Bay Court is proud to provide excellent care from a qualified Nursing team who are on site 24/7 supported by experienced healthcare assistants in a family style homely environment. Bay Court has 29 residents rooms. These are a mix of modern garden rooms with patio doors to the accessible garden, grand bay windowed rooms and cosy Victorian rooms all with character as individual as the residents.

The head cook and team take pleasure in providing traditional home cooked meals and delicious baking, taking into account dietary requirements and individual tastes. Relatives and friends are most welcome to join their loved ones for meals as well as celebration parties throughout the year. Come and meet the team and see for yourself!

Bay Court has an excellent activities team with regular visitors from the local churches, singers, harpist, pianist, exercise classes, crafting, regular crossword contests to name but a few. Residents, relatives and team alike enjoy the regular parties held in the garden and lounge area. Bay Court is in an excellent location on West Hill being flat walking distance to the sea front, cafes and shops. Residents are supported to get out and enjoy all Budleigh has to offer including theatre, craft and literary festival visits.

Bay Court has a regular hairdresser, nail technician and chiropodist who visit regularly.

I cannot express enough, the amount of care that was given to my father recently. The Bay Court team were extremely caring of his needs before he passed away. They would sit and comfort him when the family were not there. He loved to talk about his past, and the staff would often pop in and make a point
of having a chat with him. They have been an emotional support for the family as well as my father. He was at ease, and myself and my siblings take great comfort from that.

My 82-year-old Father came e to reside at BayCourt at the end of April 2025. Sadly he was with a terminal illness and only managed a few weeks before passing away. The staff were so patient and the care he received ,during those last few weeks, was amazing. The kindness and support from all the people
who engaged with my Father , was impeccable . The last conversation I had with him , he told me he felt safe and cared for by the staff. My family and I are most grateful for BayCourts level of care and kindness , towards both my Father and all of the family . It was such a relief for my siblings and I to know he felt safe and knowing the support was there for those last days was so important to us. A big thank you to all the members of BayCourts team. I highly recommend BayCourts to anyone thinking of care for a loved one.

My husband spent his last few weeks in Bay Court Residential & Nursing Home.
He really didn't want to go into a home and couldn't understand why he couldn't be at home.
With patience, respect and understanding, he came to realise that every member of staff was "fantastic". His words of which he had
very few in the end.

My 86-year-old father came to live with you directly from the hospital. He was very poorly and weak when he arrived. We felt that Dad was treated with so much dignity, care and patience at all times. All staff went out of their way to make us feel very welcome and afforded us the time to ask questions
about Dad’s condition and ongoing treatment. We were particularly impressed with how the staff would always talk to Dad upon entering his room, even when he slept, and explain to him what they were about to do to him.
When he was conscious he would often have conversations with the staff and none of them tried to hurry him up - they showed great interest in everything he told them. The staff were of great emotional support to the family at some very intense moments and reacted very quickly to ease Dad’s increasing pain every time it was required. In addition, your catering staff were very accommodating, both for my Mum, who spends every mealtime with Dad, and also for me and my siblings.

The whole staff worked well together and information was shared quickly.
Any contact with the staff was a pleasant experience.

My 90-year-old aunt is a recent resident of Bay Court Residential & Nursing Home. I visited her quite a few times and she always has wonderful words to say about the carers and management of the residential home. No inch is spared in ensuring that my aunt is comfortable and happy. My aunt went into
Bay Court directly from hospital and when she was in very poor health. I had met her when she was in hospital a month before she was admitted into Bay Court. My aunt was very weak and frail and unsure about herself. She was not the strong woman I remembered. The next I met her was in Bay Court. The difference in her health and overall mental state was so very noticeable. Aunty was eating better, sounded so much more positive in her outlook, looked safe and secure and very happy where she was. This was despite her reservations of giving up her own home and moving into a residential home. This says a lot about the care and love that she receives at Bay Court. Thank you management and carers of Bay Court Residential Home.

Bay Court was the home of my friend for just over a year, he passed away in June 2023.
My partner and I only saw my friend a few times and yet whilst my partner and I were there we were very impressed. We only met a few of the staff and the staff wore their uniforms including badges with their names
on.
We also liked and appreciated my friend could bring items from his former home to Bay Court as well as have photos of his family and my partner and I to make his room homely. The last time I spoke to my friend was on his birthday and a few days before he passed away. In turn, the staff team took a photo of my friend and in turn they emailed it to me, as little did anyone know my friend was going to pass away a few days later.
Bay Court seems to be a good place and not only a place people call home but also a place of work where people or visitors can share experiences, knowledge, expertise, opinion and be heard, welcomed, and valued.

Dad has been here for just a few weeks. He settled in quickly and seems to be very happy. When we chatted about the home his only complaint was there was too much food! The food is so good Dad needs bigger trousers! Dad finds communication hard as he is profoundly deaf but people take time to write
him notes and include him in everything that's going on. Staff will give him a game of chess when time allows which is good brain stimulation. I am able to relax knowing Dad is safe and happy.

Bay Court Residential & Nursing Home has been an excellent choice for my father-in-law. Always made very welcome when I visit my sister; I could not ask for any more. My mother spent her last 7 months in Bay Court Residential & Nursing Home and received excellent care. On arrival, she was not expected to last long but through careful management, constant support and demonstrable involvement she enjoyed her last days in a friendly and comfortable setting. The staff
were always attentive, cheerful and interested. My mother had a second, or perhaps third or fourth, wind while there and this made the last days dignified and peaceful. We visited very regularly, during difficult lockdown rules, and were always impressed with the diligence and professionalism of the team. Thank you for making it more bearable than it could have been.

My mum was transferred from the hospital to Bay Court for respite care, and our family was so happy with the care that she has been able to remain there. Her bedroom is bright and well-decorated, and the home is meticulously clean and well kept. The manager runs a very well organised and staffed home
with a calm and happy atmosphere. We are happy that Covid's safety precautions are still very much adhered to. Staff are all caring and patient with my mum.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.674)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.674) out of 10 for Bay Court Residential & Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.874 for Bay Court Residential & Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (77 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 87 Ratings = 4.874
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bay Court Residential & Nursing Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 29 registered maximum number of service users is 5.8, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
