My dad has settled really well since he has been at Elm Bank. A temporary arrangement initially but now permanent and all of the management / staff have made this a seamless process. My dad and my family have built a rapport with the staff who are always friendly, caring and attentive and remain professional at all times. The communication is very good so we are made aware of any changes as they happen. Very happy with the arrangement.

Reply from Maxwell Andrews, Marketing Lead at Elm Bank Care Home

Thank you for your kind words. We're really pleased your dad has settled so well at Elm Bank and that the move from temporary to permanent felt seamless. Building that rapport with families matters to us, as does keeping communication clear so you're always in the loop. We'll pass your thanks on to the management and staff.

Dene Grange is such a wonderful care home - strongly led, with such a wonderfully caring team. I have been a nurse for 35 years, and so I can say that from both a professional perspective - and from a daughter of a much-loved father, I am delighted with the care he receives. He is cared for with dignity, respect and love. All vital - from carers who genuinely seem to enjoy their work. Thank God for places and people like this. You are all amazing.

Reply from Lucifer Hepburn, Social Media Assistant at Dene Grange Care Home

Review of Dene Grange Care Home from S A (Partner of Resident) published on 8 April 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

Dene Grange is a very clean home. The staff are dedicated and whatever the carers are paid, it isn't enough. They're all very approachable and hardworking. They treat residents very well, and with dignity. The manager and nurses are really good at their jobs too and try to solve any problems swiftly. The room for my partner is just right. Perfect size with her own W.C. and sink. The food is really good. Lots of vegetables and the roasts look beautiful. Tea time is very varied too. Burgers, pasta, soups and lots of other choices. The home is secure and definitely worth what we pay. I can relax knowing she is well looked after. There are lots of varied activities and entertainment too.

The staff friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. It generally feel welcoming, clean and tidy. I have not been advised of daily activities. there is an outdoors area for residents to enjoy safely. Food is served and they accommodate for glue free diet. We have been very informed about care decisions and management have supported us with any medical treatment or disputes with outside medical support.

Dad arrived in Dene Grange the day before Christmas Eve, a very emotional day for us as a family and of course Dad. The staff were all so supportive, caring and reassuring and made Dad so welcome. In the early days Dad took a little while to settle due to his Dementia and health issues.
I can happily say Dad has settled into Dene grange.
He is very well cared for always nicely dressed and clean. The staff are amazing with Dad.
Food is very good. Dad's room is always clean and tidy. We can visit anytime of the day and made welcome.

I must also add we are so lucky to have Dene Grange in Hexham.

We find the staff at Elm Bank very friendly and caring, and always feel that we are leaving our Mam in safe hands. She is settled and seems content. We are always consulted as soon as there is any problem with her health, and a doctor is called whenever necessary. She joins in activities provided and is in a good routine.

I have found the staff very helpful, and very supportive to my uncle. Sadly he can ve a bit difficult at times. However, this is more from frustration at his situation rather then anything anyone has said or done.

All the staff are welcoming, he doesn't engage in the activities so I can't comment.

Review of Elm Bank Care Home from Francis S (Son-in-law of Resident) published on 31 July 2025 Submitted via Website

We are very happy with the care provided to my mother-in-law, now 97, at Elm Bank. The home is well staffed and staff are always on hand and know how she is doing. They come across as caring and competent. She has put on weight so the food must be okay- and we like the fact that there is a dedicated dining room. Realistically, we don't think we could find anywhere better suited to her needs.

Review of Dene Grange Care Home from Carol C (Wife of Resident) published on 25 June 2025 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

Moving a loved one into a residential care home is a stressful and emotional time but I have to say the home manager put my mind at ease very quickly, my husband settled in almost immediately saying he feels relaxed and not frightened at all. All the staff are caring, helpful and spend time with the person they are attending to. I cannot speak more highly of them, my whole family are grateful for the care and support from the team at Dene Grange.

Review of Dene Grange Care Home from Graeme C (Son of Resident) published on 16 June 2025 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Transitioning a loved one into care can be an emotional and uncertain time, but our experience with Dene Grange has been nothing short of exceptional. From the very beginning, the home manager and her dedicated team have gone above and beyond to ensure that my Father felt welcomed, respected, and truly cared for.

What could have been a stressful and difficult adjustment was instead made smooth and reassuring, not just for my Father, but for my Mother too. The staff's compassion, patience, and professionalism have been evident in every interaction. They've taken the time to get to know my Father as an individual, understanding his needs and preferences, and have supported him with warmth and dignity.

The home manager leads by example, fostering a culture of kindness and attentiveness that permeates the entire home. Her team is consistently approachable, communicative, and proactive, which has given our family great peace of mind.

We are deeply grateful for the care and support provided at Dene Grange.

My mum has had 2 stints at Elm Bank care home for respite care and I am very impressed with how well she was looked after. Her room was clean and bright and the team helped us make sure she was comfortable. Meals were excellent - mum particularly enjoyed the home made cakes, puddings and biscuits. I was offered lunch a couple of times and food was tasty and well cooked. I would definitely recommend Elm Bank to anyone looking for respite or longer term care for a relative.

Reply from John, Home Manager at Elm Bank Care Home

Dad wasn't sure when he had a room upstairs whilst being assessed for his safety and ability to live in downstairs room..he moved downstairs about a year ago..he has settled so well..the staff are down to earth and caring..any questions we as a family have are answered straight away..any issues are sorted immediately...dad's not a social man and doesn't join in many activities but loves to wander and stop and chat to everyone...

I would recommend any kind of stay here..
