Richmond Heights Care Home

My mother passed away recently in this home, after only a few months residing there.
The carers are amazing and tended to my mother with compassion and dedication.
Sadly the nurses gave very sub optimal palliative care. We, as a family experienced their lack of understanding of the use of pre-emptive
medication. There were occasions these were refused or delayed. Once a syringe driver was set up, nurses repeatedly advised us pre-emptives weren't necessary!
All this contributed to my mother having a prolonged and traumatic end of life.
All I asked was that the care home have more palliative care training, this has been refused, they have not recognised their failings in my mothers care.
Rest in peace now mum.
Reply from Jayne Humphrey, Manager at Richmond Heights Care Home

We are very saddened to see this review. I would like to reassure you that your mother passed peacefully with a family member present. The nursing team worked very closely with St Luke's and the GP surgery to ensure your mother received the appropriate treatment and care.

I can't thank the staff here enough for the way they care for my uncle they all go above and beyond for him and nothing is to much trouble. It really is brilliant that we can leave and know he is being cared for by such wonderful people. Makes a sad situation a little bit easier to cope with.

For the 4 years we have had our loved one in Ladyfield we have always been very impressed with the standards of care in every respect and area that she, and we have received. We cannot fault any aspect of the delivery of care and would highly recommend this home to anyone. Indeed we have had friends
use this home due to our comments.

Mum has been in Ladyfield house for four years before her death. The care she has experienced is exceptional. The environment is a family atmosphere. All the carers my mum has had have always gone above and beyond. The communication has been excellent and I have always been contacted if mum was unwell.
We have recommended the home to friends who have also placed relatives there.

Ladyfield House is an outstanding care Home which is efficiently run. It is like Home from Home. I am so relieved they had a room for my husband there.
The kind and caring staff provide tireless care, are dedicated and compassionate and nothing is too much trouble. The Home is spotlessly clean but
comfortable and the homemade food is varied and tasty. I have no hesitation in recommending this excellent Care Provider

My father was admitted to Broadacres from hospital as emergency respite care. We have been looking at other homes to move him to permanently, but made the decision to keep him at Broadacres. He has settled well. The staff are always cheerful and welcoming and my father is always clean and tidy, and
properly dressed. Communication is excellent. Telephones are always answered and queries (when made) are responded to.

Mum has been here for over 8 years now which she wouldn't have been had we not been so happy. The carers go above and beyond for Mum. They are all absolute diamonds. There really is nowhere I'd rather her be. Peace of mind, good care and a happy mum. Thank you Broadacres Care Home.

We have recently moved our mother from another care home and decided on Broadacres Care Home. I am so truly glad that we did because, believe me when I say this, the care attention and genuine love given are bringing her back to her old self. The one we thought we'd never get back. She's finally thriving
with the correct motivation given.
We are finally at ease knowing that she is receiving the care she thoroughly deserves. We have our lovely mum back.
Thank you, from myself and the family for everything you have done and are continuing to do. The care team, the management, all of you deserve recognition. Nothing is too much trouble. You all have very big hearts.

The home provides great care for my elderly mother. The only small negatives are clothes are being misplaced/lost even though name and room number are wrote on them. The warm food supplied upstairs could do with being hotter as this is cold after mum gets halfway through the meal. It would definitely
be 5 stars if this was addressed.

We find the carers attentive and caring.
The food has been very good and the room very clean.
One problem is other residents going into my mother's room which disturbs her, on one occasion she was sat on her toilet.
We do understand that it is a care home with patients with dementia.
When we take
our mother out the carers know to lock the door which does help.
Reply from Ken Henderson, Home Manager at Parkside Care Home

Thank you for your review, we were made aware of this and it was a new resident who had got disorientated and hopefully, this has been resolved.
