Aliwal Manor is a nice, clean building. The staff are very kind and welcoming and do their absolute best to meet their clients' needs. There are lots of drink and food options and loads of activities and experiences for the residents. All residents are treated as individuals with dignity and respect.

We came to look around to see if Mum would like to come and live here. Walked in and it was very calm and inviting. The managers were very pleasant and welcoming to myself and my Mum. Mum was happy to stay, and since being here, she has said everyone is so kind and always asking if she is ok. It has
been a bit of a struggle to find Mum somewhere, as she likes her home comforts, which we have found here. Great place to be.

There is a member of staff who is my brothers favourite at glennfield she has a great sense of humour and she has helped him immensely to get him to interact with other people and has got him to get involved in all the activities
He was quite sad when he first went into the home but now with her help
he is flourishing

The rest of the staff are very nice but he certainly has a soft spot for her

Reply from Jayne Masterson, Regional Director at Glennfield Care Home

Thank you so much for your kind words. We're thrilled to hear how much your brother has grown since joining Glennfield, and especially grateful for the impact our team member has had on him. I'm so glad we chose Brook House for mum following her dementia diagnosis.
Being a smaller care home meant we got to know the carers well - and they got to know mum. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the staff are friendly, kind, caring and always willing to help the residents and their families.
Mum's behaviour could be challenging at times but she was always treated with patience, kindness and respect. To know mum was safe, well cared for and had company was a weight off our minds and we are very grateful for the entire Brook House family

St Georges Court

from Sue L (Daughter of Resident) published on 5 August 2025

Dad has only been in St George's a few weeks, but he already feels at home. Decoration throughout is very tasteful and makes it feel very homely and welcoming, all areas are clean clear and tidy. Dad's room is well laid out, he was able to bring furniture and items to make the room feel like his own,
and has a nice view over the gardens. All staff have a positive caring attitude and give dignity and respect to all. There are many daily activities and residents are encouraged to join in or watch/listen. Weekly there is the opportunity to have an appointment with the hair stylist, have a manicure or see the podiatrist. The food is great, residents are encouraged to eat in one of the dining rooms or in their rooms. The food selection is very good, and several options to choose from. There are always snacks and drinks available and the staff are always around to assist. The nursing team are there 24/7, very proficient and caring and I am always kept updated. A great place to stay.

I visited my friend for the first time in several months. I found the home to be very welcoming and friendly.
Team members were smiling and helpful, they took me to see my friend who was doing bingo.
We were able to have a private conversation in my friends room.
The room was cleaned and well
presented, we had a cup of coffee and enjoyed our time together.
I look forward to viewing again soon, I have just found out that the home has a social media account so I can follow the home and see what is happening in the home.

I went to visit a family friend with my mum, I found the home to be clean with no smells like some. Our friend was saying how nice the food was as it is all made in the home.
Our showed us the room she had and this was very light and clean, we went to the garden and met the manager and Libby the home
dog who is such a cheeky little character and friendly with a treat.
We enjoyed our visit and we are planning to go to an event later in the year. We heard that the halloween party for residents is an unmissable event and loved by all of the residents and staff.

Hunters Down Care Home

from M C (Brother of Resident) published on 29 July 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My sister was taken to hospital, a temporary care home to and from her apartment. When she moved from the last care home, she was confused, as before the duty of care from the beginning had been excellent. My sister was taken to hospital and then returned to Hunters Down and was moved to the nursing
section. We were by now extremely concerned for her; however, due to the real care she receives, her condition is much improved, with much gratitude and thanks.
