The care my father-in-law receives is wonderful. The staff go out of their way to ensure he remains stimulated and safe. There is a weekly programme of events with something to suit everyone.
We cannot thank the home enough.

Dad took a while to settle in when he first arrived. We were kept informed of Dad's condition and made aware of any incidents (such as falls) and the deterioration swiftly. The staff were kind and respectful when he passed away.

This was the second home my mother was in, and without a doubt, the best of the two.
Whilst it did not have the facilities, the first home had a coffee bar, hairdresser etc,
it was care and cleanliness, which is the most important thing. My cousin said when he visited, it was the first home he had been in that did not smell of urine or disinfectant.
There was always plenty of staff around when I visited, my mother was always clean and tidy, and the staff were very kind to my mother, who walked around the home all day and myself.
Whilst it did not have the facilities, the first home had a coffee bar, hairdresser etc,
it was care and cleanliness, which is the most important thing. My cousin said when he visited, it was the first home he had been in that did not smell of urine or disinfectant.

Overall Experience
My mother has been a resident at Old Wall Cottage for about three years, whilst very poorly, the home and care have been excellent, providing 24-hour care to her. She had a lovely room fit for purpose and all the facilities for her needs. The carers were lovely and catered for all her needs with care and dignity for a 94-year-old with dementia, and towards the end, sadly, bed bound. The home is set in lovely gardens in a stunning countryside area with plenty of parking and is catered for any visits promptly. Unfortunately, my mother became a resident at the start of the Coronavirus, so I could not see her for some time, but they provided all the strict measures required that were needed during these difficult times. They provide many activities for the residents, albeit my mother was perhaps not able to participate. Food appeared adequate. I can thoroughly recommend the home and the staff to anyone facing this decision.

Mum was placed in Old Wall Cottage Nursing Home almost a year ago, after being hospitalised and a couple of months of unsuccessful therapy aimed at getting her back on her feet and has improved greatly in that time.
She arrived underweight, in a confused state, and newly confined to a wheelchair.
She is now back to her old self due to the treatment she receives.
From my initial meeting with the manager and ongoing contact with all staff, I have been impressed with their friendliness, interest and dedication to the residents.
Many residents have dementia, and Mum does not, but all are treated with the same kindness, respect and good nature.

She is now back to her old self due to the treatment she receives.

We didn't choose Old Wall Cottage but feel fortunate that Mum landed in the care of such a terrific bunch.

Management and staff treat my friend with the utmost care and respect.
On my weekly visit yesterday there was an entertainer in one of the lounges. I was allowed to sit with my friend instead of the usual visit in her room.
It was such an enjoyable hour. The entertainer had a good rapport with the residents and involved them in his choice of song. Many of the residents joined in the singing or were just tapping along to the music. This was encouraged by the staff who were also singing and dancing along.

Old Wall is an exceptional care home. The staff are warm, extremely friendly and highly diplomatic in all the difficult situations they face. My father entered the home following a severe stroke and we could not be happier with the kindness and consideration they gave him. Despite his immobility, they found a special chair so he could be taken outside during the summer. They showed incredible love and attention as his situation became more complex including advice and help with all the administration and assessment of grants. They equally accommodated visits at any time as our situation became more serious and nothing seemed to phase them. From making sure they played him music he liked to always having had a good conversation with him. In the last weeks we were clearly advised with chats with the nurses and managers and when the end came one of their superb carers had sat with my dad throughout the night. It is outstanding.

From the moment my brother-in-law moved into the nursing home, the welcome and care he has received has made the transition of leaving his home seem seamless.
Staff are very kind, caring and considerate, they go out of their way to ensure every need is catered for and we have no worries at all. He has settled in wonderfully and seems very happy.

My husband was moved into Old Wall Cottage Nursing Home in June this year. He has Alzheimer's and other health issues.
After being moved five times in the previous 12 months due to health issues and Covid he arrived in a highly agitated state.
His challenging behaviour was initially problematic to the home. However, they persevered with medication changes and settling him down and he is now very much improved.
I always find him shaved and in a clean and tidy state. The home is homely and clean and the staff are very caring and professional.

This home has a real family feel about it and the excellent care provided.
The team at Old Wall Cottage Nursing Home were incredibly supportive during the very stressful and emotional time moving Mum into nursing care.
Since her arrival at Old Wall Cottage Nursing Home, Mum has put on weight as she enjoys the food and also gets the help she sometimes needs at mealtimes.

The environment at Old Wall Cottage Nursing Home is excellent. There are plenty of seating areas, as well as lots of outdoor space for residents to go out into. My dad's room is kept clean and tidy, and nothing is ever too much trouble. The staff and management are very committed and have looked after my dad exceptionally well. I can’t thank them enough.

My experience with Old Wall Nursing Home has been nothing but positive. The staff are incredibly kind, welcoming and supportive and more than happy to answer any questions I have and provide me with regular updates. My father was transferred from another nursing home who were unable to meet his needs and asked us to move him with no notice. I cannot praise Old Wall Cottage highly enough. It was a difficult time and sadly Dad went downhill very quickly and died several weeks later. The manager went out of his way to make sure that Dad was welcomed and settled in. The individual staff were kind and caring and treated Dad with respect. We were kept up to date and encouraged to raise any queries or concerns. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was bright and airy and clean. The food was good. Overall an excellent experience.

My mum, now aged 85, came to live at Old Wall Cottage in September 2020 on a trial basis after a spell in hospital. Her home living arrangements had become very difficult and her health had deteriorated very badly. Since moving in she has never looked back and I have nothing but praise for the standards of care he receives. From wonderful fresh, home-cooked food for every meal, beautifully kept grounds and interiors, and most all an amazing team of friendly, caring and very professional staff. My Mum is happy, clean, well-fed and very content, she tells us constantly how much she likes it there. Well done Old Wall Cottage, you have got it right. When I am old and unable to care for myself I want to live somewhere as good as this, please.

When my Mum's previous care home refused to have her back after a hospital stay (a fall resulting in broken ribs, arm and black eyes!) and a positive asymptomatic Covid test, we were very apprehensive about her being sent to Old Wall Cottage as we had no say in the choice. Well, it has turned out to be the best thing ever for Mum. The manager and staff are the kindest people and treat Mum with respect and so much kindness. I couldn't be happier with the care she's receiving.

Overall Experience
Moving my mother from residential care to nursing care was difficult, particularly at this time but from day one I could see that it was the right decision. The Old Wall Cottage felt like a home and mum was treated with care and dignity during the short period when she lived at the home. The staff were supportive to me and mum and I would not hesitate in recommending this home. Also, I only chose 'Good' since the home is being refurbished and I did not see all the activities.
