Maycroft

from Katherine P (Sister of Resident) published on 13 June 2025

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My sister has been a resident for 20 years. Since her placement, I have seen her thrive and her behaviour and mood have improved beyond measure. Maycroft is a small home with a big family feel, and a stable staff group who go above and beyond to put the resident's needs first and foremost. Staff work
really hard to encourage and support residents to participate in activities of daily living as much as they can. They encourage each resident to exercise as much choice making and be as independent as possible. The home is well led with a great framework of support. Staff take residents out into the community everyday and are always looking for new ideas to try, with families being invited to join in as much as possible. Residents have many activities organised for them based on individual needs and abilities.Maycroft is a wonderfully happy home where my sister is VERY settled and happy and is her forever home. I'm very grateful to all the staff and I cannot recommend Maycroft enough

Review of

Evergreen

from L D (Brother-in-law of Resident) published on 11 December 2023

Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
My sister-in-law was taken to hospital after the staff had expressed concerns over her medical condition and her lower than usual body temperature. It was diagnosed in the hospital as cold sepsis and treatment was given accordingly. The staff from Evergreen visited her on a daily basis whilst she was
in hospital and their input to the hospital staff was vital in establishing her normal medical parameters as her body temperature is generally a little lower than what is considered normal. The hospital staff were then able to adjust the treatment to ensure that she eventually became well enough to go home to Evergreen.
I was kept fully informed by the staff at Evergreen of the situation with my sister-in-law and the treatment she was getting. In my view it was the prompt recognition and action by the staff which avoided a potentially dangerous situation for her.

Merstone House

Since I came here in October 2018 this place has helped me grow so much. However I have to say since this pandemic started, other than the masks, the care we have all received has not changed whatsoever, which I think in a setting such as this and the types of mental health problems people suffer within
the homes, it is extremely important to not have that much of a change as it creates instability.
I do think, however, the fact they are coming to work they are putting their own health and wellbeing on the line and as such, they should be compensated in some way. I know of many places that due to the risks involved they have been given a temporary pay increase or a bonus, so why not here, this is arguably a hugely profitable company considering the amount it costs per week. So I personally think the staff should be heavily rewarded in some way, it's all about appreciating the ones that keep this bus ticking over, which, I don't think is too much of an out-there idea do you?
