As an only child visiting my Mother, everyday, for 9 months, I have nothing but praise for the hardworking team that cared for my Mum.
I cared for my Mum myself for 7 years prior to her stay and it was essential for me to continue her journey with her at Sandown Park.
Mum had advanced dementia and
92yrs old when she took a fall, this broke both her hips which couldn't be repaired, making her incontinent and bedridden, consequently she needed Nursing care, Sandown Park was the answer!
We were guided by great, proactive and happy carers, knowledgeable, efficient and skilled Nurses, all of whom were able to give us the time of day, smile, chat and make my visits and Mums stay a little bit easier.
This warm and welcoming care home is driven by Shahnaaz who is just brilliant!
My very resilient Mother passed on her own terms with no infection and was beautifully cared for.

Excellent service and care. Mum smiles every day, according to family, friends and carers that came to visit. Sandown looked after mum with great care and dignity. Mum enjoyed all the meals which were patiently fed to mum. Mum was given a lovely, airy room looking out on to the garden, and she could
listen to music when in her room. Mum was also included in activities, and was given hair washes etc. Overall mum seemed content with her 3 weeks in respite care and all the staff were friendly.

My wife was admitted after suffering a stroke which resulted in her being paralysed to her left arm and leg. She is not incontinent but cannot use toilet facilities which requires staff to carry out those duties. Here, much to her initial regret, duties are always completely carried out by male staff.
They have proved extremely popular with her since she's been here. Food she considers adequate but not attractive. She has a very limited diet, which is the main problem. Accommodation is adequate but it's beset by being contaminated by cats. I think she will have regrets in leaving when she is moved to her permanent home.
Reply from Shahnaaz Mohamad, Manager at Sandown ParkThank you for your comments .Please relay your concerns to the staff nurse .I am not sure whether you have the correct care home as we have never had any animals in our home

Staff are welcoming and show concern for both residents and relatives. The room is very clean. Efforts have been made to ensure the resident is comfortable. Any concerns are addressed promptly. All residents are included in outdoor entertainment, which takes effort and organisation.

When I 1st came to visit my sister I couldn't believe it, the room was so spacious and so clean. The en-suite is excellent with many safety features. The staff are very friendly and so helpful. You hear so many stories and I was very concerned that she would be left to either vegetate and or not be
looked after, but now I am confident that when my visit is over she is in the best hands possible. She has had her hair cut, her nails cut & painted on her hands & her nails on her feet at last look so much better. Thank you for your care & concern. Her medical needs have been well looked after & she is so much calmer & happier.

All the staff were lovely and professional, everywhere was clean and tidy. Mom had been prepared and in her special chair for the family to celebrate her birthday. We were delighted that Mum would get a birthday cake for her and all the residents later that day.

Staff prepared Mum in her special wheelchair at our advanced request. She was clean and appropriately dressed. We took her into the garden area where there was some gentle karaoke going on. There were quite a few residents enjoying themselves and the staff were doing a great job of keeping everyone
entertained, but not overheated in the sunshine. We had a lovely time in the garden with Mum and celebrated her 89th birthday. Staff were happy to help out with requests for glasses, cutlery, and napkins. A number of staff stopped for a chat with Mum and ourselves. When we took Mum back to her room a staff member asked if it was OK to go ahead with Mum's dinner and we left them to it. We are delighted with the care and atmosphere at Sandown Park!

A pleasant experience showing us very clearly that my sister is being well looked after in very suitable surroundings. There appears to be a mix up where head office has received money for toiletries etc. and has not told the care staff that payment has been made.

Find some staff to be rude often arguing with family members, refusing to let resident use the toilet when asked "No it's dinner time", in front of family! Lack of personal care with regards to injuries/rashes being cared for/hearing aids having batteries etc. Residents are left in chairs most of the
day with little interaction/ stimulation - tele very quiet or on mute.
Reply from Shahnaaz Mohamad, Manager at Sandown ParkThank you for your feedback. We take all concerns seriously, as the well-being of our residents is our top priority. I am in regular contact with your grandfather's next of kin, who is very happy with the care being received. However, I appreciate that experiences can differ, and I would encourage you to reach out so we can discuss your concerns in more detail. My door is always open, and I would welcome the opportunity to talk.
