My mum received excellent end of life care at Seymour Court.
All the staff were so caring and treated her with dignity and respect.

Her room was clean and bright, and I know she felt safe and comfortable.

My partner had been in Seymour Court for several years with MS. He received the absolute best care given. Meals were freshly prepared, and the carers and nurses there were amazing. Always smiling, and they all took a personal interest in all the clients. This was truly ‘a home’ from home. Always kept informed of changes and treatments. Very strict with Covid regulations to keep everyone safe. He died peacefully surrounded by loving staff. Before lockdown, there was always entertainment in the lounge.

My mother was treated with kindness and dignity. She was made to feel comfortable and secure at the end of her life. They took the time to answer all our questions, even though they were very busy. Nothing was too much trouble.

I have loved staying here. The staff are all lovely, have looked after me well. My needs have always been done. The food is lovely. The nurses and manager have been most understanding and caring. I shall be sad to leave.

My mother was a resident at the above care home for a number of years. The manager and her team were most professional, polite and helpful during this time. I cannot sing their praises high enough, what stars!

Sadly my gran had to go into Seymour Court a couple of weeks ago as an end of life resident. From the moment my gran walked in the door, we, as a family, were made so welcome and felt as if we were by Gran's side every step of the way, until her very last day, even when we were not with her. Every single member of staff were our voices and love when we were not there. The care my gran received was outstanding, and as a family, we are forever grateful. Seymour Court went above and beyond while they were looking after gran and still are now.

Thank you to every single member of Seymour Court for all of their hard work, love and support that they have shown not just our loved ones, but for us, as a family, as well. We couldn’t have done it without you!

I cannot review and recommend this home more highly than extremely excellent. All the staff and the manager are very caring, efficient, professional and kind. My husband died in the home, and I could not have has him in a better place. At the end, the staff nurse and the care home manager were with him and were able to assure me he died peacefully. This was a tremendous blessing to me and my family.

After a year of uncertain times, I have to say I had no worries that my mum was being well looked after. I had photos, videos and regular phone calls from the home, which eased my mind, and something I didn't have to stress over. In all, this home has been a second family to me; they not only care for the residents but the families as well; they go beyond what's needed.

My Dad spent the last 4 weeks of his life at Seymour. I have nothing but praise for the management and staff. My Dad was dreading leaving home to go into the home. He had had a previous very poor experience when he had to go into respite care for a fortnight to give Mum a break. She was his principal carer. Despite the restrictions and guidelines for nursing homes to protect the residents from Covid-19, during the End of Life Care process, the family were allowed unfettered access to Dad to comfort him in his final days and hours. In the end, the staff went beyond the call of duty to be with him so he was not alone as he died. This meant an awful lot to the family. The sector often attracts some very poor and critical publicity. This does not apply at Seymour. It should be held as an example of how a nursing home should be managed!

My dad was terminally ill and was moved here. One lady, immediately, made me and my brother feel at ease at a difficult time. They treated my dad with dignity and warmth for what turned out to be his last two weeks of life. I will be forever grateful for this and would recommend this place to anyone. A lovely, safe place in a very difficult year.

Moved Mum from a care home that provided extremely poor care.
I think it's fair to say that my mum's life was saved because of the outstanding care now provided.

Mum continues to improve through the fab care, support at staff that's provided here by everyone.

My mother in law was taken to Seymour Court from Derriford hospital on end of life care. The care she received was second to none. nothing was too much trouble. On looking through her diary she has entered "they are looking after me extremely well and food is wonderful". Even in her final days the nurses and team were sitting with her and we cannot thank them enough.

My father required care home facilities after being discharged from hospital, following multiple falls and illnesses.
Arrangements were made to transfer him to Seymour Court care home in Plymouth in May 20.
We had no acknowledgement about Seymour Court, we could only pray that it was suitable for his current needs.
As I and most family members live abroad in Asia, it was indeed very difficult with the Covid-19 issue affecting everything globally.
The decision to stay at Seymour Court turned out to be really appropriate for his needs, and I have been receiving timely updates about my father's conditions from the management team led by Manager.
She has been exercising caution and flexibility in her decision about care for my father.
Besides, all staff in the care home have been helpful and professional, they all deserve my highest praise and appreciation.
My father had a very happy 90th birthday celebration party at Seymour Court.

I witnessed the level of care during my 3 weeks stay in Plymouth in July 20.

Seymour Court staff provided wonderful, compassionate support and nursing to my terminally ill mother. They were professional and humane in the care of her and enabled her to spend her final weeks, days and hours secure, safe and pain-free. She also had times of great joy and fun with the staff and residents. They enabled her to face her final hours with calm and dignity. They were profoundly kind to us as a family during the coronavirus crisis and protected their residents and enabled us to have video calls and phone calls to be in touch. My mother wanted me to say thank you for making her feel at home, cared for and able to be at peace as her life ended. I will always be thankful that on the last journey in her life she was with the staff of Seymour Court.

Reply from Marie Claire Foale, Manager at Seymour Court

Thank you for such a beautiful response. It was a pleasure and a privilege to be able to walk the last part of her journey with her. We hope that we have left a positive indelible mark that will remain with you forever. Marie-Claire.

We have been with Seymour Court for a small part of our lives and what fantastic staff. Friendly, caring and looked after my late auntie. The staff go beyond her/his job to attend to my auntie. The nurses and team on site have great control of medication. Information is always available if asked.
