Vale Care Centre's strength is its winning team which I call the 'Angels of Mercy.' Dedicated and passionate team players with a vocational calling. It's reassuring that my Sister is in such capable and caring hands. From recognising requirements by placing her in a bigger room appropriate for her
needs and understanding her as a person.

As a family, we are incredibly grateful to the nurse, the support she gives my family member and us is both professional and endearing. She's an asset to the home and company.
Unfortunately, I cannot give 5 stars as I cannot say the same about all staff.
The ladies in the office are welcoming, supportive
and informative and the activities coordinator always wears a smile.
Far too often, when we visit several members of staff are sat in the dining area either on the floor or round the table, whilst residents' buzzers are on red. I'd spoken to the previous manager and it seems standards have not improved.
We do hope with a new manager coming into the home, job roles and expectations will be revisited and the staff that do work hard, are thanked. It would be a shame to lose the valued team members.
Please feel free to get in touch. My family member is very poorly and deserves the very best nursing and care.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We truly appreciate your kind words about our nurse, the office team, and our activities coordinator. It's heartening to know that their professionalism, warmth, and dedication have made a positive impact on your family's experience. We will ensure your appreciation is passed on to them-they are indeed valued members of our team.We are equally grateful for your honesty regarding the areas where you feel improvement is needed. Your observations about staff attentiveness and response times are deeply concerning, and we take them very seriously. With the arrival of our new manager, we are actively reviewing roles, responsibilities, and expectations to ensure that every team member is aligned with our values and commitment to excellence. Your family member's wellbeing is our utmost priority

Our mum was 100 in March and staff went above and beyond to make her day very special they decorated her room and the corridor with banners photos and balloons. All the residents sent her cards and all staff did to. The chef made her a beautiful cake. They made a post it board which all staff, relatives,
and residents all wrote on a fantastic idea. Even staff who were not at work came in to see her. Mum has been in Larches nearly 6 years now and her care is fantastic. Everywhere is always clean. She's always so well looked after. Our family would like to thank all staff for the care they give our mum. Great management team to.

Visited my father who is very demented, the building is clean and doesn't smell. The staff are all polite, personable and helpful. They have always presented in this way. My father's bedroom is clean, he was cleanly dressed. Our visit was not announced. The carers were totally appropriate in their interactions
with my father and myself.

Reply from Sirajali Panjwani, Director at The Vale Care Home

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback following your unannounced visit. We're truly pleased to hear that you found the environment clean and welcoming, and that our team demonstrated kindness, professionalism, and care in their interactions with both your father and yourself. Maintaining a consistently high standard of cleanliness, dignity, and person-centred support is at the heart of what we do, and your kind words are greatly appreciated by the entire team.

name any individuals because all of the staff are so caring and wonderful, from management, laundry, nurses, carers, cleaners, entertainment, catering and maintenance, thank you all, you are so special. High regards.

We as a family have found the care home very welcoming, nothing is too much trouble, our mum has made friends, and been able to feel part of a family. The only negatives I have are the home really needs upgrading it's very tired looking, also displaying menus they're not always on display personally
I think picture menus are a fantastic idea especially for dementia residents. The manager is lovely and comes and chats quite often which I find nice.

Reply from Angela Mason, Manager at The Vale Care Home

Thank you for you feedback, we are currently working to improve the home 's dcor etc, we have an improvement plan in place. our menu's are on the board upstairs with a typed version and had written daily on the white board and downstairs is the same, we have picture menu's already in place, we put pictures on the white board upstairs of the food for that day for our dementia unit. we have already had significant improvements made to the home over the past year and will continue to do so

Currently my dad resides at the vale. He needs full care as his body no longer functions due to his Parkinson's and other Parkinson related illnesses. However, he is sound of mind, enjoys being grumpy, says what he thinks and quite stubborn at times too! But the staff understand that, don't take
offence and actually take the time to talk him round! They bend over backwards trying to make his meals varied despite his strict soft food diet and the chef even sits and goes through menus with him.

They have regular entertainment and activities, celebrations and events. This week he had his birthday and they spoilt him with a tea party, full decorations and food. It was wonderful.

His room has been freshly decorated and is always clean, the home is always warm and never seems to have a smell (which others can do) nothings too much trouble.

I would definitely recommend and we're so pleased he went on respite there as they gave him the care that made the transition to full care easier

My mam is happy and safe which is priceless to me. She is a bit fed up of the sausages for lunch but they are ok if really well cooked. Her room is clean and tidy, we are still waiting for a second call button in her room. The staff are really caring and friendly and cannot do enough for her. The manager
is friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and very approachable.

Reply from Angela Mason, Manager at The Vale Care Home

Thank you very much for taking the time to complete a review of our home; your loved one is always involved in choosing what they would like to eat, we also hold residents meeting with the kitchen staff to review the food and make suggestions of what they would like to see on the menu, we have plenty of choices. The call bell has been ordered and will be fitted ASAP. Please feel free to speak with me for an update as you know my door is always open.

I have dealt with The Cedars through having both my father and two aunties as residents. I found being a purpose-built home in an excellent central position, easy for visitors to get to was an excellent choice. The staff were brilliant, senior management and admin were very efficient, the entertainment
team provided many activities for residents while the care staff were both friendly and caring. In my opinion the best care home in the area.

Mum has had excellent care despite having alzheimers and being challenging at times. Staff are caring and compassionate from admin domiciliary carers nurses and managers. Her carer particularly has gone above and beyond to make mum comfortable and her family feel welcome and included. The rooms are
comfortable and clean and the food is excellent.

Aside from my mum's medical and health conditions it is a pleasure to come and visit my mum. The Cedars and Larches Care Home staff are always friendly and helpful and are always present. The home is clean and tidy. My mum's health conditions sometime mean she is not settled but she is always well dressed
and clean. I never leave the home fearing for my mum's safety.

I can’t praise all the staff enough management, senior care, all carers, nursing, entertainment staff, cleaners, maintenance, and chefs all. There isn’t a time I haven’t arrived and been greeted with a smile and kind words for me as well as Dad. He is happy and well cared for and definitely fed well,
my dad has never been a big mixer but there isn’t a time when he isn’t involved now crafts (not his favourite) but ball games, singing, gardening, dancing and the main thing he always has a smile. Thank you all.

I just want to say what a wonderful home-from-home you provided for my friend and how you helped her husband by feeding him to make sure he was looked after when he visited every day.
The home even set up a little celebration for them when I asked if I could bring a cake in for their sixty-ninth wedding
anniversary.
Such care was greatly appreciated. Thank you for going the extra mile. Unfortunately, they didn't make their seventieth.
On a final note, the home was always spotless no smells, which to me told me everything. The staff are always friendly especially one staff member in particular, who I seemed to see often. Thank you to the entertainment staff too.
With my grateful thanks for looking after my friends, who I have known since I was a little girl nearly eighty years ago. God Bless you all.

My mother is residing at The Cedars and Larches Care Home. The level of care, facilities and attention to residents are very good. However, the care assistants spend too long completing care manuals all through the day, and I feel that time could be spent attending to residents. Although expensive to
initiate, I am sure some sort of computer system could be more beneficial to the carers, residents and care home management.

Reply from Katie Barnett, Marketing Executive at The Cedars and Larches Care Home

Thank you for your feedback and for your kind comments about our home. We take comments seriously and always welcome feedback. We have been digitising our activity reporting and are delighted that a significant amount of time has been saved, meaning the team can spend more quality time with residents doing things such as virtual tours to faraway places, armchair exercises, looking at local history, arts and crafts as well as competitive quizzes and games that residents love. As ever, our home manager has an open-door policy and would be happy to discuss this further with you. Thank you again.
