My first experience of seeing a care home. The first thing I noticed was how clean and tidy it was. I am very impressed by all the staff from the manager to the domestic staff as they always welcome you with a friendly smile and are always very pleasant. The nursing team are very approachable and listen
to any concerns I may have. I cannot praise the carers enough as they go above their duties and are always pleasant and always greet me with a smile and hello. They genuinely do care. I class them as friends. The chefs and catering staff do a great job and always say hello. The entertainment coordinator is very good and the residents and visitors love his chats.

As the wife of a resident, I am filling in this form as he is a patient at the care home of just over 8 weeks.
He cannot write anything, he has vascular dementia thus I made a decision to put him into full-time care.
The care home is very suitable for him, he's well looked after, kept clean and comfortable.
The carers are all very pleasant and caring, in fact, everyone who works there, in my opinion, are the A-Team for my husband's illness. Nothing is too much trouble.

I am very contented. The staff are very friendly and we have a laugh together. They are all different but they are all lovely in their own way. When I'm not well they are very loving and caring to me. I've bought a lot of things to the home, which has really made my room a 'home from home' and the staff
are all interested in my photographs. Two of the staff helped the family to create my own little garden outside my door. Although the staff have to do things I thought would be embarrassing, they do it in a way that I don't feel embarrassed at all.

I cannot praise Moorlands highly enough. My dad was in their nursing care for a couple of months before he passed away. He was happy, comfortable and extremely well looked after. The staff were wonderful and kept me updated on how he was at all times. Without mentioning names, 3 members of staff, in
particular, were compassionate and so caring to me and my husband after my father's death. I know he was so well looked after and spent his last weeks of life in a happy, caring environment.

My husband is being nursed to the highest standard. Not only that but he is treated very kindly and handled in a gentle and caring way. He is nursed in bed and has no pressure sores, also his mouth care is good. He has dementia and physical ill health and is unable to do anything for himself. Since
he moved to Moorlands he is less aggressive and disruptive. I feel extremely reassured that everyone working at Moorlands has his best interest at heart.

He may not be long for this world but it is as good as a hospice in my opinion. He has been here for 3 months now and I am able to sleep at night because the home has my complete trust.

We moved my mother from a nursing home in Bracknell as Moorlands was recommended to us.
The people that recommended this home to us were right. This home is superb in every way.
Attentive, patient, nothing is too much trouble.
Management and staff are always around to talk or help.

My father has advanced Parkinson's and has been in Moorlands Care Home with Nursing since December 2016. Dad's changing health issues have been dealt with in a professional and caring manner by the nurses and the manager. Dad's room is clean and homely, the communal areas are clean and bright. The food
is very good and dad enjoys his meals. The staff encourage dad to join in with the activities but there is no pressure to participate. Moorlands Care Home with Nursing has a really nice friendly atmosphere. I feel very happy my dad is being cared for by good nurses and carers. Moorlands Care Home with Nursing has a very good manager who is compassionate and approachable.

My father has been here for seven years and is now entering end of life care. I can't fault the staff for all their support and are care and professionalism in dealing with this situation from the house keeping staff, medical staff and management. too.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.100)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.100) out of 10 for Moorlands Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.3 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.324 for Moorlands Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (60 Excellents x 5) + (25 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) + (3 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 102 Ratings = 4.324
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.776 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Moorlands Nursing Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 41 registered maximum number of service users is 8.2. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.2 = 0.976
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
