My experience of Carntyne care home is very positive. We've been visiting regularly over the last 12 months. Importantly our friend is very settled and she likes most of the staff They are very busy but are always very welcoming. It is sparkling clean - the communal areas + our friends room. She always has clean clothes on + drinks close to hand.

Overall Experience
I had a clientwho had had a fall, the injuries meant he cold no longer live independantly. Carntyne proved to be a welcoming, sensitive environment for him. They treated him with dignity and respect despite the injury meaning he could be challenging. The food is all freshly cooked and tailor to the individuals needs. It is a small intimate care home with dedicated staff , many having decades at the home, who really seem to care for the residents . Their team work is exemplary. I witnessed incredible flexibility and diligence whether with meds or an extensive program of activities to engage and enrich daily life. The overall manager is focussed, knowledgable and commited.
On one occassion she had come in to cover a night shift. They seem to have each others backs.

It has taken my friend a very long time to adapt to life in the home, but now, thanks to support and encouragement from the staff, she seems more settled and content. She really enjoyed the "sing-along" this afternoon. We both enjoyed tea and lovely cheese scones during my visit today!

Overall Experience
Right from day one Birch Hill provided the very best in caring, kindness, and professionalism, all delivered with a happy and friendly approach. They provide a wonderful family atmosphere where all residents are recognized as individuals, and their specific needs are thoughtfully considered and met. The Birch Hill team is on top of the day to day needs of each resident, as well as having a longer term plan of the overall care they are providing. They are excellent at advocating on behalf of each resident with multidisciplinary medical teams. I live in Australia and am only able to be in the UK maximum once a year. I video call Mum several times a week and the team are always really happy to set up the iPad and take it along to Mum so we can have a good chat and stay connected. I am conscious that this interrupts the team's normal work day routine but everyone is so willing to help and I feel they truly recognize how important this to us.
I am just so happy Mum is at Birch Hill.

My partner has now been a resident in Birch Hill Care Home for 18 months. Ever since she came to the care home we both can only say with the utmost honesty the care and support has been exceptional, the staff have become our special friends.
Nothing is to much trouble to them at all, the staff go the extra yard when care and support is needed. Total commitment from them all. I visit my partner every day and I can arrive and depart without any worries knowing she is being well cared for 100%.

New residents recently, all in different stages of dementia.
I visit my husband everyday so I know the staff and their kind treatment. Their patience & understanding & calmness to the newcomers was outstanding but no neglect to the other residents, and as always never a cross word or gossipy talk.

Creating a relaxed, homely environment is very important to us, and I'm glad that comes across. I'll be sure to share your feedback with the team-they'll really appreciate it. Thank you again.
Due to his health, Dad was struggling in his independent community for older people. Particularly regarding his meds and regular eating. This was impacting on his health problems. Carntyne was recommended to us so we approached them and asked them for help with respite care. They are so helpful, informed and professional. His health and strength are much improved. This is due to the care he receives particularly in regard to dispensing his meds, and regular eating. The environment safely caters for the elderly who need assistance with living and remaining as strong as possible.
He has shown a huge improvement.

Our friend was a resident in Carntyne Rest home for 9 months until we sadly lost him in December 25. He was 91. During his stay at Carntyne, he was looked after tirelessly by caring and attentive staff. The manager Diane & all the staff were very approachable & nothing was to much trouble. He was comfortable in Carntyne and always spoke well of the carers, & kitchen staff who all worked as a team. It's a lovely location, quiet and peaceful. He had a lovely room over looking the park in Hexham. When we visited all patients were treat with respect & we were always welcomed with open arms.
We could not of wished for better care for him.

Overall Experience
Well . . . ! Where to start . . . ? As an almost daily visitor to Carntyne Residential Care Home for the last eight months I have become quite familiar with the routine running of this, what I can only describe, as "Home from Home". The staff are fabulous; nothing is too much trouble and best of all, their cheerful manner is infectious, allowing the residents to feel secure within a homely environment. I have visited many establishments in my lifetime and experienced mixed reactions from others who are critical of "old folks homes that smell awful and make them feel as if they don't wish to stay very long". NOT at Carntyne! (In fact, the only thing that you could possibly say is that the flavours emanating from the kitchen/dining-room are indicative of the wonderful meals provided for the residents).
Only last week I happened to come across several members of staff in Reception and I actually said that I'd be more than happy to live there when the time comes - and I meant it!
