My brother joined the Cumbrae House 'family' fairly recently and it is so reassuring to see him receiving such great compassionate, person centered care. I have found the team at Cumbrae House very approachable, knowledgeable, highly motivated and dedicated. They work as a cohesive unit and regularly go above and beyond to help and support both my brother and myself in any way they can. Nothing has ever been too much bother for them. The environment is clean, well maintained, homely, welcoming and has a happy vibe to it. Overall, in my opinion, Cumbrae House is a credit to all who work so tirelessly to make this home such a great success.
thank you very much for the contribution to our community- your feedback is appreciated and i will share this with the team. it really is testament to the work the team put in each and everyday. Karen
The staff was amazing and looked after my mum they would do a lot to keep my mum happy. Just thanks to all the staff.
Thank you very much for your kind words. We wish the family all the very best for the future and it was a honour to look after your Mum.
I want to write this review so that people are aware that Oakview Manor, for my mother, who was a resident, myself and my daughter was about as bad an experience as you could get. I have rated it one star because of the upset and distress caused. My mother died in Oakview and the treatment during the last two weeks was horrific, including senior staff trying to administer morphine by mouth, when for nearly 2 days my mother was nil by mouth and had a cannula in her leg for administering morphine. This type of thing is repeated when it comes to personal care, administration of medicine, fluid intake, personal hygiene and dignity. After I complained to the Care Inspectorate and the home, a team of senior people were installed and I have been made aware that some senior care staff and management are no longer there. Ultimately, the Care Inspectorate upheld no less than 17 of my complaints and you can see all the failures on their website. I sincerely hope there is dramatic improvement.
The level of care that my aunt is provided with is second to none. The facilities are great but more importantly, the staff are amazing. The staff are so attentive to my aunts needs. The staff are very friendly and professional. The events are brilliant too. Recently the home had arranged a summer fayre. My aunt had such a lovely time on such a summer day. I can't thank them enough for their care and support.
My brother in law received excellent care and attention before he recently passed away at Cumbrae House after spending a year there. My husband is grateful for the way his brother was looked after in his final stage of life. The Manager has been extremely helpful since my brother in law's death. She has helped us by guiding us through the various processes as well as offering practical help in person, by email or phone, as we live in a different part of the country. All the staff we met have also been very friendly.
My husband arrived in Cumbrae House late September 2024. He had been suffering from dementia and delirium due to infection after an accident for almost five months. He was scared, disorientated and very unhappy. After some months and with the help of the amazing staff in Cumbrae House, he has not only settled down but has also shown a huge improvement in his cognitive abilities. He has been cared for and encouraged to integrate by every member of staff be they cleaners, medical, carers or management. My family are delighted by his progress and thankful to this care home.
Thank you for your kind words on our support/engagement not only to your loved one but as a family. we appreciate your feedback and unwavering support of our team and approaches Karen and the Cumbrae Team
We even get to shine our shoes each week with a handy shoe shine machine in reception!! Thanks for all your care. Much appreciated.
thank you very much for taking the time to offer feedback on our community and in turn your experiencewe appreciate the support and recognition for our teamKaren and the Cumbrae Team
I can't thank the team at Oakbridge Intermediate Care Unit enough for the outstanding care they provided to my dad during his stay. After being discharged from hospital, he needed dedicated support and rehabilitation-and the staff at Oakbridge delivered that and more. We are incredibly grateful for everything the staff did-they truly went above and beyond. Highly recommended.
My sister has been a resident of Cumbrae House for nearly four years now after suffering a severely disabling stroke. Due to the dedicated professional care and support provided by the manager and her staff my sister has achieved a quality of life well beyond my expectations. This means that the support extends beyond the resident to family and friends who are aware that she enjoys comfort and dignity in her surroundings.
Thank you for your review. We are thankful for your support. The Cumbrae team
Moved mum in to Cumbrae house three weeks ago having visited numerous other care homes in the west end of Glasgow trying to find the best fit for my mum who has advanced Alzheimer's. Felt confident because of the professionalism and empathy of the manager, Karen, and subsequently every staff member I have engaged with has impressed me. I am an experienced nursing professional with a background in health care standards so am very critical and observant of health care establishments and so far I have been very pleased with my mums care. All of the staff are kind, caring and alert to mums needs. I shall continue to post reviews - but so far I am very happy with the care provided by Cumbrae House.
I would highly recommend Cumbrae House Care home for the helpful staff who provide a high level of care but go the extra mile ensuring the residents feel part of the community and encouraging them to take part in the activities provided. I have also witnessed the senior staff spend time with the residents encouraging them to mix with newer residents helping them settle in and feel part of the Care Home community. This provides relatives with the reassurance that their loved ones feel safe and are cared for as individuals.
Everyone takes care of my gran so well that I have no worries she's been taken care of. We all have such a great laugh when we are visiting with the staff. My gran is so settled and loves it and loves all the staff.
It was humbling to speak with the lady in charge of it and her team and see how determined they were to do their best for all residents and relatives and they deserve nothing but the highest praise and respect.
I was told to contact the owner in regards to the passing of my aunt who was a resident there. When arrived at the home. We were met by staff who were very polite. The home itself was spotless, very neat and tidy. When we met the owner she was very polite and was able to tell me some of the stories regarding my aunt and the antics that she would get up to with members of staff who helped look after her. We asked the owner if it would be possible to see how big the room was that my aunt's but as another resident had moved into that room, she showed us another room that had the same layout as my aunt's. The room was spacious clean tidy and very homely.
My Mum moved into Cumbrae House straight from the hospital. This was intended to be a short temporary placement until our preferred home became available. Immediately we felt at home. From the manager to admin staff, carers, domestics, and entertainment coordinators we were shown compassion, care, and professionalism at this very emotional time for my mum and my family. We had Mum's 6-week review and were so impressed by the care we agreed my mum's stay should be permanent. In a few months, my Mum seemed to settle in and was less anxious, well looked after, and safe. We could go home knowing she was being cared for well. She was encouraged to join in with the numerous activities available from Valentine’s Day, bingo, and summer fete. Her medical care was coordinated with the nursing staff and a local GP and any changes in my Mum’s condition were acted upon quickly. The care and compassion shown at her end-of-life care will never be forgotten. Thank you.
Cumbrae house was welcoming from the outset. During very difficult circumstances my dad and the family were fully informed and supported. The staff were available and always happy to discuss dad's progress and care. They planned care well as his needs changed during his stay. He was a challenging resident with varying needs which were addressed with understanding and compassion. Pleased to see the same staff throughout his stay. All staff members from the manager, nurses, carers, housekeeping, domestics and admin staff were kind and considerate. They were friendly and always made you feel welcome. A busy environment they showed patience even during very difficult circumstances. Dad received residential, nursing and palliative care from staff who really did care. Thank you to you all just does not seem enough.
Thanks to all staff for the respect and dignity you showed to him and to the family.
My mum went to Cumbrae house for a week's respite. I took my mum the week before for a visit to see the place we were both very impressed with how lovely and clean the place was and the manager was very helpful. Mum's week was great she has told everybody who comes into the house she enjoyed her time there, an absolute bonus I was so happy and I didn't worry about her when I was on holiday it's a great wee place. The staff are all brilliant from cleaners, to carers and management I would thoroughly recommend this home. Thanks to the manager for keeping this well organised and run and the manager also organised Mum to have her papers every morning as she loves her papers. Hopefully, next holiday I go I will be asking for Mum to go here for respite. Thanks.
Thank you for your feedback, we welcome any feedback as it allows us to develop our service and in turn the experience for those living within our communities. Very much appreciated.
My mum was in their care for 3 years has just passed away, lovely ladies always did their best, cannot fault any of them, always helpful with a smile, I would say anyone going into Florence House will find them lovely always gave you a drink and a chatter, thank you all.
My father was a resident at Oakview Manor for the final 2 months of his life. He had dementia and had been in and out of 6 other care homes or hospitals. Oakview was by far the best care home. The staff without exception were very caring and attended to his needs at all times. His room was always clean and tidy and he enjoyed the food on offer. His bad skin condition improved significantly as he was bathed daily and lotions regularly applied. Although he had lost interest in most activities, the activities staff made a great effort to try to engage with him and got some response. In the end, one member of staff attended to his last requests, made him comfortable and he thankfully passed away peacefully. Our whole family would like to thank all the staff at Oakview for all the wonderful kindness and care provided to my father. I would have no hesitation in recommending this home to anyone needing care in old age.
