Buchan House Care Home

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mum came here in Feb 2025 from the beginning she has been cared for in a wonderful way. I cannot thank all the staff she has been in contact with enough. The staff involved mum in all events even though she was deaf and I enjoyed the photos posted most days, I will cherish these for ever.
The final
days have been the hardest ever and all the staff treated my mum with respect and dignity right to the end. The care for us as a family was well appreciated.
Mum appeared to love them all. I fully recommend you to take a look and trust your loved ones to this wonderful place.

My late sister was transferred in July to Hunter's Down from another care home which faced closure and within a couple of weeks was transferred to the nursing unit. The staff in both units were absolutely fantastic. Friendly, helpful, welcoming, professional at all levels, the manager would always take
time to a knowledgeable me, including chats regarding my sisters condition. Nurses would contact me if and when necessity arose concerning her condition, and waiting for an ambulance due to..whatever the condition.
Walking to the reception desk is always met with friendly staff and continues with carers and then leaving.
My sister was unable to consume any lactose whatsoever due to her allergy. Nothing was too much.
The carers also had a wonderful sense of humour with a friendly smile
5 stars without a doubt and my gratitude to all at Hunters Down for ensuring the short time my sister was with you for making it as good as it could be. Nothing was too much
Thank you

Buchan House Care Home

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My father moved into Buchan House at the start of June. He had been in hospital for 7 months. We were very anxious about the move due to his dementia.
I met the manager on a tour prior to my dad moving in, and I immediately had a good feeling about the home and staff while I was on the tour. From early
visits, it was clear to see they care so much for the people staying there. Each day there are activities for the residents to be involved in.
The food is great quality, and I am kept up to date with my dad with calls from the staff. It is so satisfying that I know my dad is being looked after in such a great care home.
The home is very clean, well maintained and looked after. and all the staff are passionate about their work.

Kevin and I came to see my father-in-law on his birthday to bring him a present and card. The reception area is like entering a hotel with a five-star rating. Very clean, bright and welcoming. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the bedroom my relative has is excellent, including the wet room. Lots
of space and a home from home. Our relative looked very comfortable when we arrived, and what was on the TV was very applicable to his interests.

My mum unexpectedly became a resident following a fall, a rapid deterioration in her memory and a horrible 2 month hospital stay. I was concerned about past reviews and reports but all worries have been dispelled by a very caring and responsive staff. Mum has really enjoyed the wide range of activities
offered and regained much of her pleasure in life and had started to regain weight. She is well cared for and my sister and I are very happy to be kept well informed about her progress and advised about any concerns. They also organised a lovely 90th Birthday for her attended by a few friends and family.
