I moved my Grandma to the grange a week ago and the family are incredible. From the carers to the office staff. Donna & Lauren in the office have gone above and beyond with helping me navigate everything from paperwork to settling my grandma into the home. I can't fault it one bit. If you want your
family member to be safe, secure and supported then definitely go to the grange.

My mother came in just before Christmas, but she was very grumpy as she didn't want to come to the home- and the staff were absolutely marvellous. They gave her such love, care and attention that she slowly softened to the warmth of the home and very soon they each had her going out for lunch. Sadly
she shortly became very unwell with a large undiagnosed until now, cancer tumour, that pulled her into palliative care. The care and attention she got, while she was dying was amazing- right up to her last breaths she was loved, given the utmost dignity and respect by all that looked after her and I thank them from my heat for all of them.

Mother moved into the Old Vicarage shortly before Christmas and very quickly settled in. The staff could not have been more helpful or accommodating as a huge amount of furniture, pictures and objets moved in too. Not to mention a large Siamese cat, the love of Mother's life. Everyone did their utmost
to help and to make her feel at home and it worked. Having been anti initially she was very quickly telling her friends what a nice place it was and calling it home. She was soon making plans for the long term including moving her weekly Mahjong group meetings to the Old Vic. Sadly this was not to be as in a very short time Mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer and her time at the Old Vic was cut short. The care and compassion shown to both Mother and her connections throughout Mother's last few days was exceptional. I cannot rate the staff highly enough from the wonderful handyman who hung the pictures in her room to the special lady who gave up her own time to sit with Mother.

My friend Eddie has been here since June. I have always found the staff very welcoming and helpful. Eddie is always smartly dressed and well cared for, and has settled quite well. Ashley Court offer a good range of activities for residents, and the outdoor area is excellent for residents to enjoy. I
am kept informed of Eddies needs and treatments, and am extremely happy with all of his care here.

My mum received appalling care at Blandford Grange during her 5 week stay in the last weeks of her life. I cannot urge other relatives to avoid this home enough. She was not treated with respect or dignity and her care was unsafe. Her medications were not managed correctly and she was left in risky
situations. It breaks my heart that she suffered more than she needed to at this vulnerable time in her life. We launched complaints but their record keeping is so poor that investigation is almost impossible. I am just glad that we were able to get her moved to a better place to die where the managers and staff were professional and compassionate. The home she moved to even raised a safeguarding complaint as her transfer to them had been dangerously managed by Blandford Grange. The home is systemically poorly run with a culture that would take a complete overhaul to change. I am mistrustful of other reviews on this site - they bear no resemblance to an our experience

My wife, Janet, had to move here from another care-home about 4 weeks ago. My husband and I felt immediately that this home was ideal for Dad. It is like a very large house - no horrible bare floors everywhere! Cosy, nicely - furnished rooms, kind staff - nothing is too much trouble. Splendid activities and outings. Dad settled in so much better than I anticipated - sadly
he had an unexpected stroke and died in June, but we could not have wished for a better last three months for a 95 year old man. Nice food, with little treats every afternoon - exquisite little cakes with drinks and visitors included! Very impressed with inter-staff briefings - whoever I spoke to on the phone would know what was going on with Dad. Keeping ungraspingly to about 23 residents is excellent for this. Touched by details - someone carefully sewed name labels in Dad's clothes by hand.
Reply from Debra Wyke, Home Manager at The Malthouse Residential HomeThank you so much for taking the time to submit this review. It was our pleasure to care for your wonderful father and we are so happy he chose The Malthouse as his home.
