Nothing is too much trouble in looking after my Mother. She likes the staff and is well fed. They treat her with dignity.

My brother is well looked after - his caregivers are kind - his meals are good and balanced.
He is stubborn but I think he is happy with his lot.

What can I do? I live in the USA and get over twice a year.

Décor needs updating, noticeable smells, could be cleaner (room). Agency staff poor quality.

The manager and her main staff are of a high standard and very caring, which is our main reason for choosing this home and staying there.

Although not 100% suitable for our requirements, the management goes out of their way to rectify this position. A very good relationship exists with both management of working staff senior or otherwise.

Chestnut Court is homely and loving. I came May 2016 this is my day 290. The carers are kind and cheerful and the staff are helpful and pleasant and flit themselves about to give any necessary assistance.

Always a joy to park up and ring the bell with a smile knowing staff are very welcoming and friendly. Mum is always in good hands which makes me calm and very relaxed. When I am hugging Mum, the staff are busy making residents feel wanted and loved which is a real joy to watch. The staff are always smiling and talk actively to me and other relatives of residents. A very warm, happy, professional atmosphere. Very pleased.

Overall Experience

My husband was a long-term resident at Chestnut Court Rest Home for over 5 years. During this time, he was given devoted care by the staff who also extended this care to our family. He and we were always treated with dignity and respect. The personal care was always good and the food is really nice and plentiful. My sister (an ex-RGN) said she found it hard to fault the end-of-life care given at the period before his passing. The staff were so kind to us. I would recommend Chestnut Court Rest Home to anyone.

We are really pleased you agreed to take my brother as he was very difficult and his behaviours were off the wall to begin with. He then developed terminal cancer and you are continuing to provide care and treatment. We see also the staff going to any lengths to look after him respectfully as he deserves. We are very aware of what the outcome will be for my brother but we can at least feel safe and rest assured that his care is being provided with all aspects/needs of treatment covered by staff that really do care fro him. We thank you for everything that everyone has and is doing for him.

Review from April H (Resident / Service User) published on 3 May 2016 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

As a resident for nearly two years at Chestnut Court I can only say how well my needs have been met. The staff are caring and considerate and undergo very stringent training in all round care work, resulting in everyone being treated as a person, not a number. There are good choices regarding food and choice as to whether a resident wishes to stay in their room. The new uniforms enable residents and visitors to identify staff more readily, especially the seniors.

Overall Experience

After viewing several residential care homes in Hampshire, Chestnut Court ticked all the right boxers for me. On viewing day staff were very friendly and welcoming. We toured the ground floor, 2 bedrooms, light and airy, large windows overlooking garden. Large lounge and dining area, and what a surprise on the first floor, a lounge and dining area for those who reside there. Also good a lift, not a stair lift. Bedroom en suites very large and suitably furnished. Whilst discussing prices we were served tea and biscuits. The garden consisting of trees and shrubs and flower beds all pleasing to the eye. Result a very real rest home.
