Furze Hill House

The care staff are always changing, so there is no continuation of care. Agency staff are not as familiar with the residents of the care home or their needs as the regular staff are. The facilities are good and kept to high standard of cleanliness. I feel more effort could be put in to sitting or engaging
with the less interactive residents.
Reply from Jodie Hemmings, Home Manager at Furze Hill HouseThank you for your review. We take your views and comments very seriously and will use this to look at the areas that you feel could be improved. I can inform you that regarding staffing, We are currently recruiting for staff, our core team has remained stable. We need to use Agency staff to fill in where required so that care delivery is not affected, we block book agency staff to ensure a continuity of care.
Pease do feel that you can raise / bring to our attention any concerns at the times of your visits.

Our family are very happy with the welcome we and my mum have had at Furze Hill. It is an amazing community, and my mum soon settled into a lovely routine and a wonderful life, happy, smiling, friendly, and active, things that previously had been absent from her daily life. The staff are to be praised,
highly thanked for everything they do for each resident, kind, attentive, interested, listening ear, fun, and so much more we could say. Highly recommend Furze Hill.

Furze Hill is modern and provides a warm, friendly atmosphere. The foyer, day room and especially the individual rooms are spacious. I am amazed by the amount of personal furniture and belongings my step mum has been able to have with her. Her room really is a home from home.

Lyndon Residential Home

from Nick B (Son of Resident) published on 5 December 2025
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My father was a full-time Lyndon resident from 18/9/23 until 28/6/25 (when he passed).
Prior to that he was in temporary (two or more weeks at a time), and then part-time (three days a week) respite at the home.
Dad suffered from dementia (reaching the final stages of that in 2025), and breast cancer
(the key reason he was taken from us).

Throughout dad's stay, the family were very impressed with Lyndon Home across all categories.
I'm being genuine, and not exaggerating, when I say that everything about the Home was excellent.
But it was the quality of the staff at Lyndon, and the care they provided dad (and the other residents) that was particularly exceptional.
They took wonderful care of my lovely dad. They were kind, friendly, warm, attentive and respectful people who went above and beyond. We could not fault them. Couldn't have asked for more.
Thank you so much to all of the lovely people at Lyndon Home who made my dad's final days as bright and comfortable as was possible.

Staff and volunteers very good, go the extra mile. Clean and friendly home. Nothing is too much trouble, you can always see the manager without any fuss, the door is always open and welcoming - the food is very good and a good choice to choose from.
Its very sad to have to put a loved one into care,
but you can visit when you like, no problems. Well done all who work here and a big thank you.

Furze Hill is a wonderful care home, and my mum is happy there. The staff are kind and friendly and always welcoming. When we visit, Mum always looks well cared for, and her room is always clean. There are plenty of activities for the residents to join in, which Mum enjoys, especially the singing.
I
can highly recommend Furze Hill House.

Dad has been at Furze Hill House since July 2024. During his time there, his care needs have increased. The staff are well aware of his needs, and an ideal care plan has been put in place. His dementia means that most of the time he isn't aware of much, but he is able to walk using a frame and is able
to communicate with staff. Overall, we are happy with the care Dad receives. Keep up the good work!!

It is such a relief that my mother is a resident of Furze Hill House. The level of care and the quality of the accommodation and facilities is second to none.
I appreciate that my mother can be difficult, disruptive and a challenge. However all the staff go beyond and above to make her as comfortable,
safe and happy as possible.
The rooms are all kept clean, tidy and lovely and warm. Blankets are always available for anyone who feels the cold.
Hot and cold drinks are always available with biscuits and cake mornings and afternoons.
The Cameo club is a great hit with my mother too. The staff take time to walk residents over so they can enjoy a lunch and entertainment in a different location.
I would say Furze Hill is the best home my mother has been too, because the emphasis is on making it as much like home as they can.

Furze Hill House

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mother has been a resident at Furze Hill House for a few years, and as she suffers from dementia it is vital that I am certain she is happy and well cared for. Even thought mum no longer knows who any of her children are, it is still very evident that she is happy. Mum is a wanderer and continually
walks around the care home, including on occasions walking in to the office turning around and walking out again, but she is never chastised for doing so by the staff. It is just a really lovely environment for a lady who is fast approaching her 93rd birthday to live out what time she has left. Mum has been a member of The Salvation Army for 50 years, and being in a Salvation Army care home has been great for her wellbeing. While mum has little speach left , she will still tap her foot when she hears a band or songster brigade, the music is still a great stimulation. All in all, I can't fault the care she receives, which is greatly appreciated by the family.
Reply from Jodie Hemmings, Home Manager at Furze Hill HouseThank you for your very kind and welcome review of the home Ian. It's lovely to visit our mum at Furze Hill, she is always well looked after, dressed lovely and clean and her room is always clean and tidy with the bed always made. The staff are very friendly, not just to mum but to the family and friends too. The care home is always warm and welcoming, the entertainment
and fayres are great, mum loves the food, and theres cups of hot and cold drinks available on asking. I wouldn't want our mum to be anywhere else.

We sadly lost my father very unexpectedly and my mother has been adrift since his passing.
She was struggling with coping with basic day to day necessities, like shopping and cooking.
She first came to Youell Court in May for some respite care and we have been so happy with how well they have looked
after her. She has been there ever since and has received exemplary care and is doing so well.
I couldn't be happier with the team and the manager. They are excellent and I would throughly recommend Youell Court.

My father suffers from Vascular Dementia and as a result has no capacity for meaningful conversation or thought process.
From day one the care team have made it their business to encourage him to speak and integrate by gentle coercion. I can't speak highly enough of the staff at Holt House in Prestwich.
He
has thrived in his 12 months there and as it happens in transferring him to be nearer to me on 26th June 2025. I know it will be a sad day for everyone at this wonderful care home.

My aunt resisted moving into residential care as she feared the loss of privacy and independence. In fact she lost neither, with the privacy of her own room and freedom to participate in social activities and dining, and leave the home to join family occasions. She was secure, cared and catered for
and also clearly loved by the staff. After just a few weeks she regretted not having moved in much, much earlier. It is a comfort to our family that she ended her days as a happy and contented resident.

When entering Furze Hill, I am always welcomed, and when necessary, a staff member will tell me if any clothing my brother requires. The day I visited it was my brother's birthday and a cake was made to celebrate. We sat in the communal area, talking about the day. I saw a member of staff talking with
other residents and helping with puzzles. During this visit we were offered tea and coffee with biscuits. My brother is known by many staff members.
