Our mom who has Alzheimers was reluctant to move into a care home but the day we took her to look around the staff were so kind, it felt warm and homely. My mom actually said this is the place for me! We can't believe our luck at how happy and settled she is. This is down to the wonderful staff and
the kindness she is given, it feels like one big family. We actually sleep now knowing she is happy and extremely well cared for. My mum never wanted to join in with activities before moving in there and had no interest in food. Now she eats well due to the amazing chefs and does fun activities every day. She's hardly in her room! She tells us she loves the staff and we can understand why. They are a very special team of people and we appreciate all they do for her, we can't thank them enough.
Absolutely top marks for Fitzwilliam House Care Home.

Mum moved to Glennfield Care Home at the beginning of this week, something I've been dreading. Mum had a rapid deterioration with dementia, which has taken us all by surprise & I was worried nobody would know how to care for her like I wanted. I couldn't have been more wrong, the staff on 'Poppy' have
been amazing, they've achieved more with mum in a few days, than I've managed since mums decline. Mum has settled in very quickly & so well, I can now rest at night knowing she's not only safe, but she's also happy. Also a big thank you to the home manager Jan & the receptionists who have also been a massive support this week.
Reply from Jan Davison, Home Manager at Excelcare Glennfield Care HomeThank you so much for sharing this. Moving a loved one into care is never an easy decision, especially when it happens so quickly, so it's really heart warming to hear that your mum has settled in so well. It sounds like the team on Poppy have made a wonderful difference in such a short time. Knowing that she is safe, happy and being so well cared for must bring you a lot of comfort. Your kind words mean a lot to the team. Wishing you and your mum all the very best as she continues to settle in.

On visiting my mum I always have found the care home pleasant and the staff caring. I have visited for some years now and have noticed that the home is always clean and not smelly like some homes. My mum has settled here nicely and the staff help where they can. I do feel there is a lack of staff shortage
but that seems to be the sign of the times now. I have nothing but praise for this home. There is always some activity laid on for the residents and crafts and games too.

My mum is being looked after at Bluebell ward. I cannot fault hr care. The staff are so thoughtful and caring sometimes under extremely difficult circumstances. Mum is well fed, clean and cared for. I haven't reviewed the activities as mum is beyond that now. Not only are the ward staff wonderful, but
your wonderful receptionist is always cheerful and ready to listen to our feelings over mum, which can be overwhelming sometimes. Also want to say the hairdresser is great too.

They work incredibly hard and will be deeply encouraged by your recognition of their dedication. We are also delighted to hear your praise for our receptionist and hairdresser. I visit St Georges Court once per week to visit a friend. Sometimes we chat in his private bedroom, and sometimes in the communal lounge. Regardless of the location, the space feels clean and well cared for. Staff are always friendly, courteous and on hand, should a medical intervention be required.
My friend really enjoys staying at the care home. He even has his toenails cut and hair styled on a regular basis! I might move in myself one day!

My friend is now end of life. Have got to say that all staff have been excellent to my friend and myself when visiting her. I have just returned home to Ireland following a 3 day trip to Glennfields Care Home in order to celebrate my fathers 90th birthday. It really was a case of Planes, Trains and Automobiles just getting there, with flights, buses, car hire and accom to organise. It felt as though there was a lot riding
on this particular trip!
Thanks to the thoughtful and caring nature of all of the staff at Glennfields, it turned out to be a massive success for all concerned - my dad, sister and I had a wonderful time. To be honest, the experience far outweighed my expectations, as his behaviour can be a little unpredictable due to the nature of his dementia. We had a 'mock' lunch (in the little coffee room near reception) and they were able to organise lovely food, drinks and music. They even had a few gifts of their own for my father and joined us in singing "Happy Birthday' to him. They just couldn't have done anything better and I am so grateful to them for helping make it such a special day!
Reply from Jan Davison, Home Manager at Excelcare Glennfield Care HomeThank you so much for your incredibly kind words. It truly means the world to us that the day exceeded your expectations. We understand how important these moments are, especially when navigating the challenges that dementia can bring, and it was an absolute privilege to help celebrate your father's birthday. Seeing him enjoy the lunch, music, and singing along to "Happy Birthday" made it a special occasion for all of us too. We're so pleased we could play a small part in creating such a meaningful memory for you and your family. Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience - it really does mean a great deal to the whole team.

I recently visited this care home and was genuinely impressed. The environment is beautiful, clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully designed to feel comfortable and homely rather than clinical. What stood out the most was the staff. Every member of the team I encountered was friendly, welcoming, and
attentive. They clearly care deeply about the residents and treat them with kindness, dignity, and respect. I would not hesitate to recommend this care home to anyone looking for a safe, caring, and pleasant place for their loved ones.
