Although it was initially tricky to settle mum in, Registered Manager Kerry and her staff have been fantastic at looking after mum and her specific needs for dementia care. Whilst it hasn't been easy, Kerry helped with ensuring that MCC provided the extra funding for additional care mum needs in the evening and although it is an ongoing battle with the council, Kerry has been supportive and patient in ensuring mum is not farmed off to another provision which cannot meet her needs which Abbotsford can as they have specialist interpreters and support staff who can communicate with mum as well as providing entertainment and cultural and linguistic support as well as home cooking that mum enjoys.
We understand that moving into a care home can be a difficult transition particularly for someone living with dementia. It has been our priority to ensure your Mum receives person-centred care that respects her individual...
My dad has been here two years now and I cannot fault anything. All the staff are amazing at their jobs and our family has the up most respect for everyone. My dad always says they look after him and he is very settled here. Honestly as a family we have nothing but good words to say about the whole care home and the staff. Absolutely brilliant and beautiful caring people.
Thank you for placing your trust in us and for taking the time to share your experience....
My nan stayed here for a week having respite care while me and my mum went away on holiday. The staff was so welcoming, they made her so so happy and made her stay amazing. She loved it. She wouldn't stop telling her family about her stay here. Everytime we went to visit her, she made one friend at Heath Cottage and was telling us how she enjoys it, The staff members all adored her too. She sadly passed away in June. Thank you for looking after her for the week in May, Heath Cottage Staff
This place then became mums home until her recent passing . In the years she has been there she has been so well looked after and cared for and her needs were always noted and respected . The staff are phenomenal , caring , loving , respectful and made us as a family feel like we became part of the Thorncliffe family along with mum . We could not have hoped for a better home for mum in her last four years plus on her dementia journey . We are so grateful to the team and the love shown to us all .
Sadly my mum passed yesterday having spent the last 3 years at Heath Cottage. Parts of the building especially the rear gardens require some attention and the decor is not as aesthetically pleasing as some other homes we viewed, however the staff and managment team are fabulous. Mum was happy and well cared for throughout and the wonderful team who took care of her are to be commended. I can reccomend Heath Cottage to anyone who needs a loving care environment for a loved one.
Hi, l had meant to do this review in September when a friend of our family was taken into Abbotsford, and he was honestly so well taken care of. The home is lovely and clean, the staff that l met were warm and welcoming and l was impressed with the person centred way they cared for residents. I would have no hesitation in recommending this home to anyone who needs care.
Our team work hard to provide a warm, welcoming and...
Abbotsford Care Home have been amazing providing a high quality, tailored care provision for my grandmother. They have taken effective steps to ensure my grandma has a great quality life, such as ensuring she is socialising with fellow residents that she gets along with, offering her various meals with high nutrition (as my grandma easily gets bored of eating the same meals frequently), and engaging with activities that challenge her cognitive ability. I would highly recommend anyone who is considering enrolling their loved ones into 24 hour care to choose Abbotsford.
Thank you so much for your kind words and for taking the time to share your experience. We are delighted to hear that your grandmother is enjoying life at Abbotsford. Your recommendation means a lot to us!
Recently a friend of the family was admitted to Abbotsford where he received wonderful palliative care, he had been poorly and could no longer remain at home so went to Abbotsford where he was extremely well treated. After his funeral service, we were invited back to Abbotsford for afternoon tea and celebration of life! A lovely caring home, residents at the heart of everything they do! It ls clear they put a lot of focus on activities to keep residents stimulated, the home was clean and comfortable and the staff all appeared to be caring and compassionate, from carers to seniors, housekeepers and kitchen staff as well as maintenance man, management and activities co-ordinator! It is clearly very well run and managed and l would not hesitate to recommend this wonderful care home.
Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful words. Our team takes great pride in providing compassionate, person-centred care and it means a lot to know that this was reflected in your experience.
I'll be sure to share your lovely comments with the whole team, they'll be delighted to know...
My experience with Wellfield House Care Home was distressing. I found my mother left wet or soiled until sore, without fluids despite infection risk, and sometimes given unthickened drinks despite swallowing needs. She was dressed in others' clothes, overheated indoors, or left in the sun without protection. I noticed unexplained bruises and once found prescribed medication not secured. After a fall, no crash mat or risk plan was put in place. GP instructions were ignored, records did not always reflect what I observed, and residents wandered unsupervised at night near stairs. When I raised concerns, the home gave 28 days' notice, sent her to hospital without informing me, and later refused her return. While some staff were kind, I found systemic failings and unsafe practices that made the home unsuitable. Families should think carefully before choosing this home.
My mum came to this care home straight from hospital and I was impressed with the brightness and overall atmosphere. Unfortunately she was only there for 3 weeks before she passed away, but she received fantastic care, all the staff from the manager to the cleaners were wonderful ,if you are looking for a care home for your loved one I would highly recommend this one.
My mother-in-law has been in Thorncliffe Grange for a month and as a family, it was the best decision we could have made. The care being provided at home was not enough and she was suffering with Stage 4 pressure sores on her back due to a stroke in February which had left her bed bound. She has had such good care from the staff since that her pressure sores are starting to improve as she is now getting the care she needs. The team at Thorncliffe Grane are all friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is always calm and relaxed when we visit which makes it a really nice environment and a more pleasant experience for everyone. My mother-in-law can't get out of bed so she isn't involved in any of the activities but staff going in and chat to her, do her hair and nails. I think the way this home is run is testament to Sarah, the care home manager, who went over and above to help us with what was a really difficult situation transitioning my mother-in-law into a nursing home.
Oh what a lovely review and really thank you so much for taking the time to write it, i will be honest when you visited Thorncliffe Grange to look around as a tentative enquiry and told me of the situation with Mother in law my heart completely went out to you both and to Mother in law suffering...
I can't thank the manager and the staff enough fo the care and the love they show my beautiful mum and the rest of the residents at Wellfield. The home is clean and well run. I know my mum is safe and cared for at Wellfield. I always feel more than welcome when I visit my mum.
Thank you so much for your kind words. It means a great deal to the whole team at Wellfield to know that you feel your mum is safe, cared for and surrounded by love. We are proud to provide a clean, welcoming environment where residents and their families feel at home. Your appreciation encourages...
Not had a positive experience with this care home, my mum and stepdad were both in there, both had dementia it was OK at first then they changed managers and things went downhill. My mum never looked clean and when we said anything they would say she was due a shower today. Not much in the way of entertainment or stimulation for the residents mostly just sat in the lounge sleeping. My mum was in hospital for the last week of her life where she was properly cared for and looked after. There is a code on the front door for the resident's safety but my mum and stepdad managed to get out and walked miles to there old home address the police were called but my sister and I found them and took them back, they had been gone hours and anything could of happened to them but the home just said sorry to us and that's it. If you care about your family I would not send them to this home.
We are sorry to read your review and are sad to know that your lasting experience of our home has been one of concern, after your Mother enjoyed so many happy years (6) with us.We acknowledge there was a change in management 3 years ago. Our Manager has been in post at Wellfield for 11 years and...
I cant speak highly enough of this home and the wonderful staff, the love and care my mother was given in her final days and the support they gave to us as a family was second to none, we couldnt have wished for more dedicated special people to care for her, we will never forget you, thank you so so much.
I would recommend Abbotford to anyone.
It's nice to see how settled and happy he appears.Thank you for your kind words, this will be passed on to staff.
The manager went out of her way to help me get her moved to a permanent place of care.
Thank you for taking your time to review Anita. We are pleased your Mum finally found a suitable placement and hope she is settling.
If you're seeking exceptional care for your loved one in a warm, professional, and dignified environment, Thorncliffe Grange should be at the top of your list. The level of attention and genuine care they provide is truly remarkable.
Thank you so very much Lisa for such a lovely review-please accept my apologies for the delay in replying to it (you know what it's like here!) you, your Mum, your Dad, your brother and sister in law so clearly devoted to each other and made our job so much more pleasurable! from the dragon mum to...
When my brother had to leave hospital for nursing care, I had two recommendations about Thorncliffe Grange, one from a nurse whose Grandmother was looked after there before her passing and another from a care worker who had placed many people in there over many years. Both said although the home itself looked 'tired' the care provided by the staff was second to none. I visited the home on spec' and from the moment I was welcomed through the door I felt the warmth of feeling from all the staff. Just listening to the conversations between the staff and the residents was so comforting, they were singing together, laughing and joking. After my brother moved in, I found this to be exactly the same across all staff, not just the management but the cleaners, the maintenance staff, the doctors, the nurses and of course the hands-on carers. I cannot speak highly enough of all the staff, they were brilliant. If care is what you want either nursing or residential, this home is the best!
Thank you so much G for your lovely review, we know how precious your brother was/is to you and your family - you all did him proud with your dedication and advocating on his behalf. It was our pleasure to support you all caring for him - a very gentile man. I try my best to employ caring,...
My dad came here for palliative care, have to say the team are amazing. The support given during a terrible time for us as a family was just great. My dad loved being here and was cared for so much, shout out to two staff member in particular for their compassion and expertise. We are forever grateful.
Thank you so very much for choosing us for your lovely dad, a true gentleman in every sense! From the minute he arrived, he showed us his sense of humour and was always so very gracious about everything. I am just so glad he got to live near you in his final weeks to spend his time with you his loving son. Take care of yourself.
I visited a friend today and I must say I was very impressed, the staff appear friendly and caring and I particularly liked how they interact with residents, I also met senior carers and they were professional and caring. My friend even said to me that he couldn't wish to be in a better place. Very warm and welcoming and my first impression is I am extremely impressed.
