We are very happy with the care provided to my mother-in-law, now 97, at Elm Bank. The home is well staffed and staff are always on hand and know how she is doing. They come across as caring and competent. She has put on weight so the food must be okay- and we like the fact that there is a dedicated
dining room. Realistically, we don't think we could find anywhere better suited to her needs.

Moving a loved one into a residential care home is a stressful and emotional time but I have to say the home manager put my mind at ease very quickly, my husband settled in almost immediately saying he feels relaxed and not frightened at all. All the staff are caring, helpful and spend time with the
person they are attending to. I cannot speak more highly of them, my whole family are grateful for the care and support from the team at Dene Grange.

Transitioning a loved one into care can be an emotional and uncertain time, but our experience with Dene Grange has been nothing short of exceptional. From the very beginning, the home manager and her dedicated team have gone above and beyond to ensure that my Father felt welcomed, respected, and truly
cared for.

What could have been a stressful and difficult adjustment was instead made smooth and reassuring, not just for my Father, but for my Mother too. The staff's compassion, patience, and professionalism have been evident in every interaction. They've taken the time to get to know my Father as an individual, understanding his needs and preferences, and have supported him with warmth and dignity.

The home manager leads by example, fostering a culture of kindness and attentiveness that permeates the entire home. Her team is consistently approachable, communicative, and proactive, which has given our family great peace of mind.

We are deeply grateful for the care and support provided at Dene Grange.

My mum has had 2 stints at Elm Bank care home for respite care and I am very impressed with how well she was looked after. Her room was clean and bright and the team helped us make sure she was comfortable. Meals were excellent - mum particularly enjoyed the home made cakes, puddings and biscuits. I
was offered lunch a couple of times and food was tasty and well cooked. I would definitely recommend Elm Bank to anyone looking for respite or longer term care for a relative.

Reply from John, Home Manager at Elm Bank Care Home

sorted immediately...dad's not a social man and doesn't join in many activities but loves to wander and stop and chat to everyone...
I would recommend any kind of stay here..

My mum was a resident for little more than 4 months. She sustained more than 7 unwitnessed falls during that time, the last of which causing her to fracture her femur. She was admitted to hospital and died of post surgical complications. I regret ever deciding that mum would be better cared for in Elm
Bank. There were many aspects, too many to mention, of her care that fell short. I would not recommend this care home.

My mam who has dementia moved into Dene Grange a couple of months ago from another care home. The move was seamless and she settled in straight away. We are very happy with the care at Dene Grange and the leadership provided by the Manager. The team have an excellent understanding of my mam's needs
and provide a welcoming, warm, friendly, happy and caring home from home. Above all else the most important aspect when choosing a home for mam has been the staffs commitment to care and that is very plain to see. If you are having to make the very difficult decision for your loved one to go into care, look no further.

Mom has been a resident at Dene Grange for nearly 2 years now and I'm so glad this was where I picked for Mom to have her twilight years. The staff are all so friendly and caring, activities and events keep them all entertained, Mom is challenging in lots of ways with her dementia but her carer especially
finds the best way to approach Mom to make sure she keeps hygiene and medication as it should be. The management team are always ready to chat if you have any concerns or need reassurance, I struggle with visiting now as I'm in out if the area and run pubs so can't visit as often as I'd like, I never get made to feel like I'm letting Mom down. The manager will ring me and keep me informed of any changes or updates so I know what's going on day to day. All in all, Dene Grange is a family for your loved ones when you can't be there, don't hesitate in making it your choice

Dene Grange Care Home

from Stephen A (Partner of Resident) published on 21 November 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My partner has been a full time dementia resident for 5 weeks. She is in a new/refurbished wing. It's spotless and there's no odour that there seems to be in other homes I've visited. Her room is a decent size with WC etc. Food is very good and hot meal at lunch time and tea time. Sandwiches in the
evening as well as mid-morning and mid-afternoon drinks and biscuits. Hair salon available but not been used yet by partner as she keeps refusing a trim! Sizeable lounge and a large tv which has a popular channel as well as usual channels. Cosy dining room too. Staff are very good and caring and seem to handle my sometimes moody and irritable partner with ease! There are activities but none attended by partner as yet. She's still in the settling in stage but I leave her when I visit knowing that she is safe, cared for and fed. I take her into town some days which boosts her mood as she remembers there are shops to spend money in. I'd recommend Dene Grange to anyone thinking of going there for a short stay or full time placement.

Our mam has been a resident at Elm Bank for 4 months. We are delighted at how well she has settled in. The staff are all amazing, they are kind, helpful and very dedicated. They treat the residents with great care, attention and dignity. The communication is excellent. We're kept informed of any issues
that mam may have and informed of any upcoming medical appointments. The food looks delicious and there is always a good choice. The afternoon cuppa seems to be a firm favourite with mam, and she loves the homemade cakes and biscuits. We always feel so welcome when we visit. We often take our two golden retrievers in and they absolutely adore the attention that they get from everyone in Elm Bank...and the treats! We are so relieved that we have found such a wonderful place for mam. We know she is well cared for, safe and secure and we can't thank the staff enough. We have had a bad experience with a previous home and cannot express how different Elm Bank is. Well done to all!

I have been a resident at Elm Bank Care Home since 30th of June 2023. I moved in after a long stay in hospital because I need knee replacement surgery. I have had one knee done but I am on the waiting list for the second one and I can't go home because I can't walk and use a power wheelchair. l like
staying here all the staff are very friendly and helpful the rooms are very nice and the food is good and I can go out in to town when l like. l have the choice to do activities or sit in the lounge but I prefer to keep myself to myself and stay in my room. I also have my meals in my room. At first, I wasn't very keen about moving in here but I have gotten used to it and I have come to terms with the fact I am unable to go anywhere else at the moment.
