaners, laundry and care. Nothing is too much trouble, some staff telephone if anything out of the ordinary happens. Kept well informed.
There are many homely things, cat wonders around, chickens in the garden, I can hear cockerel crowing
now, which takes 'wife and I' back to the countryside.
She has been here for over three years; if in future I need care, will be happy to come here.
