Douglas House

Douglas House is now a near perfect home for my darling wife, who has been a resident for the last 14 years.
It has own large car park.
It has a pleasing aspect to the eye from the front entrance.
It has large corridors that can let a wheelchair pass another, without any problem.
It has large, clean
and spacious rooms.(some rooms have their own shower room)
It has large and spacious bathrooms.
It has a beautifully kept garden with Koi Carp fishponds.
It has very large communal dining room and activities room.(Excellent in house Physio who works primarily out of activities room). Also activities team.
It has a wonderfully large balcony with various plant and vegetable pots.
Finally it has far more importantly a manager and her team of carers who actually do care for my wife and all other residents and love their job and are exceptionally good at it.
I'm more than happy how wife beautiful wife is being cared for and would wholeheartedly recommend Douglas House as a special carehome

Westmead

Obviously, the lockdown has changed many aspects of the running of Westmead. Things were getting better up until the covid-19 pandemic.
We were hoping that there would be an end to agency staff and a full complement of full-time staff. Also, there would be more drivers, so there could be more outings.
In addition, replacement physio staffing is required, as the physio has left, and more hours are needed for my son I feel.
Reply from Kerry Walton, Service Manager at Westmead

Douglas House

I visited my sister after she moved here a few weeks ago. This place is as much as home from home as you will find. I love that the staff do not wear a uniform which makes for an informal environment. My sister has a lovely, homely room with all her furniture and personal things that make it her home.
The staff were at hand without being intrusive and talked like a friend rather than a carer, absolutely wonderfully caring and genuine people who love their job. I was made to feel I was entering my sisters home and not a institution. Well done to this amazing team and thank you for being a friend to my sister.
