Options The Old Vicarage

from Gabrielle W (Mother of Resident) published on 14 May 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Our son has lived at the vicarage for three years now and we as parents continue to be grateful for the excellent care and support provided by the manager and her team. The staff are always approachable, kind and compassionate and have gone the extra mile on numerous occasions in caring for our son.
The care home has a warm and homely feel , and well maintained to a high standard. My son enjoys participating in the many planned activities at the vicarage. He especially enjoys cooking with staff for other residents. We are so grateful that our son is so well looked after and secure in the knowledge that the manager and her staff have always got his best interests at heart. This is apparent to us as our son has settled well and is happy living at the old vicarage.

My wife's son was here for 15-plus years at the beginning of the year he was diagnosed with bowel cancer and in the last couple of months things took a turn for the worst and we laid him to rest on the 3rd of September 2024. All the staff were so good and he was so well looked after it was unbelievable
the way they not only helped him but the amount of support that they gave us the Manager is so supportive to all the list of staff is so long but we can not sing their praises enough.

My son has autism communication and learning disability and ever since he has been here at Epwell Road he has come out of his shell. This is due to the manager and all the members of staff, the place is well run clean and friendly and as for caring for my son they are consummate professionals well worth
the money.

Recently have had my relative moved to this care home. Home is clean and homelike, residents are well cared for and always clean. The rooms are absolutely beautiful and done to the taste of the individual. Both residents and staff seem happy to be there. Residents are taken out on days out frequently
and I know my relative seems to have settled in here very quickly.
Staff keep me informed and involve me in choices made for my relative with pictures and updates. The manager is fantastic and very helpful.

It is very nice. It is pleasant and comfortable.
The rooms are nice, and the garden is big, and there is a lot of space.
The staff are kind and help me with things like cooking.
I do like the activities but do not always want to take part in them.
It should be an expert to rate the safety and
security. I have given five stars because we have night staff, locks and CCTV. Staff used to sleep in and tell me off when I wanted to get a late delivery, but now we have waking nights, so that does not happen now.

My nephew has been a resident for the past year. Our family is very close, and we all wanted somewhere where we felt my nephew's needs would be met. I can’t express enough how amazing The Old Vicarage has been to date. The management and staff go above and beyond in so many ways. As heartbroken as we
were to make this decision to begin residential care, we feel great comfort in knowing my nephew has the best care possible. If you want a place where it’s like a home from home and has a family feel, ‘The Old Vicarage’ is the place to choose. Thank you to all the team for their outstanding care!

I am happy here. I enjoy being at The Old Vicarage; I find it comforting. The staff and management are better than what it was before; I feel like they care, and they are supportive and helpful.
I like my room, I feel that this is my safe space, and the staff respect this.
I like my fellow residents,
I like their company, and I feel that we all fit well living together; it is a nice group of people, and we all get along.

My daughter has been at The Old Vicarage since September 2021.
I'm so pleased she is there.
The staff are all amazing and genuinely care.
They treat my daughter like a human being; she is listened to and respected, but boundaries are set when necessary.
It's always a pleasure to visit her because
she is thriving, and she always has stories to tell about her days at the home and at college.
We couldn't wish for a better placement.

My brother is well looked after since the most recent management has taken place. The manager is excellent and brought great improvements in the care of my brother, and always kept us up to date about his care plan and if there are any important updates and events. I and my mum have been really pleased
with her; she gave us a really good impression in comparison to what we had in the past.
The team leader is an amazing key worker who has been providing superb care for my brother; she has been looking after his health and has been excellent in all aspects of his care. We are really happy with her, and she is a great credit to Options The Old Vicarage,
We are very thankful for the services of Options The Old Vicarage and its staff. I highly recommend this place.

Very pleased to see my nephew well looked after. We did not had the opportunity to see him before because of restrictions but the current management have allowed us to see him on a regular basis. They asked us when we can visit him and work with us. This has been a great experience to see my nephew
whenever we want to. They share his care plan and involve us with all his care and decision-making, they are very professional and kind. I would recommend 100% anyone to this service.
We visited him last week while the weather was really hot, we found him in the garden enjoying picnic with others. Staff were very kind and caring, the whole home was cool and fresh. It was breathtaking.

My brother has been a resident in this home for twenty years and the staff have always been very caring. Under the management of the new Manager, the home has gone through a cycle of improvement which has benefited both the residents and staff. There is a great vibe in this special place and if you
are going through the agonising decision of where to place your much loved relative I can't recommend it enough. A massive thanks to all the great staff my brother and I will miss you.

Best service, staff are friendly kind and caring. My brother is well looked after. Given the pandemic period they have been in touch. Of course management who are currently managing the home are very proactive. Call us to update the well-being of my brother. His key worker is very kind, caring and goes

Charmanden Road

from Caroline B (Mother of Resident) published on 7 October 2021
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My daughter was moved to the home as her last placement was not suitable or safe, she was not in a very good way, this all happened during Covid. The staff have been wonderful taking care of her daily needs whilst getting to know her, encouraging her to eat, drink and make choices and developing her
confidence. She is like a new person now, very happy, eats, drinks goes out, now going to staff for a cuddle or for any needs she may have. The staff also supported us as a family when we had little trust because of what had happened in the past home. The home is small, friendly and inviting, everyone is treated as an individual, rooms are decorated to each individuals choice. We are grateful to all the staff for all the effort they have put into making my daughter feel safe and of value, for giving her a life of choices and fun-filled days. Thank you all at Charmandean Road Care Home.

Cherrycroft

from Lawrence M (Brother of Resident) published on 4 December 2020
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Cherrycroft is a wonderful place for my brother to live. The home is welcoming, well-designed, and light and airy.
My brother has severe epilepsy and LD.
The manager runs a tight shift - her staff are efficient but also take the time to really get to know the residents as individuals. Their record-keeping
and medication training is superb. Inevitable mistakes that occur from time to time are addressed and the focus is on continuous improvement. She and the staff listen to the needs of residents and the concerns of relatives.
My brother has lived at Cherrycroft for a number of years now and is very happy.
The home has been especially supportive during these difficult Covid lockdown months.

Winchester House

from Cathy G (Mother of Resident) published on 12 August 2020
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Although I have highlighted March 2020, this has been ongoing since then ( Covid 19). My son has in my opinion been in the safest hands possible. The reason I am bringing this to your attention today is due to receiving - delivered to my door! - the most fantastic present any parent would wish to receive;
my son is severely autistic and one of his Senior care workers, complied a beautiful album of photographs, lovely off the cuff remarks, poetry and the things that memories are made of for me on my birthday. This was, as you will be aware, really poignant, as I haven't seen my son since March 21st. I would like to personally thank all of you for your complete dedication and in particular the senior care worker for just knowing what a mum wants ... You are all brilliant!

We are extremely proud of our dedicated staff who continue to seek new and creative ways to ensure that the people we support continue to be engaged and maintain their family connection which is so important particularly during these unprecedented times.

They are not professionals, always changing staff. The residents, lots of times, were left on their own, the staff were always in the garden smoking not looking after the residents. In 17 years they have changed 14 managers - is very badly run. Now a new company has taken over, hope it will get better.
