My brother lived here for over 2 years until, sadly, he passed away in August 2025. My brother was taken ill one morning, and the staff were so caring and supportive to my brother beyond what you would normally expect. They have always been so kind and helpful while my brother lived there for 2 1/2
years at Poplar House. They couldn't do enough for us all, especially during the sad time of his passing away. They should be recognised for their hard work and dedication.

I arrived to visit my aunt, and was greeted by staff, who gave me an update on my aunt without prompting. They told me of their efforts to bring my aunt down from her room, to include her in the activities. They invited me and auntie to a picnic in the park, which turned into a wheelchair walk with
one resident on foot. The residents were escorted across the roads to the park, before returning to have their picnic in Coopers Court Garden.
The two activity coordinators, ensuring everyone was fed and watered, and had interactions, amongst the residents and one to one interactions.
Well done activity coordinators. Well done Coopers Court.

The standard of cleaning indoors is fine except for some flies in windowsills in stair well. The temperature of the hot water has risen and was acceptable but now is rather hot. Scaffolding has been erected for a week or two but as yet not work has been done to balcony. I hope it will be started + completed
very soon as it is an eye sore and restricts our outside space.

The staff are helpful and caring and try to organise daily activities to suite the many requirements of elderly residents. Their task is not an easy one and they have to take criticism from those who don't necessarily agree with the choices made. Sanctuary do sometimes take a long time to rectify repairs
but I understand that is mainly due to costs. Overall Roman Ridge is a great place to live.

This home is not at a good standard. The staff are rarely here on the weekends and the security is lax. The meals at the restaurant are poorly priced, there is no option to have a small portion, the only option is to have the full portion at full price and this is too much food at too high a cost for
some people. The attitude of the staff is very mixed some of them are very harsh towards residents and seem indifferent to our feelings. The WiFi which they promised to have installed is still not working and yet residents are being charged. The home itself is in poor repair and repairs take a very long time. The lounge carpet was recently flooded with sewage after the drains backed up, this was a few weeks ago and the lounge is still out of bounds for this. When my mum first moved in it was fantastic but the standards have slipped massively over the past few years. If standards do not improve then my mum will look elsewhere.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mother moved into Middleton House in November 2023 and it was the best decision we could have made. She already knew one or two residents and immediately felt at home, getting to know others very quickly . Her apartment is light and spacious with a large wet room, and good sized sitting/dining
area. The staff in the office are professional as well as being extremely caring quite often going above and beyond. The restaurant has a well planned menu with the residents able to choose to have smaller portions if needed. There are many, varied activities offered for residents who want them, usually resulting in a lot of laughter. I see my mother every couple of weeks and there is always a warm welcome from from whoever is around, on the desk in the corridors or in the restaurant. The carers based at Middleton House are also warm and friendly and available if needed.

In May 2023 I developed 2 leaky heart valves and was advised to leave my Linton house and move into Nichols Court. My daughter and I were very impressed by the new manager's friendly, open-minded approach and sense of humour and by her excellent working relationship with her equally impressive deputy
manager. Together, they design and provide much appreciated activities for residents on weekdays. All residents are or have been independent minded people. After 33 years as a magistrate and 22 years as administrator of a local charity, I have found plenty of congenial company and have enjoyed comparing my experiences of both organisations. I feel lucky to be here and hope to spend the rest of my life as a resident.

My sister is living in Hillyard House for more than a Year now. I visited her at the center and lived there in the guest house to take care of my sister's cataract operation and also be a company to her for about 2 months.
I loved the place and the way they take care of the residents, the shopping
they do for them, respond to the alarm ring immediately. Arrange fun and activity days for them and more.
I am so grateful to the management and all the staff and lovely careers. Now I have peace of mind that my sister is in a good hands while I am thousands of miles away from her.
God bless the Hillyard house, the residents and staff.

A sunflower growing competition is in place. I have a blind mother who only stays on the ground floor. Originally the flowers were going outside on that floor but after planting we were told it had to go in the garden. There was no compromise on another spot on that floor and so she was unable to continue.
Every project they do needs eyes. This was the first one she could do alone and was excluded by disability. All disability should be catered for. Touch is the way my mum works. Feeling how the plant was growing. The questions asked were can't I put it somewhere she can see it? The garden is only a lift down? Blind and disabled means she can't use the buttons and risks falling on concrete. Disgusting disrespect for a resident.

We moved into Bailey Court in October 2023, and to date, have had a delightful experience. The staff are really helpful and pleasant, and we have noticed that they do their level best to address any of your or issues or concerns, and they really make you feel at home. The canteen is open to the public
and provides really good quality food in a pleasant environment which in our experience is good value for money. They have some entertainment and activities provided by staff, and these are both fun and engaging. There are also activities run by some of the residents such as Bingo, Card Bingo, and various games in the communal lounge so there are certain things to do if you want to participate in the community. The management and care teams are second to none. The accommodation is light and spacious, and our experience with the residents has been engaging and fun. Overall, it's been a really positive experience, and we look forward to spending many happy years here.

Overall Experience 1.0 out of 5
To begin with, we thought this place seemed wonderful. Our view changed fairly quickly. When my mother-in-law was diagnosed with dementia there was no positive response from the management. The carers made some effort but overall fell short in my opinion. My mother-in-law was found outside by another
resident. She was confused and wet as it had been raining. She was left by carers in her wet clothes, for around an hour. We were told that they had been annoyed as my mother-in-law was 'not supposed to go outside'. Some care staff were really lovely. As we were waiting for a more suitable place for my mother-in-law, we would take care of her finances. We were not made aware that she owed less than £40 for the restaurant until a staff member told us that the manager had said she would not be allowed to eat there unless the arrears were cleared that day. All of the problems were raised with Sanctuary and the carers. We were relieved to get her out.

St Bartholomew's Court has gone beyond the call of duty to look after my mother. And my mother did not always make it easy for them. The manager, in particular, has been absolutely fantastic and did everything in her power to help my mother - and me. Despite being incredibly busy, she always made time.
She genuinely cares about her residents, wants the best for them and is willing to put in the thought, effort and time (overtime!) to make that happen. I cannot praise her highly enough, and I am hugely grateful.

My husband and I have lived in a Sanctuary Retirement complex in Telford for 3 years. The apartments are independent. The building is lovely and always kept very clean. There is a handyman on site so I normally find repairs have been done quickly. There is a restaurant offering a main cooked meal every
day and a small light bite menu. Meals are freshly made and reasonably priced. The staff have always been great. There is a community lounge and craft room. There are two communal gardens. The apartments are beautiful and very spacious. The doors and corridors are wide so wheelchair access is easy. The bathrooms are wet rooms. There is 24/7 care staff on site so care packages are available. The care staff and manager have always been friendly and helpful. There is also a housing manager and wellbeing staff, they have always been friendly and tried to help where possible. At a very difficult time, the staff, management, and regional and Retirement Living Manager for the U.K. went above and beyond in supporting us

I visited on 26 August after travelling from Scotland. This is the first time I have seen my friend who previously lived in another care home where he was burgled 4 times. I was very impressed and relieved to find him in such a lovely facility. Everyone there was so caring and attentive, I left with
renewed confidence knowing he was safe and had such great in-house support.
Well done Sanctuary, what a great model you have.
