Review of Wimborne House - Sanctuary Supported Living from D E (Daughter of Resident) published on 26 June 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
Dear Team, at Wimborne House
Mum and I would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation for all the support you have given in helping us to plan and celebrate her BIG birthday here at Wimborne House, on 2 consecutive Saturdays recently.
Your generosity in providing the venue created the perfect setting for this very special occasion, allowing family and friends to come together comfortably and enjoy a memorable celebration.
We are also extremely grateful for the excellent catering arrangements. The quality of the food, the attention to detail, and the service provided were all outstanding and received many compliments from our guests. Your efforts ensured that everyone was well looked after and able to fully enjoy the day.
Your on-going/everyday kindness, professionalism, and commitment is outstanding.

Once again, we are deeply grateful for everything you did to make this special occasion such a wonderful & special event.

Review of Middleton House - Sanctuary Supported Living from J S (Daughter of Resident) published on 20 April 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

Our experience at Middleton House has been mixed although the overall experience is good. We have put 'satisfactory' against 'treated with dignity' because although the office staff are wonderful, care staff were on the whole poor, with little regard (from some) for the person in their care, talking about my mother as if she wasn't there. Kitchen staff are excellent, being kind, and preparing varied meals. The activities that the office staff put on, were interesting, and varied, cleanliness is very good.

My mum has been at Poplar House for 2 years now having moved from a care home locally. Its such a lovely place, alwsys kept spotless, staff are lovely, plenty going on for older people to get involved with, care staff are lovely too. Im so happy my mum is in such a caring and supportive environment. Special mention to Charlotte for which nothing is ever too much trouble.

Review of Hillyard House - Sanctuary Supported Living from P B (Friend of Resident) published on 16 January 2026 Submitted via Website

The staff are incredibly friendly and professional. I was so impressed that I wanted to recommend it to my friend's 92-year-old father. My impromptu visit was met with warm smiles, and the staff's kindness made me feel at home. The premises are clean, and the service is top-notch. Highly recommended!

Review of Poplar House - Sanctuary Supported Living from Mandy G (Sister of Resident) published on 16 October 2025 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

My brother lived here for over 2 years until, sadly, he passed away in August 2025. My brother was taken ill one morning, and the staff were so caring and supportive to my brother beyond what you would normally expect. They have always been so kind and helpful while my brother lived there for 2 1/2 years at Poplar House. They couldn't do enough for us all, especially during the sad time of his passing away. They should be recognised for their hard work and dedication.

Review of Nichols Court - Sanctuary Supported Living from I G (Resident / Service User) published on 20 August 2025 Submitted via Postal Card

The standard of cleaning indoors is fine except for some flies in windowsills in stair well. The temperature of the hot water has risen and was acceptable but now is rather hot. Scaffolding has been erected for a week or two but as yet not work has been done to balcony. I hope it will be started + completed very soon as it is an eye sore and restricts our outside space.

Review of Coopers Court - Sanctuary Supported Living from Jean J (Niece of Resident) published on 20 August 2025 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
I arrived to visit my aunt, and was greeted by staff, who gave me an update on my aunt without prompting. They told me of their efforts to bring my aunt down from her room, to include her in the activities. They invited me and auntie to a picnic in the park, which turned into a wheelchair walk with one resident on foot. The residents were escorted across the roads to the park, before returning to have their picnic in Coopers Court Garden.
The two activity coordinators, ensuring everyone was fed and watered, and had interactions, amongst the residents and one to one interactions.

Well done activity coordinators. Well done Coopers Court.

Review of Roman Ridge - Sanctuary Supported Living from B W (Resident / Service User) published on 12 August 2025 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

The staff are helpful and caring and try to organise daily activities to suite the many requirements of elderly residents. Their task is not an easy one and they have to take criticism from those who don't necessarily agree with the choices made. Sanctuary do sometimes take a long time to rectify repairs but I understand that is mainly due to costs. Overall Roman Ridge is a great place to live.

Review of Roman Ridge - Sanctuary Supported Living from V M (Son of Resident) published on 12 August 2025 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

This home is not at a good standard. The staff are rarely here on the weekends and the security is lax. The meals at the restaurant are poorly priced, there is no option to have a small portion, the only option is to have the full portion at full price and this is too much food at too high a cost for some people. The attitude of the staff is very mixed some of them are very harsh towards residents and seem indifferent to our feelings. The WiFi which they promised to have installed is still not working and yet residents are being charged. The home itself is in poor repair and repairs take a very long time. The lounge carpet was recently flooded with sewage after the drains backed up, this was a few weeks ago and the lounge is still out of bounds for this. When my mum first moved in it was fantastic but the standards have slipped massively over the past few years. If standards do not improve then my mum will look elsewhere.

Thank you for your feedback. We'd like to reassure you that Roman Ridge meets all necessary compliance standards. Roman Ridge - Sanctuary Supported Living is not a care home. It has self contained flats with an option to join in activities and use the restaurant if required. Lots of opportunities outside including Meadow Hall (10 minutes away) shows etc. You can come and go as you please with the peace of mind knowing the reception and cameras keep your property safe. A care option is available for help if needed but only to assist.

Review of Nichols Court - Sanctuary Supported Living from Diana L (Resident / Service User) published on 14 July 2025 Submitted via Postal Card

In May 2023 I developed 2 leaky heart valves and was advised to leave my Linton house and move into Nichols Court. My daughter and I were very impressed by the new manager's friendly, open-minded approach and sense of humour and by her excellent working relationship with her equally impressive deputy manager. Together, they design and provide much appreciated activities for residents on weekdays. All residents are or have been independent minded people. After 33 years as a magistrate and 22 years as administrator of a local charity, I have found plenty of congenial company and have enjoyed comparing my experiences of both organisations. I feel lucky to be here and hope to spend the rest of my life as a resident.

Review of Hillyard House - Sanctuary Supported Living from E A (Sister of Resident) published on 13 May 2025 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My sister is living in Hillyard House for more than a Year now. I visited her at the center and lived there in the guest house to take care of my sister's cataract operation and also be a company to her for about 2 months.
I loved the place and the way they take care of the residents, the shopping they do for them, respond to the alarm ring immediately. Arrange fun and activity days for them and more.
I am so grateful to the management and all the staff and lovely careers. Now I have peace of mind that my sister is in a good hands while I am thousands of miles away from her.
God bless the Hillyard house, the residents and staff.

With love and million tanks

Review of Roman Ridge - Sanctuary Supported Living from Tracy S (Daughter of Resident) published on 18 June 2024 Submitted via Website

A sunflower growing competition is in place. I have a blind mother who only stays on the ground floor. Originally the flowers were going outside on that floor but after planting we were told it had to go in the garden. There was no compromise on another spot on that floor and so she was unable to continue. Every project they do needs eyes. This was the first one she could do alone and was excluded by disability. All disability should be catered for. Touch is the way my mum works. Feeling how the plant was growing. The questions asked were can't I put it somewhere she can see it? The garden is only a lift down? Blind and disabled means she can't use the buttons and risks falling on concrete. Disgusting disrespect for a resident.

Review of Bailey Court - Sanctuary Supported Living from Anthony D (Resident / Service User) published on 28 November 2023 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

We moved into Bailey Court in October 2023, and to date, have had a delightful experience. The staff are really helpful and pleasant, and we have noticed that they do their level best to address any of your or issues or concerns, and they really make you feel at home. The canteen is open to the public and provides really good quality food in a pleasant environment which in our experience is good value for money. They have some entertainment and activities provided by staff, and these are both fun and engaging. There are also activities run by some of the residents such as Bingo, Card Bingo, and various games in the communal lounge so there are certain things to do if you want to participate in the community. The management and care teams are second to none. The accommodation is light and spacious, and our experience with the residents has been engaging and fun. Overall, it's been a really positive experience, and we look forward to spending many happy years here.

Review of Roman Ridge - Sanctuary Supported Living from P C (Son-in-law of Resident) published on 28 September 2023 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

To begin with, we thought this place seemed wonderful. Our view changed fairly quickly. When my mother-in-law was diagnosed with dementia there was no positive response from the management. The carers made some effort but overall fell short in my opinion. My mother-in-law was found outside by another resident. She was confused and wet as it had been raining. She was left by carers in her wet clothes, for around an hour. We were told that they had been annoyed as my mother-in-law was 'not supposed to go outside'. Some care staff were really lovely. As we were waiting for a more suitable place for my mother-in-law, we would take care of her finances. We were not made aware that she owed less than £40 for the restaurant until a staff member told us that the manager had said she would not be allowed to eat there unless the arrears were cleared that day. All of the problems were raised with Sanctuary and the carers. We were relieved to get her out.

Reply from Emily W, Marketing Team at Roman Ridge - Sanctuary Supported Living

We are sorry to read this review. The care at Roman Ridge is not provided by Sanctuary, but by an external agency. However, we take safeguarding very seriously and it's important that all care provided in our retirement community is to the level we'd expect. Regarding your mother-in-law being left...
