Olive House has a warm, friendly and very human feel. My dad is in the early stages of dementia, and what matters most to me is that the staff seem genuinely engaged with him and committed to his well-being. Everyone I have met has been kind, approachable and helpful, and there is a clear sense that
residents are treated with dignity and care. Overall, I am very happy and reassured that Dad is being looked after by a team that wants the best for him.
Reply from Rachel Gee, Home Manager at Olive HouseThank you for your lovely review. It really means a lot to us. We're so glad to hear that your dad feels supported and cared for, and that you feel reassured too. Our team genuinely enjoys getting to know each resident, and it's wonderful to know that this comes across.

Mum has been a resident for 2 years . All the staff are caring and treat mum with fondness and respect. And show unlimited patience with her dementia spending time with her on days that she wants to stay in her room. The home is clean and very well presented with a lovely seated area in the garden.
The food is delicious and there is always a good choice at meal times.
There are different activities every day to engage residents from baking ,painting , entertainers. Mum has enjoyed all of these as well as the visit from the owl sanctuary.
There are also organised trips out for residents that wish to go .
Mum also enjoys having her hair done every week by the hairdresser .
Its such a relief to know mum is settled and cared for so well , with the knowledge that I can call or visit any time and there will always be a warm and supportive welcome for me too. The new manager always makes time if I need to talk about mums care.
I 100% recommend Olive House
Reply from Rachel Gee, Home Manager at Olive HouseThank you so much for your lovely words about Olive House. It means a lot to us to hear how happy and settled your mum is. The team really do care about her, so knowing that you see and feel that makes all the difference.
We're glad she enjoys the activities, the garden, the food, and her weekly hair appointments - and we loved hearing how much she enjoyed the owl visit too. Moments like that are exactly why we do what we do.
It's also great to know you always feel welcome when you visit or call. We want families to feel just as supported as the residents, and your feedback really reassures us that we're getting that right.
Thank you again for recommending us and for trusting us with your mum's care. It's a privilege to look after her.

Our Mum spent her final few weeks at Overbury House, the staff were courteous and caring and nothing was too much trouble. All questions were answered with informative information and knowledge. The cleanliness of the home and our mum's room was always spotless.

In her final few hours she was treated

with the dignity she deserved and the Care Home Manager came and offered her condolences as did some of the other staff which was very kind.

We cannot comment on the food facilities other than the portions seemed generous.

I just want to say a big thank you to everyone at Olive Care Home. The care and kindness shown by the staff is always outstanding, and the home has such a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
A special mention goes to the new manager, who has already made a noticeable positive difference. They are approachable,
professional, and clearly care deeply about both residents and staff. It really feels like things are being led with genuine compassion and attention to detail.
Overall, I'm very grateful for the excellent standard of care and the supportive environment provided here.

Walcot Hall Nursing Home

Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
Management was very helpful with application for admission. The room was adequate rather than luxurious. Could have had more chairs for visitors. Bathroom facilities were good. Inflatable mattress was ridged and not very comfortable. Staff were very caring and helpful. Quick response to the bell/bleeper
and a rapid response when I fell. Plenty of activities and useful individual physio visits. The lunches were very good and generous. Tea was not very appetising. A plate of mashed potato faintly flavoured with cheese. A minestrone soup stone cold. Also when always asking for strong tea with a little milk often came milky. Intake of water should be monitored and offered at lunch table/left dehydrated. I was close to the link and the loud beeper beeped instantly and my hearing aid amplified it and I found it bothering. Isn't there a better system?
Reply from Connie Hughes, Home Manager at Walcot Hall Nursing HomeThank you EC for you comments, I will ensure I feed this back to our kitchen team. We enjoyed your company for the two weeks you stayed with us and now you have been, you know where to find us should you like to come again. We will look forward to seeing you again. Take care of yourself and keep up your exercises. All the very best from team Walcot Hall. Kind Regards Connie

My mother has been in the care of Olive House for over 2 years. Along with other family members we have always been made to feel welcome on visits, there's a friendly, warm vibe throughout the home. The home itself has a modern feel to it with wide corridors & everything on one level. Regularly decorated
and always clean. Carers, staff & management are friendly and we feel that Mum is well looked after by a caring, hardworking team.
Reply from Rachel Gee, Home Manager at Olive HouseThank you so much for taking the time to share such thoughtful feedback. It truly means a great deal to our whole team. We're delighted to hear that you and your family continue to feel welcomed and supported during your visits, and that the atmosphere of the home gives you confidence in the care your mother receives.

We take pride in maintaining a clean, modern, and comfortable environment, and it's wonderful to know this has made a positive difference to your experience. Most importantly, your kind words about our carers, staff, and management team are deeply appreciated. They work incredibly hard to provide compassionate, person-centred care, and feedback like this reinforces why they do what they do.

Thank you again for your trust and for being part of the Olive House community.

Mum moved in to Bilney Hall several weeks ago. She has got her sparkle back, before she was very isolated and was unable to leave her home. Now she has made friends, and thinks all of the carers and staff are lovely. She's joining in with all of the activities, eating foods that she hasn't had in along
time, and everytime I visit her she looks so well and happy. Mum says it feels like home, and I couldn't have asked for her move to have gone better. The staff/carers are always friendly when I visit and I feel so much better knowing she is so well looked after by people who really care.

My godfather was sent on discharge from hospital. He and I have found the staff absolutely wonderful. Nothing is too much trouble and they take time to talk and listen to concerns of residents and visitors. They do everything they can to make residents feel loved and cared for. They are kind and encourage
all to take part in the activities on offer. My godfather is going on a visit to the cathedral, he wasn't sure about going, but the staff took time to put his mind at rest about the worries he had, small, caring home, highly recommended.

Overall we found Mum's care was good particularly with a couple of staff members. When Mum became incontinent it took some time before she could be assessed and supplied with the necessary items to keep her clean and dry and to avoid the overriding smell of urine in her room. We did bring in Tena Ladies
underwear but don't believe these were regularly used. However once Mum was assessed this issue was resolved.
Mum seemed happy at Shipdham Manor therefore we were happy with how she was cared for in her last few years.

Love dad's care home. Staff treat him like he is a member of their family. He is always clean and dressed beautifully. Dad is very settled and happy here which is a huge relief for me. I visit every other day and have become very fond of the staff and the other residents. But I also see alot more than
I suspect most visitors do and I can honestly say all the patients are treated so kindly and humanely.
I have nothing but good things to say. Thanks BCH.

This nursing home is simply excellent. I have experienced several homes over the years but this home is head and shoulders above them all. From top to bottom the focus is on care and compassion. The ethos is one of doing their very best for residents, extending to family and friends. Nothing is too
much trouble and just ask. There is a warmth about the place and you join their family when residing there and you are treated as family. Sadly my wife's stay was only short but up to end the staff were doing all they could to make her as comfortable as possible and they could easily have said there was no point. My son and I were there a lot and they did all they could to look after us as well. All the staff were so considerate, polite, caring and helpful and this stems from management. I cannot praise them enough and they provide a first class environment and service. Food good, clean, lovely rooms and beautiful surroundings as well. Very highly recommended. Well done management and staff.
Reply from Connie Hughes, Home Manager at Walcot Hall Nursing HomeThank you so very much for such beautiful, kind words about the services being provided at Walcot Hall. It was such a pleasure and honour to look after your wife during such a very sad and difficult journey for you all, we all thank you for trusting in us to provide the highest level of care we could during her time with us. I will share your kind words with the whole team here at Walcot Hall, with sincerest thanks - Connie and Team Walcot Hall.
