We brought our mum to Moorlands for a 2 week respite. After 1 week Mum didn't want to go home so have extended her stay with the potential of long term. The staff are amazing, friendly, caring and extremely helpful. They love Mum and she adores all the staff, hence why she doesn't want to go home.
I
rate the home extremely high and were so lucky to find the place and lucky they had availability.

Moorlands is a safe and caring home for my mother who transferred from another care home due to her increased nursing needs. In the 4 months since being at Moorlands, she settled well despite her advancing Alzheimers. The staff and management are excellent and are friendly and always available to answer
any questions. They do their utmost to provide the best care possible. The activities provided are sensitively tailored to my mother's needs and capabilities - pet therapy, nail care etc. Moorlands feels like a family home and I am very pleased my mother has settled as well as she has, given her dementia.

The caring staff who come in to clean and give food are very friendly. Her room is clean, although the floor next to the bed could be swept more often. Nanna is cleaned and always has fresh clothing on. The room is airy with windows and doors open, a fan could be great in hot weather. Nanna likes the
cakes and her lunches, although at times they could be slightly hotter. Carers are always friendly and when they have a chat with my nan, it makes her day. It is great for her to have carers who are friendly. Thank you. Having a phone would have helped her feel less isolated and being able to speak to family would have made a big difference.

Thank you for your review and positive comments regarding our home and staff who work hard to deliver high standards of quality care at all times. We are so pleased that your nanna enjoys her meals and in particular the cakes on offer. Your feedback will be passed on to the team.

My friend resides at Moorlands Nursing Home and I have to say that he is the happiest I have seen him in years. The staff are extremely caring and they go out of their way to make him feel special, as well as other residents. The food is great and looks delicious. The manager is very approachable and
welcoming, as is the entire team. I am happy my friend is here and is taken care of very well. I couldn't ask for anything more.

My aunt has been in Moorlands for over a year now and is happy there. She doesn’t like to leave her room and doesn’t participate in the activities so the activities staff go to her to read a weekly email and to paint her nails, which she enjoys. All the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Review based on the last six months. My brother-in-law is a vulnerable single person who has never lived on his own but always in a family environment and the family were concerned when he needed to go to a care home. We need not have worried as Moorlands rapidly became his ‘home’. All the staff are
regarded as friends and are trusted by him. The family are kept in close contact and advised immediately if there is an issue. Visitors are given a warm welcome at the front door and all protocols are observed. Any questions are answered openly and honestly. The level of care is high and all his needs are met with patience and warmth. The family wholeheartedly recommends Moorlands.

The last 18 months have been a difficult time to be in care or to have a relative in care. Despite these challenges, Moorlands has provided care and support with great sensitivity. It is evident that my relative is treated with dignity and compassion at all times and, as a consequence, they are comfortable
with all of the staff at the home.

So far, after only three weeks - very caring of my husband.
He seems happy. They seem to look after him well, I am only here two hours a day.
I have given ratings, but as I said, it's only been three weeks, so don't really know yet.

I cannot speak highly enough of Moorlands. My mother has been a resident for 3 years and during that time, she has been shown nothing but dignity and respect. The staff work extremely hard - nothing is too much trouble. The manager holds and "open door" policy and can be approached at any time. Relatives
and friends are always welcomed with a smile and can visit at any time. I am so very pleased we chose Moorlands for my mother. We couldn't find anywhere better.

My sister has been a resident at Moorlands for nearly four years. Unfortunately, she can no longer talk, walk or communicate in any way, is double incontinent and confined to a bed or wheelchair. It would be inconceivable to leave anyone in her condition anywhere other than a home like Moorlands. All
residents are treated like family members with exceptional care and dignity and the home is managed very well. I am very grateful to all the staff for the care they provide.

This is a care home that does its best to create almost a 2nd home for both residents and their visiting families. The atmosphere is welcoming and jovial. Ever one of the staff does their utmost to make the care and well being of the people they look after a priority, which is exactly how it should
be. The manager is always looking for ways to improve on the already high standards accomplished.

I have nursed my 91 year old wife for about 7 years. Having survived four cancer operations a broken femur she experienced numerous fall and hospital visits. She was diagnosed with vascular dementia and on her last hospital visit received "Do not Resuscitate" document (29/5//16). Having experienced
two respite and two residential homes we are both more relaxed now than ever before.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.100)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.100) out of 10 for Moorlands Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.3 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.324 for Moorlands Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (60 Excellents x 5) + (25 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) + (3 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 102 Ratings = 4.324
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.776 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Moorlands Nursing Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 41 registered maximum number of service users is 8.2. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.2 = 0.976
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
