Uvedale Hall is a small residential home. It doesn't feel clinical, just homely and very friendly whilst delivering efficient, personal centred care. All the staf are excellent, being both friendly and professional. They have time to chat to me & I have always found them very helpful. I have seen and
heard them show patience, care, kindness and friendliness to all the residents. I have also found the management to be helpful, supportive, knowledgeable and knowing relatives names - no mean feat! The activities including trips out, are excellent and dad always praises the quality and variety of food. Well done and thank to you everyong for providing such a happy, loving home.
Reply from Suzanne York, Registered Home Manager at Uvedale HallThank you so much for taking the time to write us such a lovely review. We strive to always be the best we can be for those in our care and your words have captured this perfectly. Thank you - The manager and Team Uvedale.

My father recently passed away at Barking and the staff have looked after him exceptionally well. He was very happy here even though he had been in the care system for nearly ten years. I and the rest of my family cannot thank Anna and all her wonderful staff enough for all they have done for my dad.
I have honestly never seen such a well run nursing home. Barking Hall should be used as a benchmark for all care homes.
Reply from Barking Hall Nursing Home, Home Manager at Barking Hall Nursing HomeThank you so much for your heartfelt feedback and kind words following your father's stay at Barking Hall.
We are deeply sorry for your loss. Your dad was a truly great man, and he will be greatly missed by everyone at Barking Hall. It was an honour for us to have known and cared for him.
It means a great deal to Anna the manager and the entire team to know that your father was happy and well cared for whilst living with us. Providing compassionate, dignified, and person-centred care is at the heart of everything we do, and your comments are truly appreciated by all the staff.
Thank you also for recognising the dedication and hard work of the team. Your kind words will be shared with everyone at Barking Hall, and they will be very touched by your appreciation.
It was a privilege to care for your father, and we thank you for placing your trust in us.
With deepest sympathy and best wishes to you and your family.

First my mother is attacked by another resident! Now today they call me to say they took her bed rails off(she can't walk) and now has fallen out of bed! Absolutely disgusting! This isn't a home it's a death trap! Staff and especially the manager are totally useless.
Reply from Martin Kirkup, Director of Marketing & Sales at Handford HouseThank you for the feedback. Whilst we entirely understand the distress you and your Mother must be feeling following recent events, we object in the strongest possible terms to the language you use towards hardworking, committed care staff. The circumstances you describe are far from an accurate reflection of the circumstances you make reference to. You will I am sure be aware that bed rails can themselves present hazards, and we have received professional OT advice that - in this specific case - they should not be in place. You will also be aware that the manager and regional manager remain ready to meet you at any time.

My sister was in this home for the last years of her life. When she died, earlier this year, the home failed to notify her GP. This was only discovered when the GP did a routine visit to the home, 12 days after my sister's death! This caused a long delay in registering her death and being able to arrange
and hold her funeral. The family are still awaiting a formal letter of apology from the home. There has been a distinct lack of communication from them!!
Reply from Jane Galloway, Home Manager at Mill Lane Nursing and Residential HomeWe are sorry to hear that you are disappointed with aspects of our communication at such a difficult time. This complaint is being addressed through our formal processes and we will remain in regular contact.
As this is an ongoing complaint, I do not feel it would be appropriate to comment on specific details publicly, however we do not believe this review reflects the full circumstances surrounding the matter.

Oaklands House

from n w (Son of Resident) published on 28 April 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Following a serious fall last November our mother decided that a period of respite after being discharged from hospital was necessary as we felt that being at her home would not have been safe or conducive to a proper recovery.

Our initial impressions of Oaklands were that it was a well run home that

had a lovely atmosphere but more importantly the level of care and interaction between the staff and the residents was fabulous and so important that they were made to feel welcome.

So much so that as our mother started to become more mobile she decided that being a permanent resident at Oaklands really was the route forward. Suffice to say the level of care, quality of food, interaction with staff at all levels has been first class, mother feels safe, well looked after and content. We would have no hesitation in recommending Oaklands House as a respite or permanent home.

My Mother entered Hanford house Ipswich on 30/12/25 and passed away 02/04/26
My mother was not an easy person to please but the Staff here kept their smile and Care levels did not change at any time. She really enjoyed the entertainment and made great friends with Nick. She was bed bound from day
one and why the hospital admitted her along with social services. Each and every member of nursing/care cleaning and admin- management were there for everything she needed night and day. The young man who looked after her clothes went above and beyond.
We stayed with Mum over night and all day the last few days of her life and was offered more tea / coffee and sandwiches than we could ever need while at the same time left us to spend special time alone with mum.
Reply from Agnieszka McDonald, Home Manager at Handford HouseThank you so much for your kind words and for taking the time to share your experience. We are truly delighted to hear that you were pleased with the care provided in our nursing home to your mother.
Our team works hard to create a warm, supportive, and respectful environment for all residents, and it's incredibly rewarding to know that this has made a positive difference. Your feedback means a great deal to us and will be shared with our staff, who will be encouraged by your appreciation.

Our brother came to Hillcroft House late 2025 after 3 weeks of bed hopping in a main hospital and after a few months in a mental health unit prior to that. We were very relieved that he had a room and bed to call his own as he needed that security. His stay was initially for 6 weeks respite care but
this was extended until we found somewhere long term nearer to family. The staff at Hillcroft were extremely kind and supportive and helped our brother feel secure in his surroundings whilst there. All were easy to talk to if we had any concerns and this made our brother's stay easier for us too. Our thanks to Cathrine and Tony in particular.

Our aunt moved to Oaklands over three years ago.
She felt at home immediately and never regretted the move. The staff have been really kind, thoughtful and efficient since day one and she soon made many friends amongst them. They are always happy and cheerful and nothing is too much trouble. She was
always commenting on how wonderful they were and assuring us that we never need worry about her as they would always look after her.
This was a great reassurance to us as we both live several hours drive away and could not visit very often.
The home had a seemingly ineffectual temporary manager for a time recently and it is a credit to the administration and staff in the home that the standards did not slip noticeably. Now the home has a new manager who is proving to be excellent.
The staff always made us welcome and feel at home. We were so lucky to find such a wonderful place for our aunt to see out her days and we are immensely grateful for all the care and attention she received.

I couldn't be happier with the care my dad receives here. The home has such a lovely, warm atmosphere and genuinely feels like a safe and happy place to live. The staff are incredibly caring and always so kind and patient. They are very amenable to Dad's individual needs and nothing ever seems too much

My husband was admitted to Mill Lane Nursing Home on 2/1/26 directly from a two-week stay in the hospital. From day one, I have been impressed by the kindness and professionalism from all the staff, from the manager down. They are really good with my husband and have always made me and my family welcome,
as well as responding positively to any concerns. Excellent home.

The White House

Before my mother came to the White House, she had breathing problem because of the mold in her old house and she couldn't look after herself. Ever since she moved into The White house a year ago, her breathing got better and she became much happier. She would call me every week to talk about how friendly
the staffs are, how she has many nice friends and enjoys watching Elvis karaoke. I couldn't be happier that she became a positive person. I'm very grateful to the staffs looking after her.
Reply from Elena Dolniceanu, Home Manager at The White HouseThank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovely review. I shall pass your kind words onto my team.
