I would like to formally acknowledge and commend the significant improvements in the care provided to my father-in-law.

Following the safeguarding concerns that were previously raised, we met the manager to discuss the findings of her report, and it is clear to us that the concerns were taken seriously and that appropriate internal actions have been implemented. We appreciate the openness and transparency shown throughout the process.

Since that time, we have seen a marked improvement in my father-in-law's day-to-day care. The team has consistently demonstrated professionalism, compassion, and dedication, working closely with us as a family, alongside his medical professionals, to ensure that his complex medical and behavioural needs are understood and appropriately supported.

We recognise the hard work, patience, and commitment shown by all the staff, and we would like to express our sincere gratitude for the care and support they continue to provide.

Upon my dads arrival in the assessment wards the care, cleanliness help he received was brilliant, he was then moved over to another ward awaiting a residential move and everything went down hill, out of the week I would visit 5 day, he had no clean clothes, no remote for his TV so no tv in his room the whole time he was there, furniture falling apart, his room was full of ants, most days I arrived he was on the floor, yet another fall, for 2 wks I shared my concerns but nothing was done, to then receive a call (from the nice nurse) to say he had fell in the garden causing a huge deep cut on his forehead down to his skull, i still don't know or understand how this occurred, as he couldn't walk unaided, needed assistance, but for this to happen he must have been alone, he was transferred to hospital and 3 wks later still there, still no call from the management explaining anything, i did received a call from the hospital to say the home have released his bed and he won't be going back.

DO NOT let your relatives live here. We have had to raise numerous safeguarding issues that were so delayed in a response and issues are brushed under the carpet. Management has changed at least 8 times in the time my father has been a resident and so the approach to managing this complex home is flawed.
The staff who work there are under a lot of pressure (so many have left) with no support from management. They have recently reduced the staff ratio WITHOUT informing family members and constantly shift caring staff to other units. They don't have time to bond or get to know each residents specialised needs.

Our dad was given the covid booster against our express written wishes. They are now evicting our father as with no true justification. "We cannot meet his needs" but they could 4 weeks ago in a social review. Surprisingly evicted after another complaint. If you have relatives here I recommend you get them out asap for your loved ones sake and your own sanity!

Do not send your family to this care home.
They have had over eight managers in the space of three years.
Every time you raise a complaint with the management team, they suggest that you move your family member to another Home if you are not happy.
They do not respond to complaints in a timely manner and they have an excuse for every single safeguarding that you raise.
They manipulate their staff and coerce them to give a false representation of how your family member has been. We know staff who have previously worked for the company and have been told how much management coerced them. They left because of this.
The staff on the floor Work extremely hard and management do not support them whatsoever.
They gave our father a Covid jab when we signed 3 forms to ask them not to due to his epilepsy.

They are now evicting our father because we raise safeguarding concerns. They play the system. We strongly recommend you do not send your family member there.

Review of Hawthorne House from A T (Daughter of Resident) published on 17 February 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Our mother has been in Hawthorne House for just under 2 years. There has been several changes in management structure which is not always good.

Our contact with management has been largely driven through complaints, otherwise there is minimal communication with families in general. The permanent staff are kind and accommodating but the use of agency staff negatively impacts residents with dementia and MH issues due to lack of familiarisation.
Cleaning standards were very poor but have slightly improved due to the pending CQC inspection.

The food has improved recently, however we feel there was not much focus on our mothers dietry needs. The laundry process requires ongoing attention, the home has lost multiple items clothing which we have had to replace and we were advised a labelling machine would be purchased but this has yet to transpire.

My son is happy and settled and is receiving the best care. He enjoys the food and the staff are very kind and friendly and always make me feel comfortable when I visit, the only issue we have encountered is that some of my sons clothing do not return from the laundry, we have now labelled all his clothes and hopefully this should minimise this to happen again.

Review of The Avenue from Cherry H (Wife of Resident) published on 4 February 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My husband has been a resident since December 2025. He is happy, contented and extremely well cared for. I have nothing but praise for all the staff at this nursing home. Every member of staff is caring, kind and empathetic to my husband and also to me (his wife).
This home is clean and bright. The food is very good with choices. Drinks are distributed regularly as are comfort breaks for residents. My husband's ensuite room is excellent. His clothes are washed and dried as needed and with care.
There are regular activities. Reggie and Ronnie, the homes pet guinea pigs make regular appearances for the residents to pet if they wish.
All the staff are very knowledgeable and any questions I ask are answered promptly and honestly.
I can visit him whenever I want to.
I am really pleased my husband is being looked after at this home. I can leave, after my visits, knowing he is safe and being looked after with care and kindness.

Thank you all so much

My nan has been a resident of the Care Home since November 2024. She lived at home alone until her Dementia disease progressed to such a point we could no longer safely manage her at home.
Since that admittance she has settled really well and the care staff have always been extremely polite and helpful. We've had a couple of instances where she's fallen, but the staff have been quick to react and deal with the situation, keeping the family updated through the whole process.

The care staff who are in the home on a daily basis, who we've had the pleasure of getting to know during our weekly visits are amazing. I say every time I'm in there that they're absolute angels - its not a job for the faint of heart and they carry it out with smiles on their faces.

Management highly responsive to suggestions for improvement and very proactive. A good 'can do' feeling. Care staff ratio to residents good. Care staff are kind, responsive and caring. All staff are friendly and chatty and welcoming. Residents are well cared for and treated with dignity and respect. Activities offer is patchy but this is being addressed. On the whole the food is tasty and appetising and there is plenty of it. There is a developing family feel.

My mother has been with you since November 2024, and during that time, I have only seen love, kindness and understanding given to her. As with all residents, I am sure they all have their different personalities, and the staff have an understanding of what she likes and dislikes; they allow the resident to still have choices and opinions. As I am sure all families have felt, to finally admit that I was incapable of caring properly for my mother and needing to put her into care, was an upsetting thought. But I can live with the knowledge that she has the best care I could have wished for.
