My husband was in this care home for 2 years.
I want to say a huge thank you to the unsung hero's. The laundry staff, the cleaners.
When my husband passed they were there for me also the senior care person who was on nights when my husband passed.
Not one carer in my husband's dementia floor offered
condolences when my husband passed.
Thank the lord my darling husband is at peace and away from Okeley care home.
Reply from Hayley Gibbs, Home Manager at Excelcare Okeley Care HomeThank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are deeply sorry for the loss of your husband and extend our sincere condolences to you. We appreciate your kind words about our laundry and housekeeping teams, as well as the senior member of staff who supported you during such a difficult time. It means a great deal to know that their care and compassion provided comfort to you, and we will ensure your thanks are passed on to them. We are, however, saddened to hear about your experience regarding the lack of condolences and support from other members of the team following your husband's passing. This is not the experience we would wish any family to have, and we take your concerns very seriously. Your feedback has been shared with the management team so that we can reflect on what happened and identify any lessons to be learned. Thank you again for bringing both the positive and negative aspects of your experience to our attention. We wish you peace and comfort

My father in law has been in Okeley for 3 months, he is very happy and very well cared for. We viewed quite a few care homes but knew straight away this was the top of our list. He calls it his home already, which makes us very happy knowing he is being very well cared for and gives us peace of mind.
Reply from Hayley Gibbs, Home Manager at Excelcare Okeley Care HomeThank you so much for sharing your lovely feedback. Were delighted to hear that your fatherinlaw has settled in so well and already feels at home that truly means a great deal to us. Knowing he is happy, comfortable, and well cared for is exactly what we strive for, and its wonderful to hear that this brings your family peace of mind.
Were grateful you chose Okeley after visiting other homes, and were proud to be the place he now calls home.

Generally good, nursing staff work hard, always nice coming onto reception - warm feeling. Cleanliness in mum's room could be improved, surfaces and particularly bedding with her stoma. Food leave a lot to be desired at times, and is often cold and bland. Still little understanding of foods mum should
not be served
Reply from Hayley Gibbs, Home Manager at Excelcare Okeley Care Homewelcome when arriving at reception. Creating a positive atmosphere is important to us, and its encouraging to know this comes across.
We also appreciate your honest comments regarding the cleanliness of your mums room and the concerns around her bedding and stoma care. Your feedback is invaluable, and we will review this with the team to ensure standards are consistently met. Likewise, your points about the food including temperature, flavour, and dietary suitability will be shared with our catering team so improvements can be made.
Thank you again for raising these points and for recognising the efforts of our staff. Your input helps us continue to improve the care and experience we provide.

Overall Okeley is a great care home, run and staffed by a dedicated team. The management team been fantastic, always supportive and addressed any concerns/issues immediately. All staff have always been welcoming and friendly. The home has a lovely atmosphere and is kept spotlessly clean on the whole
- although I feel that my mum's room could be kept cleaner, i.e. sticky surfaces and more attention to bed linen changes due to her particular issues. Activities team are amazing and always encourages participation. Food needs addressing, more variety needed.
Reply from Hayley Gibbs, Home Manager at Excelcare Okeley Care HomeThank you for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and detailed review. We're delighted to hear that you feel Okeley is a great home and that our dedicated team, including management, has been supportive, responsive, and welcoming. Creating a warm atmosphere and maintaining high standards of cleanliness are priorities for us, so your positive comments mean a great deal.
We also truly appreciate your constructive feedback regarding your mum's room and the food variety. Insights like yours help us continue improving. We will ensure your comments are shared with the relevant teams so these areas can be reviewed and addressed. It's wonderful to hear your praise for our activities team - they will be thrilled to know their efforts make such a difference. Thank you again for your honesty and for trusting us with your mum's care.

Dad was cared for by the wonderful team at St Fillan's in the last four weeks of his life. It was an incredibly difficult time for him and us as a family following the sudden loss of his wife (our Mum) in January.
Anu and her team acted quickly to find us a space (within 24 hours) and went out of their
way to try and help Dad, and us, adapt. Not only did they take the time to get to know Dad they provided comfort and support to us at a time that we were in the depths of grief and navigating Dad's terminal diagnosis.
The care and compassion shown to Dad in the final weeks of his life were outstanding and although we'd planned for him to be at home, with St Fillan's he was absolutely in the best place to manage his pain, and ensure he was as comfortable as possible. For this we will always be so grateful, thank you.
Reply from Anumol Thomas, care manager at Excelcare St Fillans Care HomeDear Julie, It brings us immense comfort to know that your dad was cared for with such compassion and dignity, and that you were able to find solace within St Fillans during what must have been a very difficult time. Your kind words truly mean a great deal to us. We are deeply grateful that you have taken the time to share your experience, and please be assured that your message will be passed on to all of our team members. Hearing that their care and dedication made a positive difference will be incredibly meaningful to them, and they will find your words both encouraging and rewarding. Supporting families and ensuring the wellbeing of our residents is at the very heart of what we do, and it is touching to know that we were able to provide some measure of comfort to you and your family. With our warmest regards St Fillans Team

Bright, clean, comfortable and homely. Attentive and caring staff and management who always are happy to hear your thoughts and concerns. Regular activities to occupy my Dad. Everybody is trying the best in challenging circumstances due to his dementia. I feel he is cared for when I'm not there.
The cost is very high but not compared with others. Apparently care just IS very expensive everywhere.

Stanley Wilson Lodge provided excellent care for mum from the day she arrived. The staff at the desk, admin, cleaners, carers and activity workers were so kind, welcoming and helpful. Mum only had a short time in the home, but it became her home very quickly. She loved the garden and the food and made
new friends. This gave her a new lease of life. She was safe and happy. Finally, a heartfelt thank you to the caring team. They helped her with dignity and kindness and helped grant her final wish, to die at home with the patio doors open and the birds singing.
Reply from Bruna Abrantes, lifestyle coordinator at Excelcare Stanley Wilson LodgeThank you for your lovely words about the team, we will be sure to pass this on to the them. I am a proud volunteer who used to be a resident for rehab after a long spell in hospital. The team I work with (activities) are some of the kindest people I have ever worked with and thoroughly enjoy every minute spent with them. After being a resident myself, I appreciate how important it is to have
an activities team, which may be the only person a resident sees in a day.

Mum has been at Ashlyn since March 2026. She came for respite after a hospital stay due to a fall at home. She then changed to a permanent placement in April. From the very first visit, Ashlyn felt homely and friendly. The staff are all so kind and welcoming, taking the time to get to know mum, and
genuinely wanting to make her feel as happy and safe as possible. Mum has a lovely quiet room with an en suite and a view over the garden. She's quite a shy person and the team respect her preference to stay in her room most of the time, but never give up on gently encouraging her to come out for things she might enjoy, like singers coming in, or scrabble club. The food seems good and there's plenty of it, the team is great at making sure mum is hydrated and getting enough calories. They look after her medication and arrange GP visits if needed. I'm able to visit whenever I want, for as long as I want. It feels like we're part of a family here, and I'm so pleased we found Ashlyn.

We couldn't be more grateful for the care and compassion shown to our aunt at Ashlyn Care Home. From the very beginning, the staff have treated her with patience, dignity, and genuine kindness, making what could have been a very difficult transition feel safe and reassuring for our whole family.
The
team go above and beyond every day - not only meeting her needs but truly taking the time to understand her personality, routines, and what makes her feel comfortable and happy. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and calm, and it's clear that every resident is cared for with love and respect.
Communication with families has also been excellent, giving us peace of mind knowing she is in such capable hands. We've seen such a positive difference in her wellbeing since moving here, and we can't thank the staff enough for everything they do.
Highly recommend to any family looking for outstanding dementia care.
