Review of Priestley Care Home from Brian S (Nephew of Resident) published on 5 August 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
Welcomed at reception during signing process. Went to first floor and was met by a member of staff who appraised me of the mornings activities and how well my relative had done.

On entering the lounge my relative was drinking tea. She was clean and well presented and engaging with other residents and staff. During the visit my relative was asked to play a game of feeling objects in side a box. I was also show some photos of the other activities my relative had taken part in. Throughout my visit I spoke with staff who were very informative and brought me up to speed with my relatives stay to date, I saw ample evidence of staff engaged with other residents despite carers trying to have their meal break. The areas were all clean and tidy and well presented. Staff were constantly asking if residents required drinks and snacks and all staff had a warm, kind and friendly approach which is a real credit to everyone Thank you.

Reply from Maxwell Andrews, Marketing Lead at Priestley Care Home

Review of The Hawthornes from Janet H (Daughter of Resident) published on 4 August 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Over the last few years I have seen a change in my dad's care. Due to his mobility he cannot move around without help. Staff at the Hawthornes have been brilliant with him. He doesn't miss out on anything. He is taken from his room every morning and then into the lounge with other residents for meals and activities.

He does have dementia and can be difficult but staff have adapted to his need and he is encouraged to join in activities and socialise which he really enjoys.

Dad has a special diet which is adapted and monitored for his needs so he doesn't miss out on his favourites. They even buy in Mucky fat because he loves it!

Its a lovely clean and caring home, with great staff who obviously love their jobs. Dad has been in 4 care homes over the years and this is the best by far.

Reply from Joanne Davy, Home Manager at The Hawthornes

Thank you so much for your lovely comments. It really is a pleasure looking after your dad, and we're grateful for your kind words. Your feedback means a great deal to our team, and we truly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.

Review of The Sycamores from Claire B (Granddaughter of Resident) published on 24 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My Nana has been with Sycamores on a respite basis for a few weeks now on the hope that her stay would become permanent. It's been quite the journey and quite the battle with social services to convince them that our Nana was unsafe to live back at home.
I can safely say that if it wasn't for the support and backing of the manager, Steve and the staff, we wouldn't have got as far as we did and have the situation assessed for Nana to stay, and now she's staying on a permanent basis, so not only is Nana now going to be safe and well cared for but as a family we can breath a sigh of relief knowing that she is in the best hands.
We also want to give a shoutout and thank you to their senior carer, Danny, he is one in a million and worth his weight in gold, the way he is with Nana is beautiful and she even said herself she would be lost without him. Thank you to you all for your care and support.

Here's to my Nanas next fresh and safe chapter.

Reply from Maxwell Andrews, Marketing Lead at The Sycamores

Thank you for such warm and generous words. We're delighted that the family can breathe a little easier knowing your nana is safe and settled. Danny will be especially touched by what you've said. Here's to your nana's next chapter with us at The Sycamores.

Review of The Sycamores from Linda W (Daughter of Resident) published on 24 July 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

The Sycamores is a warm friendly environment to be, the staff are happy most of the time and the residents are treated with respect and dignity. The staff go above and beyond to help the residents with their needs. A well managed home and functions well, the manager has always been very approachable and willing to discuss anything that is required for my mum. Domestic staff work hard to ensure the home is well cleaned and the kitchen staff work hard to make sure all residents are fed with a good healthy diet, with a new menu for residents to choose from daily. Thank you Sycamores care team much appreciated

Reply from Maxwell Andrews, Marketing Lead at The Sycamores

Thank you for such generous feedback. It's lovely to hear the warmth of The Sycamores comes through, and that you find the manager approachable whenever you need to discuss your mum's care. We're glad the work of the domestic and kitchen teams hasn't gone unnoticed either. We'll share your thanks with everyone.

Review of Rastrick Hall & Grange from Michael R (Friend of Resident) published on 3 July 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

My wife and I visited Rastrick Hall and Grange to visit a family friend. The staff we interacted with were most attentive, friendly and hospitable. Our friend seems settled, although there is a review pending to improve things. We were encouraged by the staff care that we saw. As my wife has mobility problems we believe staff went the extra mile by providing a wheelchair to and from the resident we visited.

Reply from Maxwell Andrews, Marketing Lead at Rastrick Hall & Grange

Thank you for taking the time to visit and share this feedback. We're pleased the team's attentiveness and hospitality came through during your visit. We're keeping a close eye on the pending review to ensure things continue to improve for your friend. Thank you for your kind words.

Review of The Hawthornes from A O (Niece of Resident) published on 29 June 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My aunt passed away at The Hawthornes almost three months ago and sadly, as many people know, the death of a loved one is a difficult time. A busy time too with so much to deal with. Joanne and her team, having lovingly cared for my Aunt for over two and a half years, also cared for her on the day she died. They completed all the formalities professionally and compassionately and supported me throughout, with many attending her funeral. Knowing that my aunt was safe and cared for in the final chapter of her life gave our family great peace of mind.

My dad has really settled into life at The Hawthornes. There's also lots of activities to do and the staff are so friendly and caring.
They helped my dad settle in and have been there through some difficult times both for my dad and myself.

Looking back I don't know how we coped when my dad was at home. We both comment on how the move to The Hawthornes was the best thing we did.

I think my father receives a good standard of care. He gets on well with the staff, and they seem very fond of him. On days when he is unwell, they seem to treat him conscientiously and with kindness. I am grateful for the care they provide, and when I do raise any issues, they are dealt with efficiently.

Overall Experience
Over all the care is good, the staff are run off their feet and do long shifts.
The carers I have been in contact with are excellent, however night shift could do with a shake up regarding toileting care.
Unfortunately the food is poor and overcooked, tasteless and not a great variety.
The elderly don't want a pie or a pasty that cant be cut or even chewed

Not sure where the ingredients come from but its such a waste of food when they can not eat it, I have seen what is served and it requires upgrading/ training perhaps.

Review of The Hawthornes from M H (Son of Resident) published on 3 June 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My Mum has been a resident for 2 years. All the carers and staff at The Hawthornes do a fantastic job under difficult and sometimes very upsetting circumstances. I am confident and feel reassured that my Mum is safe and cared for, which is not easy given her overall health, age and fragility. I am a regular visitor at different times of the day and have seen everything they do at first hand . Let's not forget those times when carers and staff alike are there for a resident at the end of life stage and the strength it must take for them to deal with and carry on, which deserves some recognition. Everyone treats the residents with respect and care they deserve, especially those suffering with various types and stages of dementia. There are regular well organised activities for the residents to enjoy along with having their hair and nails done. Thank you to all the staff, kitchen, cleaners, carers and management for all they do and for looking after my Mum at The Hawthornes.

The majority of the time, I feel my mum is happy, well looked after by the staff. The staff keep my posted on hospital appointments she may have or if there are any concerns. My mum has mentioned though that the food 'has gone downhill'. She says its not always warm and isn't as good as it used to be.

Review of The Hawthornes from L W (Daughter of Resident) published on 20 May 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Mum has been a resident here for 18 months. After settling in, she has been happy here. Her mobility has improved: she was using wheelchair when arrived, but now walks independently with a frame. Her nutritional needs have been carefully monitored and referral to dietician: she arrived at under 7 stone, but is now back to her normal weight of 9 stone. She is more stimulated and the social aspects have been positive for her. She told me when I visited last week that she 'loved living here'. It has definitely been a positive for her, and as a family it has taken a lot of the worry we had when she was living at home alone.
