Figham House

from Andrew R (Friend of Resident) published on 23 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

I visited a long standing friend in March 2025, sadly during their last hours. I was really impressed by the way Figham House offered my fried dignity in their most vulnerable hours but also looked after everybody connected with my friend. There was a calm, friendly and respectful environment.
I have
had to visit many care homes over the year and I was struck by the balance of homeliness, cleanliness and contemporary fit out of Figham House. The environment smelt fresh which is not always the case in such establishments. All in all, I felt Figham House looked after my friend, considered their family and was reactive and flexible.

My granny stayed at Figham for a year before she passed away, and the care was amazing. The staff were lovely to both residents and family/friends, and the house was a really nice environment. We felt safe and assured that she was in good hands throughout her stay.

My mum has been a resident at Figham for nearly 3 years. The care she has received throughout her stay has been fantastic. They have treated her as part of a family. I knew if I couldn't visit, they would look after her as well as I did. Having recent experienced their end of life care, I can say that
they went to great lengths to make Mum's last weeks as comfortable as possible and to support us as a family. From giving us space and time to be together as a family, to giving drinks and food whenever we needed it. All the staff were amazing. I can't thank them enough for all they did. It made a difficult time so much easier to cope with. Thank you all.

My mum initially came for respite care however, she has settled in and is happy to be here. We are content knowing that she is safe and well cared for by professional, caring and kind staff. All the staff are kind and engaging with her, and she always looks well cared for and clean. She enjoys the food,
and we feel happy that she is encouraged to eat her meals with the other residents. She enjoys activities like going for a walk down the beck.

Figham House

from Chloe B (Partner of Resident) published on 10 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Cared for my partners grandmother, all so lovely and welcoming. All the carers had caring relationships with all the patients including my partners grandmother. So attentive and treat each resident as if they were family. Even in my partners grandmothers last hours, carers were not only looking after
her every need, making sure she was comfortable but also employees involved in her care rang the home on their days off to see how she was. When we visited, the carers always asked if we wanted anything. They were also so kind about my son who was born prematurely, they were always asking my mother in law for updates on my son and when he was finally able to meet his great grandma, the carers were so glad to see him which to me showed how much they listen to not only their residents but the relatives and are so involved with the care they do. She has now passed but she was so well taken care of and they assured us they will always be there to support. Amazing

All the staff at Figham House gave my mother and our family amazing care during the years she was a resident but especially during the last few weeks of her life. They were all compassionate and caring. Nothing was too much trouble for them, they looked after us all physically and emotionally and it
was apparent that they all cared for our mum, very much. During this time we visited day and night, and I noticed that their care was great with all the other residents too.
The end of life care they gave our mum and the support they gave our family was second to none and I would not hesitate to recommend Figham House to anyone looking for excellent care for their loved one

Oaktree Hall & Lodge

from Amanda S (Daughter of Resident) published on 9 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My mother was very reluctant to go into residential care, although it was evident she needed to for quite a while. On the day my mother was admitted to Oaktree, she was treated exceptionally well from the minute we arrived. Within 15 minutes, she was smiling and told me to leave as she was happy.
She
has partaken in the activities and spoke about them when I visited. Since moving in permanently, she is happy, looks better than she has for a long time, her general health has improved and she is well nourished.
All of the staff are friendly and helpful and finally, I can sleep knowing she is safe and looked after.

Oaktree Hall & Lodge

Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My mother arrived in Oat Tree for respite in September 2024 after breaking her ankle in a fall and spending a number of weeks in hospital.
We had heard some poor reviews about the standard of care, the food and the general wellbeing experienced by previous residents, however, if I was to be totally
honest, the majority of these were, here say so we remained open minded.
Whilst initially, my mother did experience some issues, in the first few days, with the food not being warm enough, this was always immediately addressed to her satisfaction.
This was the only minor issue my mother experienced.
Every single other aspect of the care home was exemplary, all of the staff, without exception, are superb and epitomise the meaning of the word 'CARE'.
Nothing is ever too much trouble for them, they treated mum with respect, with compassion when needed, they listened and they enabled mum to keep her dignity right up to the moment she passed away.
I cannot recommend Oak Tree enough. Thank you

My experience here has been positive. Things have been explained with care and support. I have felt able to ask and made aware of any issues. The cleanliness is to a good standard. The food has also been prepared in a varied and sensitive manner. Being a vegetarian I have been given a good choice of
food. All are friendly. Inclusion is encouraged, and hospital appointments are made with a chaperone. I have been very happy here.

Foresters Lodge

from Philip W (Husband of Resident) published on 23 December 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My wife did not want to end her life in a care home, but her health had deteriorated to such an extent that she needed full time nursing care, which was simply not possible at home. She was in the home for just over a month and she received, at all times, the best care possible. I told the staff that
I would score them 11 out of 10 because they went far beyond the necessary. They showed her great care and love. She had become very frightened of being washed, or turned, but the care she received makes me weep even now. It was amazing and I am so grateful. I would still have liked her to die at home, but this was every bit as good, and nothing seemed to ever be too much. So I am really grateful and I am already recommending the home to others!

Reply from Jackie Brook, Care Relationships at Foresters Lodge

Thank you so much for your heartfelt review. We are deeply moved by your words and honoured to have been able to care for your wife during such a difficult time. always greeted with a smile and a good word. This has been also said by many of the other families.
