Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
I've always felt uncomfortable with the idea of care and nursing homes, not because I expect them to be bad, but because there are so many people requiring help or care at any one time, and after seeing how easy it is to be overlooked in hospital (where the care is excellent but the staff levels are
so low that there's only so much they can do). I was very afraid that Nan being in a nursing home would only make her unhappy and more vulnerable to the issues that meant she couldn't live alone in the first place. Rectory House has completely changed my viewpoint.
In hospital, I often left in tears, the staff were all wonderful but there was so few of them and Nan always seemed so unhappy and so at risk somehow, but now when I leave Nan's room (where she's comfortable, cheerful and has people keeping a constant friendly eye on her) I almost skip out the door, I'm so grateful, content and secure in her level of care and happiness.

Mum very happy and content. She loves the staff and the way of life. She would love to have a bath but the hoist is too painful for her. If something could be done about that we would be grateful, also more outings she loved gong to Haskins. Thank you.

My mum did not want to enter a care home but had no choice. The staff were very welcoming and encouraged us to make her room homely. They treated her with dignity and respect and took the time to get to know her and her family. I really cannot recommend Rectory House highly enough.

Very friendly and you don't have to keep to your room all day. I go to the hairdresser and have my nails painted every week. The staff are great and every afternoon there are activities which help me a lot.

At Rectory House, my mother is cared for - as opposed to simply being treated. She is respected as an individual and her likes and dislikes respected.
The home puts on many activities to interest residents and stimulate their lives which is appreciated.
I simply could not provide the level of care
that Rectory House does and appreciate their hard work and love.

The experience at Rectory House for my uncle was excellent. The care provided, the attitude of the staff, the facilities and management here have all been first class. Whenever we would visit the staff were all so friendly and looked after us (with tea and coffee). Just as well as they looked after
Uncle, I can't recommend the whole institute highly enough.

My husband came to Rectory House from hospital after a stroke. I was told it was for end of life care of about two months. He was very happy here and stayed for three birthdays and almost four. The staff were excellent and he liked them all. He was registered blind. Everything was super. The meals looked
and tasted special - I took a picture of them! My husband and I enjoyed the entertainment. It was like 'a date'. Thank you all at Rectory House.

My mother passed away peacefully on 16th December at Rectory House Nursing Home. I would like to thank your organisation, in particular, the Rectory House team. Throughout mum's stay, she was loved and exceptionally well cared for. All the staff without exception were friendly and helpful, nothing was
too much trouble. They also looked after our wellbeing as well. Mum was very happy there, neither she or ourselves had any complaints at any time. Absolutely an amazing home and well run, like one big family. Our grateful thanks to you all and wish your organisation a great future.

My mother is currently a resident at Rectory House. She is nearing the end of her life, having spent seven weeks in hospital and six years prior to this in another care home. Rectory House is exceptional and I have plenty of experience with our care providers that are not!. The manageress is always
available, helpful and jolly and very caring. All the staff are purposeful, happy and loving towards the residents and their families. The old building is warm, comfortable and exudes a relaxing aura, with beautiful outdoor areas, moreover it is safe, secure with good food. I highly recommend Rectory House.

Thank you to all at Rectory House for the professionalism, compassion, & total dedication of each & every member of the team for the care given to my father since he moved in last December. I know that Dad can be extremely difficult & I admire the patience shown by all. Rectory House has alleviated
the heartache we, his family, felt trying to find a home good enough & within our budget for Dad, & believe me, we visited many homes in our search. The Manger made the transition from a ‘less than satisfactory’ care home to Rectory House easy. Dad soon became more settled & thrived on regular meals & proper administration of medication. When it comes to care for elderly & needy, there is no ‘one size fits all’. Rectory House really do cater to every character, temperament, & palate. The atmosphere, the facilities, the accommodation & the general ambience of Rectory House is friendly & homely–it could not be more different to all the negative programmes about care homes seen on TV.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.543) out of 10 for Rectory House Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 25 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.543 for Rectory House Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (179 Excellents x 5) + (88 Goods x 4) + (22 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 289 Ratings = 4.543
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Rectory House Nursing Home is based on 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 48 registered maximum number of service users is 9.6, which has been reached with 25 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
