My Mother was a resident at this lovely care home for five and a half years where during that time she was cared for with outstandingly professional care, love and dignity.
I have only praise and thanks to all the very kind staff and owners where nothing was ever too much trouble.
They, who attended
to my Mother 24/7 and made her time there so comfortable. Thanks to you all.

Abbotswood lodge is a great care facility. The staffing ratio versus residents is excellent. This enables more 1x1 time for residents. I have observed outstanding care for both my mum and many other residents in the 4 years I have been visiting. The kindness and attention that was given to my mum
has been ouststanding - the owners should be commended, they work tirelessly to ensure that all needs are met but more importantly they show a genuine kindness and understanding. In my opinion they run the home for the residents and the families and not profit. My mum was hospitalised and the owner spent the whole day with mum and myself at the hospital, ensuring my mum was handled with dignity and care. In my opinion Abbotswood Lodge is the best home my mum could have had during her final years. I recommend this home from experience and I thank the owners.
From the bottom of my heart for taking such good care of my mum in difficult circumstances

My cousin was admitted to Abbottswood Lodge two years ago suffering with Dementia and double incontinence. She was very confused and aggressive. Staff understood her condition and calmed her down. She has been very well looked after by people who speak to her in the way she has been used to. She is
in a very safe environment, well nourished by 'home' cooking, and understood mentally. She really enjoys the singing group where she knows all the lyrics of songs from over 50 years ago.
I cannot speak highly enough of the management and staff.
Thank you so much for looking after my cousin's difficult condition.

My Mother needed care to rebuild her confidence after 10 days in hospital, before hopefully returning home. We were very lucky to find Abbottswood Lodge home had a lovely en-suite room available. The Managers and all the staff were wonderful, caring and helpful. Mum was still in pain on release from
hospital, and the medication she was discharged with, was given to her by the staff, gradually reducing it as she got better. Mum was soon eating the meals which were freshly cooked and enjoyable, (Mum can be fussy). Her confidence returned within days with the help friendliness and support of all the staff. They encouraged and helped her regain confidence in walking. The Manager even arranges for a Hairdresser to visit each week. We were made very welcome during our visits to Mum.

Mum stayed for two weeks convalescence and was very happy there. She is now back home and looking after herself again with some help.

She would be very happy to return to the home in the future if the need arose.

I cannot thank the Managers and all the staff enough.
Thank you.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.621)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.621) out of 10 for Abbottswood Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.721 for Abbottswood Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (78 Excellents x 5) + (25 Goods x 4) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 104 Ratings = 4.721
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Abbottswood Lodge is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 13 registered maximum number of service users is 2.6, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
