Review of Foxgrove Residential Home from Linda F (Daughter of Resident) published on 3 September 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
We are very happy with the care our mum has received since moving into Foxgrove in November 2025
At 90 years old, it is such a comfort to know that she is safe, well looked after and cared for by such a kind and caring team. The staff are always friendly and attentive, and it is clear that they genuinely care about the residents.
The food is good, and the lovely gardens are a real bonus, giving residents a pleasant place to sit and enjoy the surroundings.
Most importantly, Mum is happy there, which means so much to us as a family. We feel reassured knowing she is in a safe and caring environment where she is treated with kindness and respect.

We would like to thank all the staff for everything they do to make Mum feel happy, comfortable and well cared for.

Reply from Rebecca Bewley, Home Manager at Foxgrove Residential Home

What lovely words! Thank you so much, it means a great deal to everyone to get the reassurance we are enabling residents to live their best lives and that families can get comfort knowing their loved one is well cared for, safe and happy. I will share this with the team, once again, thank you.

The staff are very good on all matters
And the food is also very good with a varied choice of food
The residents are made to feel comfortable with their surroundings
And receive great care

The home has a lovely garden area for residents to get out and sit in

Reply from Rebecca Bewley, Home Manager at Foxgrove Residential Home

Thank you for such a lovely review. We are very lucky to have the historic grounds and gardens for everyone to use. A little wildlife haven, which the residents enjoy. Food is a very important part of our home, and having home cooked food to the residents taste is very important. I will pass your comments to the team, thank you again.

Mum moved to Foxgrove after a bad fall which resulted in her being in hospital for a long time . This affected her greatly as she was not the same person that she was before her fall.
Since moving to Foxgrove she has become her old self again and is very happy there
The staff are lovely and caring and always stopping to chat with us when we are there
The food is all freshly cooked and looks delicious (which mum says it is)

Very happy with Foxgrove and thank them all for looking after our mum so well.

Review of Uvedale Hall from Mary K (Niece of Resident) published on 26 August 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

My Aunt is staying in respite care. We were made welcome from the start The staff kindly rearranged her room. The chef came to discuss her diet and so far the meals have been fine. One small point because obviously being looked after 24hrs a day for my Aunt there seems to be a lot of staff and she finds it difficult to know who is who. All the staff are very caring and when visiting I am always greeted in a very welcoming manner. The home appears to run in a lovely relaxed manner.

Review of Foxgrove Residential Home from R R (Daughter of Resident) published on 21 August 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

As a relative my experience of Foxgrove is a positive one. On every visit the welcome by the member of staff who opens the door is warm and friendly. Visiting several times a week for a couple of years now I feel comfortable visiting mum as if in her own home. Over this length of time the core care members of staff have stayed the same which has enabled mum and myself to build a good relationship with them. The staff are kind and supportive.

Reply from Rebecca Bewley, Home Manager at Foxgrove Residential Home

Thank you for your kind words. It says something that we have a lot of staff who have been here for many years, it enables those relationships with residents and relatives to grow. It also helps as you are a very supportive family member, to Mum and how we care for her. Thank you again for your support, I will pass your comments onto the team.

Review of Barking Hall Nursing Home from Laura (Granddaughter of Resident) published on 21 August 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
Choosing Barking Hall Care Home for our dad / grandad's palliative care was the best decision we could have made.

The carers were gentle, professional, and treated him like family. They took the time to get to know him, honoured his wishes, and made sure he was comfortable and never alone. For us as a family, their patience, communication and kindness meant the world. They gave us space to be with him, supported us every step of the way, and guided us through it all with quiet compassion. Nothing was ever too much trouble. When we were there at mealtimes they even offered us food and drinks. It's incredibly hard to single anyone out because every member of staff is lovely and caring, but a special mention must go to Liam. The way he interacted with Geoff and always brought a smile to his face will forever be a happy memory for us.Barking Hall also put all the preparations in place so they could welcome him with oxygen, and we never once felt like an inconvenience. Thankyou to everyone x

Review of Oaklands House from Mike W (Son of Resident) published on 9 August 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My father, age 96, is about to celebrate the 5th anniversary of his arrival at Oaklands. He has seen change at the home but throughout the last 5 years what has remained consistent is the kindness and care shown him by everyone working at Oaklands. I'm always reassured on each visit that he is physically and emotionally well looked after and I'm grateful for the skill and professionalism of the staff team. Looking forward to his 10th anniversary.

Review of Handford House from Sue L (Daughter of Resident) published on 4 August 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
mum was moved to this care home just 3 weeks before she passed away, following a very difficult experience at another home. Before she was admitted, we looked at the reviews and were naturally concerned because we knew the home had previously not received the best ratings from the CQC. Looking back now, we needn't have worried.
From the moment Mum arrived, every single member of staff showed exceptional kindness, compassion and professionalism. They welcomed her with warmth and treated her with dignity and respect throughout her stay.
The care and empathy shown to both Mum and our family were outstanding. Every member of staff took the time to listen to us, answer our questions and reassure us. They genuinely cared, about Mum's physical needs, her comfort, dignity and our family's wellbeing during such a difficult time.

To the team, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You made an incredibly painful time so much more bearable & you deserve an outstanding CQC rating

Review of Mill Lane Nursing and Residential Home from A R (Daughter of Resident) published on 29 July 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

Mum, who has Alzheimers and advanced breast cancer had a fall at home and moved into Mill Lane for respite care. After 3 weeks we were able to get her back in and out of our car and she was walking pretty well. The managers and staff were extremely kind to us all during this very difficult period This of course is a nursing home and most of the residents are very poorly, both mentally and physically. We were delighted to get mum back on her feet and she has now moved into a care home closer to where she grew up Thank you to everyone at Mill Lane for their care and kindness
