Review of Five Oaks from Hyacinth D (Wife of Resident) published on 17 August 2026 Submitted via Website•
Overall Experience
My husband been at fives oakes care home just under 2 years.
He has setteled very well. On a few occasions he had to be away from the care home due to sickness, it is very clear on his return from his facial expression and interaction with staff, he was happy to be be back in his familiar surroundings.
My experience with care staff and management is warm and friendly, but if I need to address concerns I find them to be approachable and professional .
I feel comfortable as times passes leaving my husband in their care and thank God for the service.
Hyacinth.

Overall Experience
My Mother was welcomed to Five Oaks at short notice and appears to have settled in well. Although she is registered blind the staff try to involve her in activities. Most staff are supportive and helpful. The Home feels homely and is always clean and tidy. I can't comment on the food as I haven't visited much when it's served.
Moving to Five Oaks has been a complete change from independent living for my Mother which has been handled professionally and empathetically.

My experience overall is good. The senior staff are very good and responsive to feedbacks. There is some improvements that can be made to the service staff especially concerning meal times. I believe a little more care is needed in responding to residents who are not eating. A simpatetic attitude is needed to explore why residents are not eating.
Another matter where improvement can be made is when the imobile residents need to be transferred from wheelchairs to the settee/sofa. In many occasions there isn't carers available to do this especially after meal times.

Dad has been in care since February He is getting used to his hotel as he calls it. Gets on with the staff. Any queries or questions have always been dealt with swiftly by management
My only comment is I think more care staff are needed sometimes they struggle with needs of patients when there's not enough.

Review of Five Oaks from Andrew R (Son of Resident) published on 27 July 2026 Submitted via Website•
Overall Experience
My mother has been a resident of Five Oaks for about 18 months now. It was difficult for her at first but the care home manager took a great interest in her and did her best over this time to help her settle in. The staff are generally attentive but the problem with all care homes is that a resident can't have "on-demand" attention all of the time. It's impossible. But the great thing about Five Oaks is that there are two lounges which are next to each other and there are loads of staff there all the time. So whilst they might be busy, if you need urgent attention you can get it. (We did compare Five Oaks with another local care home that had several smaller lounges, but this meant that staff were spread more thinly across the site.). There is a choice of food but, to be honest, it's of a standard you might expect where you are doing mass catering on a budget.
Family & friends can come in at any time, without feeling that they are in the way.

Overall Experience
My mum has been in Five Oaks for around 17 months now and she's very happy there. She has a lovely room which overlooks the gardens. The staff are lovely and work so hard.I have found Rahima very friendly and helpful and she will always respond to any questions I have almost immediately. She also sends me little videos of Mum dancing which the whole family appreciate. We had concerns about Mum's weight when she arrived, but the Home has kept her on a diet and she has been losing weight which we're all very happy about. Mum has full mental capacity and finds the weekends quiet because there aren't any activities going on. However, during the week there are some very good activities particularly the singing and the dancing and Mum loves it when the little children visit. Finally, a nice touch would be when visitors have travelled from far away to come and see residents they are offered a a tea or coffee. Overall we are very happy with the care home.

Overall Experience
Five Oaks was my mum's home for over 7 years from November 2018 - March 2026. I always felt like it was my home too. She had many happy times over the years at parties, celebrations and events. The staff as a team do everything they can to keep the residents well, clean, fed, dignified, comfortable and entertained. I have to commend the current Manageress, Deputy Manageress, senior staff, all of the carers and every other member of staff for how they cared for my mum and me at the end of her life. They all went above and beyond the call of duty. My mum was handled with such tender, gentle, loving care and so was I. Their approach was personal and professional which helped to cushion my unbearable loss. I was made to feel like Five Oaks was losing two family members. A beautiful celebration of her life and antics was held at Five Oaks where I was able to thank the entire team from house keeping, the chef and his team, the kind carers to the incredible Managers for everything they do.

My father has been a resident at this care home since May 2026. We were very nervous about putting him into a home but the staff and manager/deputy manager have been so good and welcoming that we are happy that he is in safe hands.
We are so happy that he has settled in really well and that the staff are there for him and for us if we need to ask anything.

Our mother has been a resident here for four years now, and both myself and my sister are extremely happy with the care provided. We both feel very confident that mum is being treated with respect and kindness always. If there are any issues, we are listened to, and any concerns have always been dealt with. We always feel able to approach management at any time. The staff we have got to know pretty well due to her length of time here, and the fact that the same staff have been here for some time too. Well done to all of you, we appreciate you.

There was a water leak in my mum's room which caused damage to carpet. The source of the leak was located and mum was moved to a temporary room while repairs were done. The leak was located and fixed and the soiled carpet was replaced with laminate flooring. This was all done in a timely fashion and mum went back to her room. She was happy and settled during the process. We are very pleased with everything and the manner in which it was dealt with and happy to see mum back in her room.
Thank you for everything, I am truly grateful for the care and effort taken to sort this out. Ayse xx

Overall Experience
After the passing of my Aunt, I felt the need to record our positive experiences that she and her family received from Minchenden Lodge . She arrived in 2008, and died on January 25th, aged 100 years and 4 months. In the time she lived there, she received the utmost care and attention, living a relaxed, safe life of companionship and comfort. The carers always showed great patience, humour and gentleness, putting up with her moods and eccentricities. The managers kept the channels of communication open, and we were kept informed about her well being. She loved her food, and was guaranteed warm nutritious meals. When she was more able, she enjoyed the wide range of social activities organised by the coordinator including singing with enthusiasm, chair aerobics, experiences with animals, games and day trips.
Our family would like to thank all the staff at Minchenden Lodge for the best life she could have had in her twilight years. Maybe that is why she stuck around for so long.

I am very grateful to all the staff at Five Oaks for the care and compassion shown to my husband throughout his stay. It was a very hard decision to move him to a care home when I could no longer manage his needs at home. The staff made the place welcoming and feel like home for both of us. Free visits at any time were a key part of this. Whenever there was an issue I was heard with compassion and they always made an effort to solve it. They clearly cared about all their residents. I am reassured that we chose the right care home for him

The care shown by the staff and manager/deputy manager has been attentive and compassionate . My mother has Parkinson's. She has visited 4 care homes in the area for respite care and this is by far the best. I trusted that Mum was in safe hands. It feels like a family at the home. Staff always greet you with a smile. I was stuck to make a decision about whether Mum should stay long term or to take her home and care for her a little longer. The manager was really supportive in answering my questions. We will choose Five Oaks for respite and a long term space in 2026. Mum said she enjoyed it at the hotel!

Overall Experience
Placing my mum in a care home due to her progressing dementia was one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make, but Five Oaks has given me true peace of mind. The home is warm, clean, and welcoming, with spacious rooms, en-suite bathrooms, and a beautiful, well-kept garden. The staff are consistently attentive, kind, and caring. My mum has been at Five Oaks for over a month, and the level of care has been excellent. Each resident has an individual care plan that all staff can access, and whenever I visit, my mum is always clean, comfortable, and well presented. There are regular activities, outings, and events to keep residents engaged, and visiting is completely flexible - family can come anytime, and staff are always friendly and accommodating. It's also easy to get updates over the phone. Five Oaks has made an incredibly difficult situation much easier, and I'm genuinely grateful for the wonderful care my mum receives. Highly recommended.
