Coopers Court - Sanctuary Supported Living

from Jean J (Niece of Resident) published on 20 August 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

I arrived to visit my aunt, and was greeted by staff, who gave me an update on my aunt without prompting. They told me of their efforts to bring my aunt down from her room, to include her in the activities. They invited me and auntie to a picnic in the park, which turned into a wheelchair walk with
one resident on foot. The residents were escorted across the roads to the park, before returning to have their picnic in Coopers Court Garden.
The two activity coordinators, ensuring everyone was fed and watered, and had interactions, amongst the residents and one to one interactions.
Well done activity coordinators. Well done Coopers Court.

The standard of cleaning indoors is fine except for some flies in windowsills in stair well. The temperature of the hot water has risen and was acceptable but now is rather hot. Scaffolding has been erected for a week or two but as yet not work has been done to balcony. I hope it will be started + completed
very soon as it is an eye sore and restricts our outside space.

Roman Ridge - Sanctuary Supported Living

from B W (Resident) published on 12 August 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

The staff are helpful and caring and try to organise daily activities to suite the many requirements of elderly residents. Their task is not an easy one and they have to take criticism from those who don't necessarily agree with the choices made. Sanctuary do sometimes take a long time to rectify repairs
but I understand that is mainly due to costs. Overall Roman Ridge is a great place to live.

Reply from Ruth McAll, Senior Marketing Officer at Roman Ridge - Sanctuary Supported Living

Thank you so much for your thoughtful feedback and kind words about our team at Roman Ridge. We're delighted to hear that you appreciate the care and dedication our staff bring to supporting residents and organising daily activities that cater to a wide range of needs. We also acknowledge your comments regarding the time it can take to resolve maintenance issues. Please be assured that we actively log and chase all repairs and keep residents updated throughout the process. Occasionally, delays can occur due to external approvals or contractor availability, but we are committed to resolving issues as swiftly and efficiently as possible. Your understanding and support mean a great deal to us, and we're so pleased to hear that overall, you feel Roman Ridge is a great place to live. Thank you again for sharing your experience.

Roman Ridge - Sanctuary Supported Living

from V M (Son of Resident) published on 12 August 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 2.0 out of 5

This home is not at a good standard. The staff are rarely here on the weekends and the security is lax. The meals at the restaurant are poorly priced, there is no option to have a small portion, the only option is to have the full portion at full price and this is too much food at too high a cost for
some people. The attitude of the staff is very mixed some of them are very harsh towards residents and seem indifferent to our feelings. The WiFi which they promised to have installed is still not working and yet residents are being charged. The home itself is in poor repair and repairs take a very long time. The lounge carpet was recently flooded with sewage after the drains backed up, this was a few weeks ago and the lounge is still out of bounds for this. When my mum first moved in it was fantastic but the standards have slipped massively over the past few years. If standards do not improve then my mum will look elsewhere.

Reply from Ruth McAll, Senior Marketing Officer at Roman Ridge - Sanctuary Supported Living

Thank you for your feedback. We'd like to reassure you that Roman Ridge meets all necessary compliance standards. Security includes upgraded CCTV, a fob-access system for resident-only areas, and 24/7 care staff on-site. Residents have full independence with their own apartment keys and freedom to come and go as they wish. Our restaurant offers a variety of portion sizes and lighter options, with pricing set centrally by our Hospitality team. We acknowledge that maintenance issues can sometimes take longer than expected due to external approvals and contractor delays. Please be assured we actively log and chase all repairs, and keep residents updated throughout. We're pleased to share that new Wi-Fi is being installed at the end of this week. If you have any concerns or would like to discuss the points raised, we kindly encourage you to speak with the service manager in the first instance who is there to support you and would welcome the opportunity to help.

I have found it has changed since I came in. The staff try very hard to do things with us. Just lately we have people who have dementia who find it hard to conform. I do help them as much as I can but its difficult. I would use the restaurant but due to price I can only go in now again.

Middleton House - Sanctuary Supported Living

from Jenny S (Daughter of Resident) published on 23 July 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My mother moved into Middleton House in November 2023 and it was the best decision we could have made. She already knew one or two residents and immediately felt at home, getting to know others very quickly . Her apartment is light and spacious with a large wet room, and good sized sitting/dining
area. The staff in the office are professional as well as being extremely caring quite often going above and beyond. The restaurant has a well planned menu with the residents able to choose to have smaller portions if needed. There are many, varied activities offered for residents who want them, usually resulting in a lot of laughter. I see my mother every couple of weeks and there is always a warm welcome from from whoever is around, on the desk in the corridors or in the restaurant. The carers based at Middleton House are also warm and friendly and available if needed.

In May 2023 I developed 2 leaky heart valves and was advised to leave my Linton house and move into Nichols Court. My daughter and I were very impressed by the new manager's friendly, open-minded approach and sense of humour and by her excellent working relationship with her equally impressive deputy
manager. Together, they design and provide much appreciated activities for residents on weekdays. All residents are or have been independent minded people. After 33 years as a magistrate and 22 years as administrator of a local charity, I have found plenty of congenial company and have enjoyed comparing my experiences of both organisations. I feel lucky to be here and hope to spend the rest of my life as a resident.

Hillyard House - Sanctuary Supported Living

from E A (Sister of Resident) published on 13 May 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My sister is living in Hillyard House for more than a Year now. I visited her at the center and lived there in the guest house to take care of my sister's cataract operation and also be a company to her for about 2 months.
I loved the place and the way they take care of the residents, the shopping
they do for them, respond to the alarm ring immediately. Arrange fun and activity days for them and more.
I am so grateful to the management and all the staff and lovely careers. Now I have peace of mind that my sister is in a good hands while I am thousands of miles away from her.
God bless the Hillyard house, the residents and staff.
With love and million tanks

Roman Ridge - Sanctuary Supported Living

from Tracy S (Daughter of Resident) published on 18 June 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 3.0 out of 5

A sunflower growing competition is in place. I have a blind mother who only stays on the ground floor. Originally the flowers were going outside on that floor but after planting we were told it had to go in the garden. There was no compromise on another spot on that floor and so she was unable to continue.
Every project they do needs eyes. This was the first one she could do alone and was excluded by disability. All disability should be catered for. Touch is the way my mum works. Feeling how the plant was growing. The questions asked were can't I put it somewhere she can see it? The garden is only a lift down? Blind and disabled means she can't use the buttons and risks falling on concrete. Disgusting disrespect for a resident.

Reply from KW, Marketing Officer at Roman Ridge - Sanctuary Supported Living

Thanks for taking the time to share your concerns with us. We strive to create an inclusive environment for all our residents at Roman Ridge. We apologise that in this instance, the arrangements may not have met your expectations. In response to your concerns, we understand that the garden may not be easily accessible for your mother due to her visual impairment and we're more than willing to help accompany her to the garden whenever she'd like to check on her sunflower. We're exploring alternative accessible locations for the sunflower pot, and if you'd like to assess them, please contact the Retirement Communities Manager directly. We take your feedback seriously and are committed to resolving this issue to your satisfaction. We respect all our residents and we appreciate your feedback as it helps us understand different perspectives and improve our services. Bailey Court - Sanctuary Supported Living

from Anthony D (Resident) published on 28 November 2023
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

We moved into Bailey Court in October 2023, and to date, have had a delightful experience. The staff are really helpful and pleasant, and we have noticed that they do their level best to address any of your or issues or concerns, and they really make you feel at home. The canteen is open to the public
and provides really good quality food in a pleasant environment which in our experience is good value for money. They have some entertainment and activities provided by staff, and these are both fun and engaging. There are also activities run by some of the residents such as Bingo, Card Bingo, and various games in the communal lounge so there are certain things to do if you want to participate in the community. The management and care teams are second to none. The accommodation is light and spacious, and our experience with the residents has been engaging and fun. Overall, it's been a really positive experience, and we look forward to spending many happy years here.

Roman Ridge - Sanctuary Supported Living

from P C (Son-in-law of Resident) published on 28 September 2023
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 1.0 out of 5

To begin with, we thought this place seemed wonderful. Our view changed fairly quickly. When my mother-in-law was diagnosed with dementia there was no positive response from the management. The carers made some effort but overall fell short in my opinion. My mother-in-law was found outside by another
resident. She was confused and wet as it had been raining. She was left by carers in her wet clothes, for around an hour. We were told that they had been annoyed as my mother-in-law was 'not supposed to go outside'. Some care staff were really lovely. As we were waiting for a more suitable place for my mother-in-law, we would take care of her finances. We were not made aware that she owed less than £40 for the restaurant until a staff member told us that the manager had said she would not be allowed to eat there unless the arrears were cleared that day. All of the problems were raised with Sanctuary and the carers. We were relieved to get her out.

Reply from Emily W, Marketing Team at Roman Ridge - Sanctuary Supported Living

We are sorry to read this review. The care at Roman Ridge is not provided by Sanctuary, but by an external agency. However, we take safeguarding very seriously and it's important that all care provided in our retirement community is to the level we'd expect. Regarding your mother-in-law being left in wet clothes, we’re sorry to hear about this and our local team are looking into it with the care provider, as this was not raised with Sanctuary staff. Any other issues raised were dealt with by our management team at the time, and we were not aware of any additional or outstanding issues at the time of move-out. We hope that your mother-in-law is well and settled in her new home.

St Bartholomew's Court - Sanctuary Supported Living

from J R (Daughter of Resident) published on 13 January 2023

St Bartholomew's Court has gone beyond the call of duty to look after my mother. And my mother did not always make it easy for them. The manager, in particular, has been absolutely fantastic and did everything in her power to help my mother - and me. Despite being incredibly busy, she always made time.
She genuinely cares about her residents, wants the best for them and is willing to put in the thought, effort and time (overtime!) to make that happen. I cannot praise her highly enough, and I am hugely grateful.

Rose Manor - Sanctuary Supported Living

from Jacqueline C (Resident) published on 26 September 2022

My husband and I have lived in a Sanctuary Retirement complex in Telford for 3 years. The apartments are independent. The building is lovely and always kept very clean. There is a handyman on site so I normally find repairs have been done quickly. There is a restaurant offering a main cooked meal every
day and a small light bite menu. Meals are freshly made and reasonably priced. The staff have always been great. There is a community lounge and craft room. There are two communal gardens. The apartments are beautiful and very spacious. The doors and corridors are wide so wheelchair access is easy. The bathrooms are wet rooms. There is 24/7 care staff on site so care packages are available. The care staff and manager have always been friendly and helpful. There is also a housing manager and wellbeing staff, they have always been friendly and tried to help where possible. At a very difficult time, the staff, management, and regional and Retirement Living Manager for the U.K. went above and beyond in supporting us

Poplar House - Sanctuary Supported Living

from Les B (Friend of Resident) published on 16 September 2021

I visited on 26 August after travelling from Scotland. This is the first time I have seen my friend who previously lived in another care home where he was burgled 4 times. I was very impressed and relieved to find him in such a lovely facility. Everyone there was so caring and attentive, I left with
renewed confidence knowing he was safe and had such great in-house support.
Well done Sanctuary, what a great model you have.

Many thanks,

Greenwich Gardens - Sanctuary Supported Living

Very limited and slow responses to issues in my flat.
Complaints made to local management that has been ongoing for some time now.
Complaints put in and often take forever to deal with.
A poorly aligned patio door has supposedly been dealt with several visits, but is still binding against the rubber
seal at the top.
The living room door handle mechanism that was supposedly dealt with some weeks ago, whereby I was unable to get into the living room and now is inoperative.
Ongoing issues with dust mites in the living room, whereby I am constantly sneezing.
A pest control guy came around approximately nearly three months ago and put three green boxes in the living room. No explanation as to what purpose these served and are still in the living room waiting to be collected by the pest control guy.
Still having fits of allergy sneezing!!
I am constantly having to vacuum ongoing in the front room every day and the dust container gets filled every day of the week. Other issues as well.

Review of

Coopers Court - Sanctuary Supported Living

from G P (Daughter of Resident) published on 14 April 2021
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My mother is in her 80’s and disabled and has been in Coopers Court for over a year. The home has two elements, the care side who deals with the care of residents and the housing management side. The managers of both teams are exceptional. The managers and their teams do everything they can to help
and provide support. Openly approachable, extremely professional and always have time to listen and help any way they can. They go over and beyond duty and get things done which is very reassuring in a very friendly, open and welcoming environment. Covid has made circumstances very difficult but the priority is always the safety of residents and staff and there is much reassurance in this. The residents are all a really lovely bunch of people, easy to get along with, friendly, kind and made my mother and the family feel welcome from day one along with all the staff there. The culture of Coopers Court is professional, very friendly and reassuring.
