Lovely old building & grounds kept in good condition. All staff, admin & carers very welcoming & helpful. I doubt if the building is capable of providin more quiet areas, but the carers cheerfull move a resident to help. Occasional meals I have had were fine and the kitchen staff very good
Parking
is easy.

We put my father in Critchill 10 months ago and we are so pleased, everybody is so kind and helpful . I was so worried about leaving him there but every time we go in everybody has a smile on their face and a good word I'm very happy indeed.. we sometimes stop and have lunch with him and even on his
birthday we had tea with him and a cake. It was fantastic. My father suffers with dementia but these moments are very special.. the Management staff cannot do too much for us. The carers are so kind and helpful. We sit and have a cup of tea with Dad every time everybody around there is so caring definitely the right decision. I just like to say a big thank you to all the staff at Critchill Court. You will make our world a better place

Staff spend more time on their phone than seeing to residents.
Little or no interaction with residents.
Very poor activities.
(Sock sorting) How ridiculous is it to save the staff a job?
Agency staff don't have no interest in the job.
Reply from Nichola Read, Registered Manager at Critchill Court

I am sorry to hear you have concerns in regards to staff interaction. Please be assured that our activities are tailored to support the needs of our those living with dementia, sock sorting being one of those as it provides a familiar, engaging and calming task. All our daily records are input via hand held mobile phones, and our policy requires the care team to record everything as and when it happens, this ensures an accurate account of each individuals day. If you would like to discuss any concerns you have please do come and see myself or my deputy in our office. Kind Regards, Nichola

A beautiful + spacious environment with extensive + well-kept gardens, which is made very welcoming by the excellent team of dedicated staff. All aspects of care are carefully considered in order to make the homelife of the resident very acceptable. Both the physical and emotional comfort is adressed
in an empathic and comprehensive manner which is delivered in a consistent and practical way - after taking the residents wishes into account. Attention to diet + wellbeing are all well catered for and health issues are dealt with promptly and with the appropriate interventions from G.P., if required, in a timely way. I highly recommend Beaufort House.

The home and staff are very caring unfortunately there are not enough of them for a rapid response. A most notable thing here is you cannot smell urine, wonderful. In all the home I've been in that was a noticable aroma!
Reply from Natasha Chapman, Registered Manager at Beaufort Park Retirement Village

Thank you for your feedback, we have a fantastic team who care deeply about all residents and their loved ones. Our emergency response times are exceptional and we are fully staffed at all times. Unfortunately, there are occasions where individuals have a slightly longer wait time due to staff attending other calls. At Beaufort the whole team strives to provide a warm, clean and friendly environment and we really appreciate your comments.

My husband and I visited my aunt on 17th March and whilst sitting chatting to her in the dining room, she started gasping for breath. I alerted Beaufort staff, who were absolutely amazing, managing to bring my aunt round. An ambulance was called immediately and while we were waiting the Beaufort staff
were so caring towards my aunt, whom they put into the recovery position on advice. The paramedics were excellent and my aunt was now asleep in a wheelchair. The Beaufort staff were so attentive throughout and were advised that a GP would visit. My aunt was then moved to another lounge and made very comfortable, whilst being monitored. We visited the next morning to find my aunt much recovered and I cannot thank the Beaufort staff enough for all their care and compassion, not only throughout this emergency but everyday.
Reply from Emily Fraher, Marketing Executive at Beaufort Park Retirement Village

Thank you so much for sharing this experience with us. We are deeply touched by your kind words and are so glad that our team at Beaufort was able to respond quickly and effectively to ensure your aunt's safety during the emergency. Our team are always here to provide the care, attention, and support needed in any situation, and we are thrilled to hear that your aunt made a full recovery. Thank you for trusting us with your aunt's care - we truly value the opportunity to look after her.

My mother was placed into Critchell Court Care Home on 26th November. Within a few days, she experienced missed medications (serious omissions of heart medication), lack of socialisation, safety issues with dementia patients entering her room at 3am and frightening her, with a male resident sitting
in her chair and female resident sitting on her bed. The care home ran out of critical medicines at least twice in a four week period. The care home corridors stink of urine and excrement at times.

This is not a place for elderly frail people - my mother does not have dementia, yet she was placed here on an emergency respite. The care was inadequate, communication between managers and care givers non existent. My mother often did not have her prescribed medications at correct times, twice they
ran out of her medicine. She wasn't mobilized, major safeguarding issues with other residents stealing and getting into mum's room at 3am - and the whole place smells of urine as soon as you walk into the residents areas.

Choosing a carehome is a sad but significant moment and getting it right is important, after a few weeks I'm sure I did get it right.
My wife is well cared for in a happy situation, the staff are all you would hope for and I'm grateful to them all.
I visit every day and I'm also happy to be there.

My mother-in-law was a resident at Critchill Court Care Home for six weeks, sadly she died 21/08/2024. Five-star care! The care she was given was done with love and her dignity was never ever compromised. Without exceptions, the staff were amazing and looked after all the family members too. Whenever
the staff spoke to any of the residents, they were always very respectful, kind, and a little humorous even when it was not apparent anybody else could hear them.

My parents have both entered Critchill Court together and have been made to feel so amazingly welcome and cared for. Thank you all. Mum and Dad's health is improving, they feel safe and secure. The attitude of the staff is great both to the residents but also to my sister and I and other family visitors
at what is a difficult time for everyone. The change to Agincare ownership seems to be settling down; it must have been tough for the staff but they didn't let it affect their work. The food is good and getting better as the chefs have more freedom, drinks and snacks are always on offer from the trolley. There seem to be some good activities, and the garden is looking better with all-day access so residents to sit out safely. General healthcare is good, and access to nurses and doctors is excellent, including out-of-hours. I could say more, but let's just say we are very pleased with our experience so far and very happy mum and dad have moved into Critchill Court.
