My auntie had been at Hillyfield Rest Home for 3 years and was so happy to be there. She was so well looked after which made us feel she was in a safe environment. Well-fed, the food is made from scratch and wholesome and the entertainment is excellent. I enjoyed it myself on my visits. Her room was clean and comfortable, as is the rest of the home. She enjoyed the day trips out in the minibus, the garden is a lovely garden to sit in and chat with other residents. The TV in the lounge is big enough for everyone to see. Overall, we have been very impressed with Hillyfield Rest Home and Auntie's care right to the end of her life was with dignity and kindness.
Hi Carol, thank you so much for your lovely review, so pleased you were happy with the care we provided.
Hillyfield Rest Home is a gem of a care home. They were able to take my mother in urgently for respite care following her discharge from hospital. The experience was reassuring and professional. My mother thrived in their care. Kind and caring staff. Wouldnt hesitate to recommend.
I have found the staff to be very caring and professional looking after my aunt. I have been visiting all week and found her to be well cared for. Phoning to speak to her is not a problem for the staff. My aunt is happy there.
Dear M.H, thank you for a lovely review, I am delighted that you are happy with the care your Aunt receives.
I love it and would highly recommend it. Hillyfield is a small, hands-on home. The owner is there most days checking on the level of care and stops by the resident's rooms to talk to them. He, and actually all the staff, are constantly looking for ways to improve the experience of the residents and the care given to them. The food is homecooked and excellent. My mother is blind, and every effort is made to include her in activities even though she can't see. She has been there for six months and is very happy. Staff are kind, caring and totally "on it". They notice when my mum has a problem and deal with it.
Many thanks for your review. We are delighted to hear such lovely comments.
Kind regards
Sasi
Very friendly and caring home! First-class staff and well managed.
Dear Giles, thank you for your review.
I have found the home to be a very good, family orientated care home, where staff take time to get to know the residents very well. It has a homely feel and is situated very close to the lovely village centre, with some nice excursions arranged for residents to the coast and forest.
The last 5/6 weeks of life, she was looked after in a professional and compassionate way, and I was kept informed regularly by the deputy manager - who was excellent.
My mum spent nearly two years here and settled in after a few months. She grew to love the care staff and she was always up and dressed and looking happy whenever I came to visit. She enjoyed the company of the other residents and loved going on trips out in the minibus. Many of the staff have been there a long time and they are friendly and caring and there was often an atmosphere of fun and a lot of laughing. The food is excellent. Sadly my mum died without her being able to see me or her family due to the care home’s strict execution of the rules around visitors during ‘lockdown’. Communication from the management could be better, although I accept that the Covid 19 situation presented exceptional circumstances.
My mother has been a resident at Hillyfield for four years now. She has been very happy and is thriving in the small, family-like environment. Hillyfield have been wonderful in managing her dementia and she is well cared for in all aspects of her life.
He went there initially, on recommendation, for a period of respite care after a fall at home. The family quickly realised he would need care on a longer basis and were so impressed by the friendliness and loving approach at the home, we enquired whether this would be possible. The staff and manager were very supportive and Dad was settled into his own room within weeks. Hillyfields has a combination of professionalism and warmth which has seen my father settle in far better than we expected. We were reticent about moving him into a home but in truth, he’s far more comfortable and better cared for at Hillyfields than he would have been in his own place. We would thoroughly recommend Hillyfields and during this current crisis have been extremely proactive in locking down early and managing the situation with intelligence and compassion.
Her mobility improved whilst in the care home. It was a huge relief to her friends and family that she was so well cared for and the flexibility and accommodating nature of the staff was most appreciated. Her room was lovely with a great view and a large en-suite bathroom. She enjoyed the food she had in the home.
Our mother spent some weeks in Hillyfield for respite care. The management has been incredibly helpful and approachable. Every effort was made to help Mum settle in and to make sure her physical, medical and emotional needs were met. She was always consulted for her preferences. All staff are friendly and kind and, in a short time, developed positive relationships with her. The home has a lovely caring atmosphere and homelike feel. It is a pleasure to spend time there. Staff ensure clients' interests are addressed and provide trips and entertainment. Safety of clients is paramount. Families are made very welcome. The manager has been very easy to contact. She has kept us informed and responded immediately to questions and requests. All staff were professional and treated Mum and the other clients with respect and thoughtfulness. I would highly recommend Hillyfield as a lovely home for people needing extra care.
Hillyfield, on the other hand, is amazing! The staff are wonderfully compassionate, welcoming and helpful. It truly feels like a home. My visits were never viewed as intrusions and my mother, though wishing she could be in her own home, acknowledges the loving and tender care she is receiving.
The staff are professional and friendly and mum is well looked after.
Having already contacted and/or visited several other care homes in the area, I knew instantly that Hillyfield was the right choice for my mother. We always found the staff to be cheerful, respectful, responsive and refreshingly candid. If you are searching for a small, independent, unpretentious, care home - where the resources go into caring - you will not find better.
The management and care staff go beyond what is required, to ensure that your Mum is settled into a new environment as it is a difficult time for her to come to terms of not being in her own home and equally a difficult time for us to have made the decision for her to have 24 hour care and care staff have been extraordinary in helping us adjust.
Mum enjoys very much the meals provided, afternoon tea and being taken out on minibus trips. There are various activities on offer each day and résidents are encouraged to participate but not forced to if they do not wish to get involved.
Communication is excellent from management and staff, and any questions we have or requests we have are carried out professionally.
The manager is a sensitive, caring and responsive person who will go that "extra mile" to make sure all will be well with Mum and us as relatives.
Hillyfield offers a homely safe environment where every individual need is met with care compassion and the dignity which everyone deserves. Family and friends are welcomed at any time, the Head of Care and Manager are always available to discuss any aspect of the resident's welfare. Residents social needs are met with regular outing and trips to local places of interest and groups in the village. Consultation with the resident is made to ensure they are getting the support they require. The team at Hillyfield want to make a difference to the residents providing them with a happy secure home in which they can thrive in later years.
Thank you for the excellent tailor made provision you have given to my friend through some tough times.
Hillyfield is an excellent home looking after my mother with the very best of care. She had two falls and then a bout of pneumonia and the staff at Hillyfield have brought her back to health by constant attention. They also keep us informed very well. Thanks!
I have always been very impressed by the level of communication between the staff. Even the smallest question I may have it always gets followed up. Each member of the team knows what has happened previously and what they are going to do next to support my mother. Over the last year, they have gone out of their way to develop an entertainment programme for the residents and this has only enhanced the level of service provided.
The team are very welcoming to visitors and I really enjoy my visits.
A caring and sensitively responsive manager and staff who provide a safe and stimulating environment. The manager goes to considerable lengths to cater for the individual and specific needs of my mother.
