This is a wonderful care home. All staff are hardworking, friendly, compassionate and dedicated. My mother was very happy here, sadly she passed away. The new manager is so nice and approachable, such an asset to Charlton Grange Nursing Home. I would not hesitate to recommend this wonderful care home to everyone.

All the care staff, from the most senior to the newest recruit, are gentle, caring and competent. I have only met one member of the management team based here and she was extremely competent and efficient. I understand that there is a new management team and judging from my contact, it should prove to be a most efficiently managed home. There is a very happy atmosphere, caring staff cooperate, ably led by their seniors - it's a happy, caring community.

Very friendly and caring staff. I feel valued as a visitor and informed of my mother's needs. Sometimes I feel at the weekend that the staff are not quite as knowledgeable about my mother's condition. I do worry when the nursing carers are different. I realise this can't be helped as everyone needs to take time off and I may be totally wrong. Saying that, I wouldn't want my mother to be anywhere else, she is at the end of her life and it mist be very difficult for everyone concerned. Obviously, everyone has their favourites and I know I'm not to mention names but a few are exceptional.

Our wonderful dad was a resident at this lovely care home for the last couple of years but very sadly passed away on Boxing Day 2022 at the grand old age of 97, just short of his 98th birthday!
His time there, with Alzheimer’s, was a very confusing time for him but the love and care he received from all the staff and management was second to none, always spotlessly clean and shaven, clothes freshly laundered and hair regularly trimmed which was so important to us, as a family!
His final hours were spent quietly and calmly with his family around him, a big thank you to all at Charlton Grange Nursing Home.

Would highly recommend.

I found the care home was very good. All staff were hard-working, compassionate, approachable and cheerful, whether they were care staff, nurses, laundry staff, the handyman, management, kitchen staff or cleaners. The standard of my room and the food was excellent. I enjoyed the weekly exercise classes conducted by a physiotherapist and there was a festive function for Halloween, which I also enjoyed. I felt safe in learning to walk again in this safe environment. A senior carer did hairdressing and even dyed my hair for me. A staff member found a rollator for me, which was very helpful, as the Zimmer frame given by the hospital, was of limited use. I am able to judge this establishment as a retired nurse.

This care home is first-class. My father is staying there for palliative care.
The managers and all the staff had made my father very comfortable, happy and with all the 'end-of-life' care he needs.
The whole family are so happy that my father is being looked after by all the special staff. We could not be happier!

The managers and all staff are brilliant! Thank you!

First of all, I would like to say how all the staff are so very friendly and courteous which gives me a huge amount of pleasure and confidence. Secondly, the actual home is always so very clean and tidy. On my first visit with my wife to see and get a feel for the whole set-up, we immediately knew that this is the home we want for my father. First impression was superb.

My mother was admitted to the home following a water leak at her home in June 2021. When she arrived she was unable to walk or stand, doubly incontinent and her head and neck were twisted with her head on her chest most of the time. Despite adapting the house, carers at her home did their best, my mother would only sleep in a chair and refused to do physiotherapy or anything for herself. She was forever calling, dropping things, soiling herself and very abusive to me and my sister.

The amazing care she has received over the last year has changed life for the better. She now sleeps in her bed at night, despite her being very belligerent and abusive to staff initially, they persevered. She is doing her physio and can now stand with help and walk to her bathroom with a walker. She looks so much better and her skin colour is great, her head is almost upright. Her dementia is getting worse (mixed) as expected, physically she is the best she has been in years.

My husband has just returned home after respite care which allowed me to have a break myself. I cannot be happier about the care he has received. All the staff were very caring and attentive and he was welcomed by everyone. He made friends with other residents and joined in with various activities. He also enjoyed the food! I was given very helpful advice on his future care when home. I will certainly not hesitate for him to return again in the future. Thanks to all the staff who helped to make his stay so happy. I need not have worried.

All the staff were extremely kind, caring and thoughtful. They tried to make my mum comfortable and created a homely environment for her. Small touches like taking my mum out for an hour into the garden and dressing her in clothes were wonderful. They kept her clean and checked on her hourly through the night. The facilities were clean too.

My mother-in-law was a resident at Charlton Grange for respite care following a nasty fall at home. We were so worried about taking her to a care home because of the stigma attached to them but I can hand on heart say that the team that looked after her there were just absolutely super. They were so caring and compassionate and were so attentive to my mother’s needs. The manager was so warm and welcoming and made us feel at home straight away. During lockdown, they kept us so well informed and when we spoke to her she would tell us all the fun things they were doing from baking to bingo to yoga classes.

They provided a much needed rest for me and my family. Thank you Charlton Grange Nursing Home from the bottom of my heart! We definitely highly recommend!

Visited Mum after many months of lockdown. She looked amazing and happy. Loving the staff who went out of their way to celebrate her birthday. The care, love and attention she was given by all staff was amazing. The home is spotless and beautiful. We would fully recommend this home and staff. Thank you.

Overall Experience

My mother was a resident at Charlton Grange for over a year. They made everything so easy for me. They really looked after my mum and increased her life expectancy and quality of life over the past 12 months. I was told she would live no longer than 6 weeks and she lived so much more. My mum would tell me that the healthcare staff would always go over and beyond for her and when I visited prior to lockdown they would always welcome me and make me feel part of the family. Towards the end, I was constantly kept updated by the manager and it was a nice gesture that senior management made time to attend her funeral. I will forever be in their debt as to how they looked after my mother. Thank you all.

Mum has been a resident here since July 2020. She has settled in well and is being cared for by the dedicated dementia nursing team. Throughout the pandemic, we have been kept up to date on her progress. Visiting has now restarted, and the management team have been fully supportive. Would recommend Charlton Grange for your loved ones.
