We could not be happier with the care our mother is receiving at Hillside. Without exception, be it a member of the cleaning team or someone in a management role, the staff are kind, compassionate and thoughtful and always have a smile and a friendly word. Having a family member in a nursing home can
be a worrying time, but it is such a comfort for us to know that our Mum is safe and so well looked after. We would be confident to recommend Hillside to anyone.
Reply from Grainne Wokes, Home Manager at Hillside Nursing HomeThank you so much for your wonderful review. I am very pleased to hear that you have had a good experience of the Hillside team. It is always a pleasure meeting families and get to know our resident's loved ones. As always if there is anything that we can do to support you all do not hesitate to ask.

The home was chosen for my friend because it had connections with the local Methodist Church, which takes services there and she needed to attend church regularly. I have found all the staff welcoming, approachable and willing to listen to me and have kept me informed about her care and welfare. She
has been well cared for, ensuring her physical and psychological needs have been met. Overall, I have been satisfied with all aspects of the home.

You will never find a home more perfect than Hillside Nursing Home. Every staff member from the management team, cleaning, finance, admin and chef go above and beyond. I was so worried when my dad moved to a home so far from me. But I soon realised he was in the best place. If I had searched forever
I would never have found anywhere more perfect. My dad has recently passed and they were supportive, helpful, compassionate and this was all departments of the inside not just care staff. They all made a difficult time so easy to cope with. You are all amazing.
Reply from Grainne Wokes, Home Manager at Hillside Nursing HomeThank you so much for your very kind review and for all the lovely times we have spent with your and your dad. We miss seeing his beaming smile around the home as I am sure you do too. If there is anything you think we can support you with then please do not hesitate to get in touch with any of us. It was a pleasure getting to know you and the rest of your family.

I am only here for a short stay, possibly two weeks, prior to going to my home. My experiences to date have been exceptionally good with the staff so helpful and obliging. Hopefully, if my recuperation continues favourably I shall be okay to go home. However if things do not go to plan I would not hesitate
to use your wonderful facility again.

Hillside is an excellent care home. The staff are very professional, kind and caring. The food is very good, and the dining/outside sitting area is extremely pleasant.

My 89-year-old mother stayed at Hillside for 5 weeks to recover from a recent stay in hospital. She had a wonderful experience in the home due to the care and attention of the friendly and professional staff. Every one of them did their utmost to make mum's time at Hillside as happy and comfortable
as possible. It is clearly a very well-run and managed home.

All the staff at Hillside are so friendly and helpful. My mum is well cared for and happy and my brother and I are so pleased that she was able to come and live there. Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.657)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.657) out of 10 for Hillside Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 22 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.657 for Hillside Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (181 Excellents x 5) + (56 Goods x 4) + (12 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 251 Ratings = 4.657
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hillside Nursing Home is based on 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 68 registered maximum number of service users is 13.6, which has been reached with 22 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
