My mother-in-law has now been in Seabrook Manor for 5 years. I feel I have got to know the care home fairly well. I am my family visit every week on different days and times. She is always showered and well dressed, her room is always clean and tidy. The staff are friendly, kind and welcoming. I have
never had a reason to complain. During Covid-19 I have phoned every week and the manager keeps me informed she takes the time to listen and answer all of my questions and I never feel rushed. The meals look appetising. I don't worry about my mother-in-law I know she is in good hands.

All the staff at this care home are friendly and very helpful, the home itself is very nice and clean.
The staff do everything they can to ensure the residents are looked after as best as possible. Both my Mum and Dad were very happy there until their deaths.
I was most grateful that they were being
looked after very well in the last years of their lives.
Many thanks, Seabrooke Manor Care Home, especially the staff in Norman House.

I’ve always found that the home has been very welcoming, the standard of care is excellent. The cleanliness is excellent. My relative is very well looked after, the staff are all excellent. My relative has been at the home for 11 years and I couldn’t have asked for better care for him in this time.

Sadly we are writing this review retrospectively with regard to our father's stay at Seabrooke Manor Care Home. He was a resident from February 2019 until 9th April 2020 when he reached his 99th birthday.
Dad came directly from hospital to the home and during the time spent there the care and support
he received was second to none /outstanding. He was treated with the utmost dignity and respect at all times by every one of the wonderful caring and dedicated staff.
Our Dad saw the staff as an extension of his own family and because of the open door arrangement, it provided all of us a wonderful opportunity to visit whenever we wanted.
We cannot express in words our gratitude to all of you at Seabrooke and we will never forget you and what you did for him and us.

Mum was a dementia resident for 7 years until she passed away on 15th March in the care of the staff in Saxon House. We feel happy that she was well looked after and treated with dignity until the end.

I have found the staff to be extremely helpful. I recently attended hospital with my mother and would like to compliment the care staff who attended my mother until I arrived they were very kind and caring. I would also like to inform you the hospital nurse complimented on how clean my mother was when
changing her, she said a lot of patients come in smelly.
Down to good care standards.

My Aunt has resided in this home for 4 years and during this time I have seen many changes in the home and staff. I am pleased to see a big improvement across the board with new management. Regular relative meetings much needed to keep everyone informed. I am happy with the care given to my aunt.

Generally satisfied, however, issues related to laundry and wearing his own clothes has become a problem.
Reply from Clare Sheehan, Careline Advisor at Seabrooke Manor Care Home

Thank you for your feedback. Following our meeting, we immediately looked into your uncle's missing items which were found in a suitcase in the storeroom, due to there being too many clothes in his room. This was discussed with the housekeeping and care teams. I am glad that your uncle is now able to wear all his clothes, especially his jumpers, and I hope you feel reassured that staff will continue to support him.

Following the initial period of my mother settling into the home, I have been pleased to see her becoming calmer and more able to accept the changes in her life. This I have been able to communicate to family members. She is treated kindly and with respect and listened to when she has a point of view.
It
would be good if the remote to the television could be found or replaced.

Staff very friendly a helpful. The environment is very clean. Staff have been responsive to my father's needs, respecting that he likes his own space and allowing him to have meals in his room. We are able to visit anytime and there are always staff available to answer our questions. My father enjoys
the meals and they have good snacks between meals.

Flu jab form - Not available.
Toenails - Desperately need cutting.
Clothes - for the second time in three weeks there were no clean knickers or nighties. Wheelchair - other residents using mum's own wheelchair.
Staff - Lack of staff around.
Communication between Seabrooke and ourselves is poor

One member of staff has enabled my mother to receive excellent nursing care during her four years in the nursing home. She has been very sensitive to my mother's needs and instructed the staff in the best ways to manage my mother's challenging behaviour.
During my mother's last days, she ensured that
the doctor was called at just the right times and my mother passed away very peacefully in her care.

My mother, who is Hindu and Asian, was reluctant to take respite due to ill health but despite no other residents being of her background, she has found herself feeling well looked after. Even though she does not speak English and communication is difficult, the staff are very good with her and manage
to engage with her. Thank you to all the staff at Seabrook Manor.

Current Review Score: 7.8 (7.769)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.8 (7.769) out of 10 for Seabrooke Manor Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 1 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.0 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.727 for Seabrooke Manor Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (9 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 11 Ratings = 4.727
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.042 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Seabrooke Manor Care Home is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 120 registered maximum number of service users is 24. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 24 = 0.042
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
