All the staff have worked tirelessly to make the afternoon such a success. Well done to them!
All the residents were treated to a special day and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Perhaps allow a bbq next time.

We are generally happy with the overall care provided. The staff are friendly and caring and happy to help in anyway they can. The gardens always look beautiful, a difficult task with the summer we have had! We attended the recent garden party with plenty of food on offer. Would just like to make a suggestion for future events.......please try and serve drinks cold or provide ice.

Reply from The Manager, Registered Manager at The Old Vicarage Care Home

Thank you for your review, we are pleased that you are happy with the care we provide. Sorry about the ice we did have it but it melted very quickly in the drinks buckets , due to the lovely warm weather we were blessed with on the day

Review of The Malthouse Residential Home from Debra S (Daughter of Resident) published on 27 August 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

From the first visit to The Malthouse, we realised that this was the ideal place for my dad to stay. From the point of discussing discharge from the hospital, the Manager was able to take all of the stress and anxiety off our shoulders. Initially he was to stay for a short period of time, but he has been so happy and looked after since moving in, that he's made it permanent. He's been so much more sociable with other people than before and is able to have a joke with the team, who do an amazing job of looking after him.

Reply from Amy Morgan, Home Manager at The Malthouse Residential Home

Hi Debbie, It is lovely to see the positive change in Dad since he came out of hospital. Thank you for your kind words. The team and I really enjoy spending time with Dad, sharing a chat and a laugh with him. I look forward to seeing you at the Garden Party. Best wishes, Amy

From my initial contact by telephone I have found The Malthouse easy to talk to and absolutely everybody that I have spoken to, on the phone, or met in person whilst visiting my Mother has been smiling and happy. Quick to help and happy to discuss any of my Mother's requests.

I can only speak from the experience of my Mother's room, which is ground floor with everything she needs, and a lovely view out into the garden. The garden is delightful despite the current drought. Pots of flowers lovingly watered thank goodness.

To have Mother in the Malthouse was a very good decision.

Reply from Amy Morgan, Home Manager at The Malthouse Residential Home
Hi Lesley,
Thank you for your lovely feedback. It is a pleasure to have your mum with us at The Malthouse, and I know how much she enjoys spending time looking at the garden.
I hope to see you at the garden party.
Best wishes,

Amy

My mother stayed in The Old Vicarage for two weeks respite care while we went away on holiday She was happy to be there and was taken care of and made to feel very welcome. The staff are skilful and kind, the rooms are all well appointed and the experience was an all round good one. We would use The Old Vicarage again.

I had a very good stay at the Old Vicarage. The staff were helpful and kind. I found the bed and the room a bit small. For some nights the carers were too noisy late at night. I really enjoyed going round the gardens and looking at the fishpond.

I would have liked the Daily Telegraph every day (not Sunday).

Review of The Old Vicarage Care Home from Mark F (Son-in-law of Resident) published on 9 August 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
Approached by a driveway and standing splendid in this summers sun our first impressions were instantly very very positive. A ring upon the door bell and I am greeted warmly with smiles of happiness.
A wheelchair is provided along with assistance helping Dad from the car to the chair and then into the vicarage.
It is bright, light and spotlessly clean, there are more smiles and easy conversation. Easy conversation is important. These are big decisions we are making after all.
I like how the setting and the gardens are a very important part of the vicarage, quiet rolling hills, the lake and the fountain and those fantastic roses.
The rooms are wonderful, bright, clean, a patio door looks out onto 'Green' not 'Grey'. Again very important stuff.
En-suite, recliner chair and a good television. All neccessary equipment in the bathroom. All medical requirements met and administered. This is great.

Fantastic restaurant and lounge, a fantastic kitchen and staff... and smiles from Dad!!

The atmosphere is friendly, cheerful and willing. It feels like a home, a warm, safe place where you want to be. The staff are attentive, always ready to help with whatever is needed, paying heed to individual characteristics and foibles as well as their physical, mental and social needs. They are kind, caring and responsive and I am confident my mother is looked after and monitored well and her needs met with patience and understanding. Thank you from her and thank you from me.

Review of The Old Vicarage Care Home from Jan P (Wife of Resident) published on 29 July 2026 Submitted via Postal Card

The carers, activities staff, medical personnel, kitchen/laundry/gardening staff go out of their way to be helpful and kind. Since my husband responds to a smiling face it nearly alwaus appears happy. More varied activities for residents would be appreciated, taking advantage of the beautiful, extensive garden. Taking residents outside to enjoy the fresh air gives so much joy, especially if wheelchair bound. Every effort is made by staff for significant events on the calendar, eg, Easter, Halloween, Divali, etc. The item lacking to a permanent wheelchair accommodating vehicle with at least two assigned drivers from the staff to be able to drive it.

My mother in law was a resident at the Malthouse for over 4 years.
She recently had to be admitted in a hospital and she sadly passed away on Tuesday the 7th of July 2026.
A member of staff who I couldn't speak highly enough of.
She certainly went out of her way everyday going into the evenings and over the past couple of weekends to support ourselves.
She even came to the hospital to visit my mother in law.
Her work that she does daily is far beyond what is expected from her.

All the staff there are totally amazing.

Reply from Debra Wyke, Home Manager at The Malthouse Residential Home

Mu auntie needed to be looked after for emergency rest bite and The Malthouse was able to assist us with this at short notice. The assistance manager who's service was outstanding, and was able to turn it around smoothly within 24 hours. My auntie was only there for a short time. My auntie enjoyed her short stay and said the food was excellant. The care she received was exceptional. I would highly recommend The Malthouse as a 5 star to anyone.

All the staff (administration, care assistants and nurses) have been brilliant! They all have provided information, help and support to us as a family and the care, empathy and compassion they show my father has been far beyond anything I expected!! We as a family are at my father's bedside as his life fades, and everyone has been so wonderful! We feel incredibly blessed that my father was discharged from hospital into this care!

I am eternally grateful for the kindness, care, empathy and professionalism that have been showered on my terminally ill father, Keith, in the last weeks of his life. As a family, we could have asked for a better experience from the administration and nursing staff. Thank you for allowing this end journey alongside my father to have been so peaceful.

My mum had been placed in respite care & was then taken into hospital. On discharge we had to find Nursing Care & we couldn't be happier with Blandford Grange. Their care, support & attention is brilliant. When I saw my mum recently I asked her if she was happy there & she said yes she's very happy, she said she's very lucky. As her children who don't live locally we couldn't ask for more
