My stay was very good, and the time I was in there, I was aware that there were no locks on any door. I found a female in my room when I returned for my lunch to get my drink for the afternoon. And the night before I came home, I was awakened by a male trying to enter my room, and being told it was
not his room. I think there should be locks on the doors.
Reply from Joanne Davy, Home Manager at The Hawthornes

Thank for for your kind feedback, just to reassure you the doors do have locks and I am sorry you wasn't aware of this. We will ensure to take your feedback as positive and aim to put measures in place.

Sadly our lovely mum passed away on 22 August after nearly 2 years being cared for at The Hawthornes.
I can't praise all the staff enough for the kindness shown to both our mum and us during her last few days. They did everything possible to make sure mum was comfortable & treated with dignity. Mum
even had her hair done during that last week & nothing was too much trouble.
It was superhero day in the home on 22 August & I want to give a massive shout out to all the superhero staff who work at The Hawthornes.
To pass your mum's care to someone else is really difficult, but we made the best choice when our mum moved to The Hawthornes. I can't praise them all enough.

I was not great with my mum being in a care home, but when mum was taken in at Rastrick Hall & Grange, I felt it was the right place for her. The carers are amazing with her, I really feel comfortable with her being in your care. She has all of the carers calling her grandma! I know she isn't sleeping
great, but she has really settled in now, and she isn't packing her bags every day; that is all down to your team, and on behalf of us, I thank you very much for all you do.

We visited a number of care homes before choosing Rastrick Hall for my wife's brother, who suffers from dementia and needed safeguarding. We had reviewed the CQC report and discussed with the management, who were very open and honest about the previous issues. We also researched with local healthcare
professionals and were able to meet with the wife of another resident who had been there for 18 months. She spoke highly of the care. This is an initial impression, but his entry to the home was very good, with really helpful staff. We are very hopeful for the future and will review again.

I would give it 0 stars if I could, appalling care! Rude obnoxious staff and management a complete joke. Unexplained bruising they didn't put on system, I asked about said bruising and I'm accused of challenging! Failed to monitor basic health! Just sedated! Like zombies! Cutting family out of decisions!
Blame care liaison team, blame community mental health team blame doctors for their failures! Someone who can walk talk and feed themselves then 2 days later can't walk talk or feed themselves, goes into hospital with thyroid levels through roof, sodium levels through the roof, 30% kidney function and dehydrated! Loss of weight! But apparently they was fine! I don't call that fine. Banning family! Going against residents human rights! Residents items going missing, which are locked in clinic room! (Cigs) personal possessions out of room! Still owe family money when we moved the resident out after they ended up in hospital due to the negligence of Rastrick.

Shocking behaviour from some of the staff (not all ). You can tell its just a job. My mum was in less than 6 weeks and in the first 3 weeks I discovered she had not been showered or bathed despite being an infection risk. When I challenged this shocking revelation I was informed they had forgot to put
mum on the care plan and the team member would let her manager know straight away, they then tried to back track saying she was on a different care plan!!! ( one that clearly doesn't keep the residents clean then I guess ) they tried to blame mum by stating she refused which she hadn't. she wouldn't. When they showered her that evening after complaining she loved it, the team rang me and I could hear her enjoying herself and having a laugh. The manager didn't appear to be that bothered either, not very approachable. less than 6 weeks my mum sadly passed away due to Sepsis.

We are writing with heavy hearts to say goodbye to this wonderful place, as our beloved dad, passed away on April 4th. My sister and I want to express our deepest gratitude to each and every one of you - the carers, kitchen staff, laundry, and cleaners - for the love, care, and kindness you showed Dad
during his time here. Your dedication and compassion helped him live longer than we expected, and for that, we are eternally grateful.
The receptionist warm welcome and smile every morning brightened our days, and the management, were exceptional in every way. HER support and understanding made a huge difference to Dad's stay and our peace of mind.
If you're looking for a truly lovely and friendly care home, we would highly recommend The Hawthornes without hesitation. The commitment to care and support is truly second to none.
My sister and I will deeply miss the friendships
we've built with everyone here. XX

Dad is very well cared for. He has Alzheimer's and does not have full capacity. I needed to speak to dad about the property he owns and asked if a member of staff could accompany me. The lady on reception spoke with the manager and it was agreed. A senior member of staff did so. We discussed how to
proceed in dad's best interests before speaking to dad. The conversation went very well indeed and dad was happy throughout. A testament to working together in Dads best interests. Thank you
As an extra, I have had to deal with cancer for the past 15 months and everyone at The Hawthorne's has been exemplary in their support of dad and myself through this. I cannot thank you enough!
