My wife began noticing her memory loss in 2018 and said "don't ever put me into a home". In March 2025 she suffered a vicious chest infection needing 14 days of antibiotics. The infection and the tablets took their toll. Help was needed 7 days a week and her dementia went into steep decline
with Christmas 2025 being exceptionally difficult for her. After visiting 8 local care homes Willingdon Park Manor became the obvious choice when a choice was needed. It was the most appaling descision that I have ever had to make- but one that I have never regretted. The staff are wonderful, thoughtful, caring and nothing ever seems too much trouble. Just over a week ago she needed to go to A&E to be checked over, we were there for over 6 hrs. The senior day care assistant had said that when she was ready to go back she would arrange a staff member to come and help us. The night team were then on duty. After finishing her 12 hr shift the senior care assistant came to help.
SIMPLY EXCEPTIONAL CARE!

What a scary, sad time it was when we reached the decision that my mom could no longer care for my step dad with support at home. However, once we'd decided on Willingdon Park Manor(WPM), we were supported all the way and I'm so glad my step dad's last 8 months of life were spent here. WPM is not just
a beautiful, well kept home, it is full of staff who exude warmth and genuine kindness. We couldn't have asked for kinder, more respectful care to have been provided for my step dad. Every staff member got to know him from the reception staff, to cleaning staff, entertainment support staff, managers and of course his care team on his floor. By the time my step dad passed, we felt like staff were extended family who shared our sadness at our loss. Thank you for loving my step dad with us and caring for him with such kindness and friendship. Thank you for keeping him company when he wondered at night and for looking after us when we visited including for warm empathic hugs after he passed.
Reply from Emma Jennings, Customer Relationship Manager at Hallmark Willingdon Park ManorThank you for taking the time to review our beautiful home. Firstly, we would like to extend our sincere condolences to you and your family. It was an absolute honour and pleasure to care for your step dad. He was a wonderful, gentle soul who touched the lives of many of our team, his passing has left a void in our home. Your comments are testimony to the teams care and dedication, we will be sure to pass them on. Thank you once again, Emma

My aunt was looked after by the team at Willingdon Park Manor after she came out of hospital, her previous care home could not take her back as she was on oxygen and needed more nursing care. The team were fantastic, so kind, caring and understanding. They kept her comfortable in her last days, and
we are so grateful for their help.

My brother and I chose Maycroft for both our Aunt and Uncle after they both became in need of care.
When we visited for the first time after viewing various homes this just stood out by a lot. Its staff are so obliging.
The whole experience from before they arrived to the arrival dates as they came
at different times and with different needs were so caring and everything was done to welcome them.
The facilities on offer are amazing and so much for the residents to do. We were promised al ot and without a doubt they have lived up to that and exceeded our expectations.
Reply from Laura Tee, CRM at Hallmark Maycroft ManorThank you so much for your lovely review, we are so pleased that your Aunt and Uncles experiences have exceeded expectations here. Thank you for your kind words

We had to find somewhere for our Aunty & Uncle to move to. Both have dementia and my aunty also has physical issues with Diabetes and unable to walk. These are our family, so choosing the right place for them, somewhere trat could home as well as providing for their needs was so important. Also we
really wanted them to be together. When we found Maycroft in Carden Avenue it was like our entire wish list had been catered for. All the staff, from admin, management, nursing, care workers - everyone - has been wonderful. Everyone is so caring and giving. The home itself is truly wonderful and not only provides the necessary care they need in a safe, clean and comfortable place, but above and beyond that offers so many choices off activities. Both of them are honestly now living their best lives. Maycroft really has allowed us to give our Aunty & Uncle the very best that they would have in their senior years.
Reply from Laura Tee, CRM at Hallmark Maycroft ManorThank you so much for placing the care of both your Aunt and Uncle with us, we are very happy to hear that you feel their quality of life has improved from living here at Maycroft.

My dad has dementia and we moved him to Maycroft Manor in January. He has settled in incredibly well and is genuinely happy. The care, activities and facilities are fantastic. He really loves the space and that when he is in his room it is quiet/peaceful. At the same time, he loves taking part in all
the activities which are truly stimulating, especially anything involving music/singing. In his own words he is 'definitely not bored!'. He has made friends with other residents, and enjoys sitting watching TV with them before and after dinner. It really does feel like home. The staff are all really kind and friendly and the care dad receives is perfect; just the right balance of promoting independence, and offering support gently, and patiently, when needed for dressing and showering. We are welcomed whenever we visit, day or night. Since dad has moved in we honestly think his memory, communication and self-care have improved. I viewed several homes and this is by far the best I've seen.
Reply from Laura Tee, CRM at Hallmark Maycroft ManorThank you so much for your review, we are so pleased that the move here has helped Dad 's quality of life to improve.

My father needed more care than we could provide at his home. He had deteriorated very quickly and the home was able to take him within 2 days which was incredibly helpful. We had looked at a few of the best homes in Eastbourne but this one stood out as bright and airy and really like a good hotel.
The communal areas are very modern and there is a lively coffee area on the ground floor which is well used by the residents and does not feel like a home at all, more like a nice coffee shop so it really is somewhere the residents like to spend time and you can see that. My father reported that the food was very good and he was difficult to please so this is praise indeed. His room was very nice and as I have said, like a good hotel room. Decorated with modern colours and everything he needed. All the staff were incredible from the admin side to the nurses and carers. He could not have been in a better place. If I need to go into a nursing home at any point I hope it is as nice as this one

The initial application went very smoothly and Emma was particularly helpful, however, it took a couple of weeks to cross check information and it took several weeks before the initial deposit was repaid (largely due to the Christmas period I expect).
Reply from Emma Jennings, Customer Relationship Manager at Hallmark Willingdon Park ManorThank you for taking the time to review our beautiful home. Please accept our sincere apologies in the delay in getting the initial deposit returned to you. Not only was it the Christmas period, we had also just switched our billing system within the company, which had an impact on the invoicing and payments. We're sorry for any distress and inconvenience that this caused you. Kind regards, Emma

Willingdon Park Manor provided respite care for my mother when her dementia was exacerbated by a UTI. The home was incredibly helpful in arranging this at very short notice. Although mum was reluctant to go into a home she was happy enough while there, and was very well looked after by the highly professional
and caring staff. If/when the time comes that mum needs permanent care, I won't hesitate to turn to WPM again.

We stayed at Maycroft Manor for a three-week respite and were genuinely impressed. The stand-out feature was the staff - every single person we met was friendly, helpful, and cheerful, which made a huge difference to our stay.
We had a double room with a kitchenette, a wet-room shower that my wife
absolutely loved and found very easy to use, and even our own little garden, complete with squirrels and birds to keep us entertained.
Although there were several lounges and dining rooms, we preferred meals in our room, and that was no trouble at all. The daily menus were varied, and the chef was happy to cook something different if requested.
The laundry service was amazing - clothes were name-labelled, collected mid-morning, and returned washed, dried and ironed the same afternoon, seven days a week.
Overall, the care was exceptional and the atmosphere warm and welcoming. We came away feeling very well looked after.

All the staff were caring and professional and made a point of getting to know Mum, even though she was only there a short time. Mum's room was spacious and had good facilities, the food was tasty and varied, the gardens beautiful and accessible. There are many additional facilities available to residents
and families. Mum felt very comfortable and cared for.

28 day respite nursing care. Nursing care and management of medication was first class. Food was also well balanced, nutritious, with lots of fresh fruit and veg. Resident was treated with respect and dignity.
Resident would have appreciated more intellectually stimulating and accessible activities,
but appreciated that the home is new and these things take time to bed in. Would use home again.

We chose Maycroft Manor because it seemed so friendly and accommodating.
My Mother needed respite care after a stay in hospital. Her house had become unmanageable and we needed a stop gap whilst we got her new flat ready .
The care my mother has received over the last 3 months has been excellent
, the food is excellent has are the staff. The overall experience for her has been one of kindness and care . I will go as far as to say I think it gave her a new lease of life , I attribute her care to her being able to go on and live independently again.
For me it's been a massive help knowing how well she has been looked after, the stress of thinking how we were really going to get things sorted for her was overwhelming but once she was with the care home everything became easier and manageable.
The management and staff should be congratulated on running such an amazing service.
Reply from Emma Weller, Deputy Manager at Hallmark Maycroft ManorThanks so much for taking the time to leave us a review. We are over the moon we have been able to support mum with her recovery. Thanks again for the kind words which we will of course pass on to the wonderful team here at Maycroft Manor.

My father had to go into respite after a short spell in hospital with heart problems and a broken ankle. We approached Willingdon Park Manor and we met by Emma who explained everything to us beautifully and showed us the facilities available. My father was more than happy for his 6 week stay. The
accommodation is immaculate and the staff are all absolutely wonderful, always cheerful and so helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. The food is fantastic and absolutely 5 star with a choice of meals. There are also plenty of activites to get involved with too. I would highly recommend Willingdon Park Manor.

My mother has been at Maycroft since November 2024, and during that time, there have been ongoing issues with the poor standard of meals. In addition, recently, possibly due to the summer holidays lack of staff, laundry is not being collected or the room bins emptied.
Clothes regularly go missing
from the laundry, considering the extremely high cost (increased in April this year), often we find aspects unacceptable at Maycroft.
Reply from Emma Weller, Customer Relationship Manager at Hallmark Maycroft ManorThank you for taking the time to share your feedback. At Maycroft Manor, delivering high-quality service and exceptional care to our residents is always our top priority, and I'm sorry to hear that you feel we have not fully met the standards we strive for. We're disappointed to learn that you felt the standard of our food was not as it should be. We previously addressed your concerns and hope you remain pleased with the changes made to your mother's mealtimes. Our team takes great pride in preparing fresh, locally sourced, and nutritious meals that are tailored to individual preferences and dietary needs. We also appreciate your comments regarding the laundry service. We recently experienced some delays due to a faulty dryer, but I'm pleased to confirm this has now been resolved and there should be no further disruption. If you feel there's more we can do to improve, I would welcome the opportunity to discuss it further. Please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Both my parents moved into Willingdon Park Manor in February 2025.
Dad unfortunately passed away very quickly after moving in, however mum has been in the dementia community since then.
Staff were wonderful in the short time dad was there and helped mum settle in very quickly.
Nothing is too much
trouble for the staff here and everyone is so welcoming when we visit.
The activities for the residents are also well considered and varied.
We get regular updates on the app, personal updates when we visit and a phone call if there's anything significant we should know about.
Can't recommend highly enough.
