Review of Pennwood Lodge from J D (Daughter of Resident) published on 29 June 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
We are so glad that mum and dad came to Pennwood Lodge. This has been one of the most difficult times for our family, ever, and the staff there have been nothing but kind and supportive. The manager has a wealth of knowledge and her paramount concern is that the residents' wishes are respected. The rest of the staff are unfailingly patient and always do their best 24/7.

Would highly recommend.

Reply from Danielle Jones, Registered Manager at Pennwood Lodge

Review of The Old Vicarage from Gail S (Daughter of Resident) published on 1 June 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

I'm very pleased with The Old Vicarage. Their care of my mother has been exemplary. Daria has kept us well informed when my mother was unwell. Mum has been out on trips with staff and thoroughly enjoyed herself which is something that we as family could not do with her when she was resident at home.

Reply from Daria Koeller, manager at The Old Vicarage

Review of The Old Vicarage from John F (Son of Resident) published on 18 May 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My mother has severe dementia and has resided at the Old Vicarage for approx 5 years. Staff are knowledgeable, caring, respectful, proactive and keen to respond and act on any ideas, concerns or suggestions to improve care and enhance the environment. Staff discuss, collaborate and agree care needs with relatives, seeking medical advice when necessary.
Management at the home is keen to encourage and involve carers/ friends and relatives to visit and participate in the activities provided in the home. A support group for friends and relatives meets most months when people can share their thoughts and experience. Friends and relatives are free to visit the home at any time without notice.

Facilities are basic but adequate. Activities are provided to stimulate residents in keeping with their interests and ability. Recent activities have included exercise sessions/Easter egg hunt/trips to garden centre/Christmas party/pantomime and daily creative activities such as painting.

Reply from Daria Koeller, manager at The Old Vicarage
Dear John,
Thank you for your review. Thank you for taking an active part in our friends and family group. Currently we are undertaking a refurbishment in line with a newly built extension.
Kind regards,

Daria

Review of Westgreen House from Robert Q (Husband of Resident) published on 27 June 2025 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

We visited several care homes when looking for residential care for my wife who has dementia and our visit to Westgreen House put it streaks ahead of the others. Considerations included outlook for the residents, catering, activities, cleanliness, and personnel. During our visit we were warmly greeted by all staff we came across which was the deciding factor along with 24 hour nursing care. Since my wife has been living there all staff continue to greet us very warmly and clearly are looking after her very well. Catering is also excellent.

Review of Westgreen House from Ian C (Son of Resident) published on 25 October 2022 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

My father entered Westgreen House in March 2022 and unfortunately passed away in September 2022. All the time he was there, he was treated with the utmost respect and dignity by all the staff from admin through care workers to nurses. I was completely satisfied with the way he was treated and would recommend Westgreen House to anyone.

Overall Experience

I placed my father in Westgreen House based on the recommendation of my friend. My first meeting with the manager was very reassuring that they could manage my father's needs. I was given a tour of the home, it was reassuring to see that significant improvements were being made to the facilities. I was offered a choice of rooms, all were freshly decorated. Levels of staffing were excellent, both care and nursing staff. Polite, attentive and aware of Dad's status. The nursing staff were exemplary, they were so on it. They were all friendly, helpful, informative and very skilled. Sadly my father passed away but during his three months with Westgreen House, he received excellent care. Thanks to all!

Review of Westgreen House from K M (Daughter of Resident) published on 21 September 2020 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

The management and staff provide a safe, caring environment for Mum and the other residents. This has been particularly appreciated throughout the covid-19 crisis. I have full confidence in their commitment and ability to provide my mum with both physical and emotional support that she needs. The home and gardens are pleasant and welcoming (as are the staff). Mum (who was always a fussy eater) thoroughly enjoys the food, and the activities help to occupy her day.

We have been very pleased with the care Mum has been given since she arrived in March. Unfortunately, she was settling in and even enjoying activities then Covid19 happened. Through no one's fault, she mainly stayed in her room. We have noticed she had deteriorated as she hadn't any visitors etc. So glad now we can come and visit.

Had to make a quick decision regarding nursing home care for Mum as hospital needed bed, and discharge her into the care sector Kingswood Lodge was recommended by a friend whose relative had been cared for previously. After our visit and meeting staff and getting a feel for the home, we were happy to place our Mother in their care. We have not regretted that decision.

Review of Westgreen House from Mary H (Sister of Resident) published on 24 February 2020 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

My sister has been here almost 3 years and every effort is made to make life as comfortable as possible. Staff, on the whole, are kind and supportive. There is a varied activities programme with something on each day. I also read poetry and play music at times and help. My sister is supported to undertake activities and helps to run something at weekends, so staff use her skills and she enjoys it.

Review of Westgreen House from Richard H (Nephew of Resident) published on 22 June 2018 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

My aunt has been a resident for nearly a year and I am extremely happy with the care and support she receives. The centre has such a family and friendly atmosphere with lots of activities to keep residents stimulated, involved and active. The staff feel like extended family who genuinely care and put the residents first. It gives me great reassurance that she is treated with dignity and is being supported to live a happy and actively rich life in a happy, friendly and very professional environment.

My mother had respite care at Kingswood Lodge Care Centre for 12 days and was well looked after and recovered well enough to go back home after a fall and stay in the hospital. The family were very pleased with the care and attention given to mum by the staff during her stay.

Review of The Old Vicarage from Katie M (Daughter of Resident) published on 31 January 2018 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My Mum is currently in The Old Vicarage. We agonised over her care at home for along time. When the manager visited us at home we were all put at ease. Mum has been there a month now and the care she is receiving is outstanding. The staff have a genuine love for the residents and I know that Mum is well cared for. It was the hardest thing we had to do putting her into care, but the team here have made it bearable for us. They don’t only care for the resident, they look out for the family too. Highly recommended.
