Review of Southcroft from Wendy W (Daughter of Resident) published on 22 November 2018 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Southcroft is a wonderful place for my 96-year-old mum. Her need for independence is both respected and encouraged, while discreet careful support is provided as needed. The staff are kind and friendly and mum is starting (she's been there for 3 months) to feel part of a family living in Southcroft.

A recent illness was dealt with swiftly and effectively and communication with me was just as it should be.

Southcroft has various activities which mum can join as she wishes. The flats are very clean and in comparison to others I've seen, spacious. They are well fitted out and provide the level of privacy and independence needed. The building itself has been described by friends as like a big hotel. Its beautifully decorated, clean and importantly doesn't have that 'care home' smell! :-)

Mum tells me the bistro food is good.

All in all the decision to move mum into Southcroft was one of the best decisions we've ever made. Highly recommended.

Review of Fairthorn from J M H (Daughter of Resident) published on 31 January 2018 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My mother has been living at Fairthorn for 8 years. It has been brilliant. She lives in a lovely apartment, with a balcony with amazing views, overlooking the Peak District. Fairthorn is very friendly and inclusive, which is great for my mother as she is very social and spends a lot of time in the communal lounge playing board games, Rummikub and Bridge with the other residents.

There are lots of other regular activities such as Pie and Pea nights, Art Group and discussions with the Chaplain. In addition, ad hoc events are arranged at short notice, such as ice cream and summer drinks outside in the grounds, when it is hot. The staff are very caring and it is great for my mother and myself to know that there is a member of staff present at all times if she is not well or there is some sort of problem.

Review of Southcroft from J A (Daughter of Resident) published on 31 August 2016 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience
Staff are kind, caring, attentive and cheerful.
Activities - My mother enjoys going to knit and natter, film night and craft workshops, as well as going on trips out. Staff also organise parties for special occasions.
Building - lots of light. The back garden and patio area are well used on warm days.

Flat - The rooms are quite small, but they have a lot of light.

Review of Mapplewell Manor Senior Day Centre from Olive D (Resident / Service User) published on 18 August 2016 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

I have lived here for just over a year and I like it. My family live over the road and I can see their house through my window. This is a lovely place, everything about it is just right but I would rather be at home. The food is very good, I'm not a big eater but what I do have is lovely. I can have a cup of tea whenever I want one and that's the best. The staff are like my children and I like to be called Mother. My room is lovely and I like to nap there after my meals. Lovely people here and friends.
