Seymour Court was certainly the perfect place to be for the final 4 days of my sister's life for her end-of-care treatment. She was sent there from Derriford Hospital. From the time she arrived on the Tuesday until she passed away on Friday, she was treated by every member of staff with the utmost care,
dignity and affection. Nothing was too much trouble if any of the family members needed a cup of tea, just a simple cuddle or just a chat they were all there for us. It made us all feel like we had known every member for years. When my sister passed the dignity they all showed to her was exceptional there are not enough words to tell you all how much you helped us all through this difficult time in our lives. True angels in disguise one and all.

Seymour Court has been the right place for my brother to live the final seven years of his life. I viewed ten homes to find somewhere for my brother to go after being discharged from a stroke rehab unit, and this was the last one I visited (saved the best till last). I turned up unannounced and was
greeted warmly by the manager. Immediately I was given a sense of confidence that it would be the right place for my brother, and that has been the case. They have always treated my brother with care, dignity, interest and affection. Being younger than most of the residents, my brother, having been there a long time, has seen inevitable changes in personnel, but the continuity and standard of care, even though the Covid pandemic, has been consistently good. The manager and the nursing lead have always treated me well and made me feel like we were all part of my brother's family.

My mum has been a resident at Seymour Court for a year now. I cannot fault the amazing staff for their love, care and attention to everyone there. The manager manages an amazing team of staff. She is also very approachable and helpful in everything. For the first time in eight years, I can relax and
know that my mum is so well cared for. I also know that for any changes, they will contact me straight away. It's always very clean, the food is amazing, and the staff become a second family, which when you have a loved one so poorly is so very important. I cannot thank you all enough for looking after her; such a massive change in her overall well-being since being there. We love all of you.

Our friend and neighbour, who recently passed away, was receiving palliative care at Seymour Court. We could not fault the level of care that was given to him over the period that he was a resident there. All of the staff were very friendly and welcoming towards us and always took the time to update
us on current developments. The compassion and care that we saw being given to our friend was outstanding. The manager of Seymour Court spent a lot of time in discussion with us, both personally and on the phone; she is to be congratulated on her leadership of the team.

My dad was moved into Seymour Court from a care home as he had begun to deteriorate. We found the staff at the home incredible, caring and compassionate and treated him with respect at all times. He was well looked after. My sister and I were able to see him regularly and were made to feel welcome all
the time. We fully recommend Seymour Court. We were always kept informed if there were any changes to his health. We cannot thank all the staff enough.

The home is well-managed, staffed by the most caring, gentle and considerate people. They all contributed to making my mother's few remaining moments a calm and peaceful time, showing compassion and understanding and treated with dignity. At a difficult time, they showed love and understanding; they
are all a credit to their profession. We, as a family, could not have asked for a better environment and care.

Seymour Court had my mother as a resident from January-March when she sadly passed away. The absolutely fantastic love, care and attention that my mother received at Seymour Court has been replicated by even her own family.
Every member of staff is friendly, respectful, helpful, loving and caring,
and nothing is a problem.
For my mum, it was the same as being at home. I couldn't have asked for a better place for my mum to spend her last months.

My mother has been at Seymour Court for nine months, and during that time, the care she has received has been second to none. The staff and management really are like an extended family. They treat Mum with love and respect. The home itself is spotlessly clean, and the food is perfect. All are freshly
cooked onsite daily. Seymour Cour is most definitely a 10/10.

During the 15 months of my stay, I was treated expertly at all times. Even though my initial behaviour was extremely challenging. Sent from Derriford Hospital as an end-of-life patient unknown to me, thanks to the love and excellent treatment of all at Seymour court I'm now living in an extra care retirement
home. I owe my life to them, words can't convey the love and respect I have for them all. They are a wonderful group of dedicated people. My eternal thanks to them all.

Mum had a really lovely seven-week period of respite care at Seymour Court. All the staff were incredibly warm and friendly, and nothing was ever too much trouble. The home itself was clean and well-maintained, and Mum's room was bright and airy. The meals looked delicious, and there was a constant
supply of tea and cake. As a family member, I was always made to feel welcome visiting regularly. It was so reassuring to know Mum was in a safe and caring place.

My father was at this fantastic home for 19 months until his death on September 25th. All the staff are so caring and treat the residents like family. The manager is very professional, and the head nurse is a remarkable lady. She did a long shift to be with Dad until the end, something I will never
forget. As I live away, I couldn't visit as often as I would have liked, but knew Dad was comfortable and well cared for. The food is great; Dad loved Friday fish and chip day with mushy peas. Seymour Court is so special - to give them 100% is not enough. I will never forget all you have done for my dad; thanks to every one of you.

My husband received end of life care in this wonderful home. The staff are so supportive, nothing was ever too much trouble, they work together and make a great team. The nurses are also very knowledgeable, always on hand to answer any queries, all led by a very competent and caring manager. The food
is cooked fresh daily and is delicious, thanks to two very talented chefs. In such a difficult time, Seymour Court became our port in the storm, we are so thankful to all the staff for the exceptional care and support, not only for my husband but for us also.

My father was only under their care for six days as he was end of life, but the care given was excellent. His dignity was returned after being in the hospital for three weeks. All the carers were supportive towards us all, and nothing was too much trouble. Food looked and smelt appetising, and his room
was so cosy and welcoming.

What an amazing nursing home - I cannot thank the team at Seymour Court enough for helping us through these times and caring for my dad with dignity.
It has been amazing the care that has and is being delivered by the team - Dad has enjoyed every meal, all fresh ingredients and freshly made in the
kitchen.
Thank you for helping support not only Dad but all of the family and friends. Mum and I have found this a great comfort to know that the staff all want to help and care.

My partner recently spent time in Seymour Court on an end of life pathway. The care, respect, dignity and professionalism shown to her by all the staff was amazing. Nothing was ever too much trouble to make sure she was always clean and tidy, and regularly checked and comfortable. Not only that, but
I, in particular, and the whole family were treated with respect and kept informed at all times. So would highly recommend Seymour Court for care and support.

My partner had been in Seymour Court for several years with MS. He received the absolute best care given. Meals were freshly prepared, and the carers and nurses there were amazing. Always smiling, and they all took a personal interest in all the clients. This was truly ‘a home’ from home. Always kept
informed of changes and treatments. Very strict with Covid regulations to keep everyone safe. He died peacefully surrounded by loving staff. Before lockdown, there was always entertainment in the lounge.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.559)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.559) out of 10 for Seymour Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 21 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.584 for Seymour Court is calculated as follows: ( (177 Excellents x 5) + (38 Goods x 4) + (12 Satisfactorys x 3) + (7 Poors x 2) + (4 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 238 Ratings = 4.584
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Seymour Court is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 37 registered maximum number of service users is 7.4, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
