What can I say? Well I have nothing but complete admiration and so much gratitude for the home, who lovingly care for both of my parents. My mother who passed away just recently, received the most wonderful, compassionate care from people who genuinely care and love what they do. Having worked in the care sector for the past 13 years, I know it's not often you find a care setting who do exactly that: Care! I appreciate them all so very much and the out pouring of love they showed in the run up to her passing was just so heartwarming. Thank you Cullum Welch Court, you are all incredible. They are highly recommended by me!

My grandparents were both residents of Cullum Walsh Court for over 15 years and honestly can't say thank you enough. My grampa had his own workshop to make wooden horses to donate to local children hospice, you will also see one around near the restaurant. Once my grandad passed a few years ago, my granny was taken care of in the Forget Me Not Unit. The staff are incredible and go above and beyond for her up until she passed just over a week ago. Even in her last few days, the care and love they had for my granny, I can't thank you enough. A special thank you to two staff members in particular who kept in contact when she was taken to hospital, after a not good experience and both fighting to help her get the care she needed in hospital (but did not receive) when she was brought back straight away, they made her comfortable and you could see straight away granny was so happy to be back with the people who cared for her. I honestly can not thank you enough!

Our mum has been at Cullum Welch Court since December 2020 after living in an apartment within the college.
Mum received the best care, was kept safe and enjoyed outings, entertainment and events during her time there.
Our mum sadly passed away last week but in the sadness, the care, love and compassion from the team was outstanding.

The team were so compassionate and supportive of all our family and felt like we shared mum's last days, with not just carers, but an extension of our family. We are forever grateful to the team on the Forget Me Not wing. From the tea ladies and kitchen staff, who came to visit her in her bed, to the nurses, care staff and managers. 9 staff members in particular and the rest of the team - we can't thank you enough for the kindness, love and compassion you all showed to mum and to us. From the cups of tea it the chats and hugs - you are all amazing! Thank you.

My gran and grandad became residents in lock down and both really enjoyed their time there. They were both well looked after, had lovely rooms, beautiful grounds and were both very happy. They were taken on lots of trips and always got involved with the activities. My granny had dementia and they took such good care of her. My gran felt safe and was always happy. Recently we lost my granny and the care towards the end was amazing. So many of them came to say goodbye and got very emotional. They were so much more than paid carers, they were so fond of her and shared some beautiful memories and funny times they had with her. Everyone had such lovely things to say. The evening she passed they brought in tea in bone china cups and saucers and later a bottle of sherry both my gran's favourite. It's the little things that go so far when you're struggling at such a hard time. They showed so much love and compassion gave us lots of hugs and genuinely we're just incredible.

Cullum Welch Court is an excellent care home. The nursing and care staff are excellent at their job. They carry out their often challenging job with great empathy. They are caring, friendly, and responsive to family requests and concerns. I have to mention the maintenance staff in Cullum Welch who do all kinds of jobs. They go out of their way to help the residents in a very kind and thoughtful way. The kitchen staff always seems prepared to make up a variation of the planned menu because of individual needs. The cleaners try and minimize the impact when they come into the resident's room to do their important job. The facilities at the home, including the beautiful grounds, are excellent.

My Mother became a permanent resident at Cullum Welch Court just over 2 years ago in February 2022, soon after she received a diagnosis of mixed dementia/Alzheimer's, rendering her unable to remain independent in her flat, where she had been extremely happy for the previous 26 years. During this period, she has in addition become increasingly unable to walk or move herself, owing to severe joint pains. Her needs are therefore complex. I'm her only son and don't live locally, but since her arrival here I've always been able to remain confident in the knowledge that she is being extremely well cared for, thanks to the wonderful support of the staff, who unfailingly treat her with kindness and compassion. The facilities in her room and the public spaces are excellent, and the standards of meals and cleanliness are extremely high. Staff contact me regularly - and I'm always grateful for updates on Mum's well-being. Our family is so thankful to the home for all its work.

My mother is well looked after with all her needs catered for. The staff are caring and give their time when they can. There are many activities to occupy their time and the food menu is reasonable.

My only major concern is the turnover of staff particularly the care home manager.

Mum has been in Cullum Welch Court for 4 years and has received the very best of care. I can honestly say I would not want her cared for anywhere else. All the nursing and care staff are excellent at the job they do, which is very reassuring and comforting for Mum's family. In my opinion, the food, facilities, and activities are second to no other care home. Also, Cullum Welch Court is set in lovely grounds and has a wonderful history.

Cullum Welch Court is amazing. The care and facilities are second to none in my opinion. The accommodation is perfect and the staff are brilliant, we live a long way away and can't visit easily, but we can rest easy knowing Mum is cared for. The amount of activities is endless and my mum is involved in lots of things.

When we do visit it's quite clear that she is well looked after.

My father moved into Cullum Welch Court when he lost his mobility, and spent 18 months there. He received much help and kindness in his adjustment and care. Staff went out of their way to support him on outings to museums. He greatly enjoyed the concerts in college, the chapel services, the exceptionally beautiful grounds and the company of other residents over meals.
Our family developed a good rapport and working relationship with senior management over clinical and medical needs, though initially it took time to build confidence. The nursing and care staff are caring, devoted, friendly and responsive to family requests and concerns.

Morden College's chaplain is very accessible and caring, and holds weekly services in the home. The sense of community is very pervasive, both in the support and companionship of other residents and the links with volunteers and visitors. The high standard of facilities and caring environment would be hard to beat.

It is an extraordinary place, so good I can only have a nit-picking grumble - no hook on the bathroom door for dressing gown!
Staff were very friendly, cleaners very thorough. I couldn't imagine anything I needed.

Many thanks.

My mother has been in Cullum Welch for nearly two years. She has dementia and from the day she began living in Cullum Welch she has been treated with the utmost dignity and despite her condition, staff value her individuality and engage her in activities. They clearly know all her idiosyncrasies and will contact us whenever Mum needs us.
Prior to lockdown, we were free to come and go, make tea, etc. A comment from a staff member - 'it is your mums home, it's your home too, you don’t need to ask to make a drink'. That was so lovely and sums up CW.

Whenever I call and say my name they know exactly who I am and can report to me immediately how Mum is doing. They do not need to look up her notes or log onto a computer and more important and most special is when Mum's oldest friend of 72 years phones and staff say ‘is that you’ - what more could you ask. We are so thankful to the brilliant staff at Cullum Welch and all at Morden College.

My mother has been a resident at Cullum Welch Court for more than two years. On the whole, the care is excellent. There are some wonderful staff and the fact that the home avoids the use of agency support means that they get to know the residents well. Most of the staff show genuine compassion and warmth. The facilities at the home - including the beautiful grounds - are first class. On the whole, the staff navigate well the difficult boundary between dignity and personal wishes on the one hand and structure and safety on the other. Occasionally my mother has felt there to be a degree of inflexibility which she has disliked - but she is a very independent character with strong views of her own. The food seems to have got better and there is a good choice but still has some way to go to ensure residents get hot, appetising fare. Completion of the new facility should help. Lastly, in the context of overall excellence, changes and gaps in the role of care home manager have been unfortunate.

Our dear mum has been a resident of Cullum Welch Court for just over five years. Throughout this time, we have always been so happy with the love and care she receives from all the staff - nurses, HCAs, cleaning and catering staff, activity staff and managers - everyone. We visit her on a regular basis and the professionalism and caring nature of the staff, cleanliness, quality of food and drink, services and activities has always been excellent. Although at this difficult time of lockdown in care homes, when we have been unable to visit Mum, understandably, staff have always maintained regular contact with us, making time to talk to us about Mum when we call, as well as making video calls to us. We are forever grateful for how our mum is so well looked after.

My sister has been a resident of Cullum Welch for the last two years. She suffers from dementia. When she became a resident, the staff were helpful and enabled my sister to settle in and she soon became comfortable and secure in her new surroundings. My sister is treated with dignity. She feels safe and secure and the staff do their best to meet my sister's needs. Since moving into Cullum Welch, my sister has been able to relax and despite her illness, she is able to gain more enjoyment from life. The facilities are very good. My sister is supported to take part in daily activities. The beautiful gardens provide a safe outdoor experience for residents and relatives, like myself, who live at a distance from Cullum Welch are able to stay overnight on the premises. Cullum Welch is well managed and are to be congratulated on their efficiency during the coronavirus lockdown. I can sleep better at night because I know my sister is well looked after and is in safe hands.

My mother has been a resident of Cullum Welch Court for over 18-months. Trying to generalise and accord a standard of service to the categories below is a blunt instrument. Eg a clear majority of staff may be superb, but the few who are not taint the score. There is also the issue of expectation. At present, during the pandemic, it is understandable that some services have been stretched. I have tried to allow for this.

Overall, I rate the home highly and my mother, a very independent person, is comfortable and has come to terms with her dependency. She has huge respect and liking for a number of the staff who are professional, compassionate and go out of their way to help her. But she is less happy with a few of the others, currently among the night staff. For some weeks she felt isolated in her room, but recently she has been taken out into the garden or conservatory. A welcome boost to her morale that she, and we, would like to become routine.

Our initial expectations have sadly not been fulfilled. Of course the overriding problem is lack of staff. The good carers are superb and my 97-year-old mother is happy consequently. But at night the staff are of a different calibre. Sometimes she feels penalised because "there are residents with greater needs". Small things make a difference: breakfast on time. Interesting activities, lectures etc and being taken out into the grounds require more staff and imagination.

Thank you for your review which of course comes at a time when we are facing unprecedented difficulties, the likes of which our country has not seen in years. As a good and responsible company, we are insisting that at the slightest hint of illness our staff take time off - on full pay. This has...

My mother was admitted to the nursing home in February 2020. While there, our mum was looked after so well. Checking on her every 2 hours and making her comfortable. Our mum used a specific brand of face product for years, and when our mum was washed and changed, they would apply this product to our mum's face. It made her look so well.
We honestly can not say enough about this nursing home. All the staff, and I mean all the staff, were very helpful, easy to talk to if you needed to talk.
One of the registered nurses, the most kindest of people and nurses you would ever wish to meet. She cared so lovingly for our mum. She would sit with our mum, stroking her face and talking to our mum, every time she was on duty.
Sadly our mum passed away, on the 2nd March 2020.

We will never forget the staff at this nursing home, this particular nurse especially. God bless you.

All staff care for my wife with dignity and are fully aware of her needs. They are helpful when asked for up to date information and fully supportive when needs are identified. The management and clinical staff have fully supported the family and wife with ongoing liaison with outside agencies and hospitals. I join in activities to assist my wife, and this is always welcomed, together with visits from grandchildren.
